I think you forget that the '89 TBI you had does not include torque management, that alone makes 400 ft/lbs feel like absolutely nothing. Either my '07 GMT 1500 5.3L or my '08 2500hd 6.0L both with Black Bear tunes would not be ate up from 0-30, that is unless I couldn't keep the tires hooked. I owed a '95 Silverado and I agree, it had great torque.

Yeah I forget about all the electronic crap these newer ones have. I can tell it's not the engine that's the limiting factor with my truck - definitely a control system holding it back.

My buddy had a '99 Silverado with the 5.3, and had a tune, headers, hi-flow cats, & an intake, and that truck would kill my current Silverado, no question. He ran a 15.5 at 88 at the strip. He was neck and neck with my '72 El Camino. I probably could've got him off the line if the 'Camino could launch without melting the tires every time. Best I could do was a 15.88 with the same trap speed.

I should clarify that we didn't actually race each other on the strip (only on the street), but compared time slips.

Any more than 50% throttle from a stop and the 2006 chirps the tires. And it doesn't fall on its face after 15mph like my 1990 did.

Guess I'm in desperate need of a tune for mine. Was always afraid of breaking something. Overall the truck hasn't been very confidence-inspiring as far as build quality goes.

I got a Friday-before-Christmas-Eve truck I guess ...

Next order of business is engine driven accessories and harness/ fuel system. At least with my truck being TBI that part is somewhat easier. I think I am going to order a kit from PSI... they sell everything together like a few other outfits do as well... but PSI also sells Dirty Dingo and whatnot.. so it's a one stop shop. I just need to confirm with them that they are cool with setting up my TCM to run an older 13 pin 4L60E and not a 15 pin unit with the ISS mine does not have. Accessories I think will be Corvette... I was going to piece together everything with truck accessories that I have but I think this will be easier.

The mold is practically the same but the compound is new.

And I forgot to ask for the balancing weights to be installed on the inside again, I would have liked the cleaner look.

I use counteract balancing beads inside tire. Hate the corosion left on wheel from wheel weights

I hate how you buy a brand new truck and they have them stuck on the outside of a brand new wheel. Then you have corrosion on that spot within the next year. Made me want to punch someone in the mouth.

Still need to get those. Wish there was someone closer than 78 miles away to install/get them from.

Aren't they the kind of thing you can basically do yourself? Basically dump em in as the tire is mounted?

Yeah looks that way. I think last time I looked I couldn't find anything on buying them from counteract. Amazon looks to have resellers so I guess I'll order 6 bags from one of the resellers. Maybe I'll get lucky and they'll come in next week so I can do it on my vacation since none of them seem to have prime. Really wish amazons search function wasn't garbage.

Doesn't look like there are any sellers of the 6oz bags on amazon either. At least not that brand, I guess I could try e-z tire beads. Or just use ebay apparently.

Fortunately I don't have a problem with rust or anything like that where the weight goes but I would prefer a cleaner look.

I ordered online, cheaper the more packs you buy. Can be added before tires are mounted placing bag in tire or after by pouring into tire from bottle with a tube and breaking bead on o e die of tire. Kit also includes special longer valve core.

Yeah the pain in the butt seems to be finding the whole kit for a dually, or even a truck. Most of the kits for counteract I see are for motorcycles or only have 4 3oz bags. Might go with another brand if they answer my inquiry since they have a dually kit. That way I don't have to go looking for each thing separately.

I guess I could just learn to do math and buy multiple of the 4 bag kits and make it add up to the 36 oz I need. Don't know why I didn't think of that earlier.

- New Trico flex windshield wiper for the driver's side and topped off RainX fluid. I've been using that wiper brand on the passenger side and it's probably the best I've ever used, although I have never used Bosch Icons. This brand also looks way better than traditional low end wipers.

- Topped off the oil with STP oil treatment instead of just oil. I haven't done that in a while but I figured why not especially during hard summer months.

-Washed her and vacuumed. She looks great but I'm a little biased!
