Got some new snow tires for the truck's winter wheels. Bridgestone Blizzaks to replace the 6 year old ones I have. Stuffed them all in the Volvo. One in the trunk and 3 passengers.

Went to Tire Rack's Windsor, CT warehouse. Saved $67.50, even paying $43 CT sales tax. Plus get a $70 rebate from Bridgestone. Was gonna wait, but the rebate sealed the deal.

I topped off the tranny fluid as it was a hair low and checked tire pressures again, all in preparation for a weekend trip up to Flagstaff. She'll be visiting Snow bowl again which is at about 9k ft of elevation.

Fortunately Flagstaff won't have freezing temperatures this weekend, we're having what seems like the last warm spell o the year.

That's a good thing. We hit 70° here today, but the dew point was 70° too! Rain and mist all day. Sun came out for a few minutes, and it was tropically oppressive. I'd sweat thru my shirt in seconds.

The other day I took the '74 RD350 out for what may be the final ride of the season. Was 75° that day! Couldn't ask for better than that up here. Foliage is done for after the rain today. Took this pic a couple days ago on the ride ... with my flip phone, lol:

Today I busted off the 6 year old DM-V1's from my OEM 18's, stacked the tires in the barn, and threw the rims in the house. Waiting for my rim rust retardant to arrive before I mount up the new DM-V2's.

Today I worked on a very nice snowblower that belongs to one of the church buildings that is part of the church I go to. Tune up time. I also listed my personal snowblower for sale on craigslist as I'm going to need the $$$ to get by another month until I can land me a job. Trying to keep my truck from being repossessed.

Powertrain and drivetrain have never been repaired or replaced. I've done a starter and we had the A/C system worked on earlier this year, but nothing major besides those. Thing is a tank, it's towed it's entire life. Them 4L80e transmissions are bulletproof, probably helps that the 350 is so underpowered it can't break it haha

Had to replace the original battery in my truck, it's been turning over slower and slower these past few days. I figure it's about time anyhow, I got 6yrs out of it. Replaced it with a Interstate Mega Tron 730cca. Comes with a 7yr warranty. 1st 2yrs full replacement and 5yrs pro rated.

It's amazing how you really don't notice how the old battery is losing power, till you hook up the new one and it spins over like a button on a shit house door.

Bad starter will do that too.

I had got so used to our '86 Grand Marquis turning over slow for so many years, I had no idea the OEM starter was on it's way out ... until one day it left the wife stranded at the store. I managed to get it started after clicking the key a few times and got it home. After replacing every battery and solenoid cable, and installing a new starter, the thing whips over faster than it ever has in the 14 years we've owned it. :)

Thing must've been pulling all 600 amps out of the battery each time the key was turned.

Somehow managed to not smash my face in or cut off my fingers. New hitch looks quite beefier than the OEM one and weighs at least double. I also like the bigger chain attachment holes. Just need to torque things down tomorrow and then assemble the shank, head and ball. Definitely something I'll wait for a 2nd pair of hands if I have to do it next time, if nothing else so I don't have to crawl out from underneath in my contortions positions.

Thought it would hang down an inch or two vs OEM but nope pretty much the same. Looks better that way to me anyway.

I threw a new hitch on mine a couple years back too. The OEM one was getting hammered ... and rusty. Can't even remember the brand - think it was Curt. A Class IV.

Ratings?

18k and 2k or 18k and 2.5k with WD

My crescent wrench only goes to 1 11/16" I need 1 3/4" to attach the ball. Measly 1/16" off. Guess I'll have to go to Harbor freight tomorrow after my buddy comes over with his torque wrench so I can torque the hitch down.

Had fluidfilm applied to the hole undercarriage of my truck this weekend. Hopefully it will make the truck last a couple more years.

Repurposed the wood from the flag pole holder from my old truck to build a little stand for my filter system that came in this past week. Haven't had time since last weekend, been getting ready for my sisters wedding all week. Only took me a few minutes to throw it together, didn't even have to cut any boards. Nothing fancy but it's sturdy and does the job
