....... It's lucky my range doesn't allow electronics to be shot. ........

I fixed up my Lexmark right here in the backyard. Total pile of dung. I'll never buy another inkjet as long as I live. I replaced it with a Canon All-In-One deal - the toner is pricey, but it lasts me over 2 years, even with my wife printing 40 pages a day of stuff she finds on the net ...

.22 is great - cheap and super accurate. Was a great way to break in the Mark III Hunter, and take out some frustration at the same time. :)

Well on Thursday morning went out and started the truck to get the frost off the windshield and both low beams were working came back out in about 10 minutes and the right one was out again, needed the truck for a work trip so I left out going couple hundred miles and back. On my way back about dark I noticed that my headlights were not working very well? Stopped got out and looked and the drivers side low beam was out also!! This was the 3rd set of bulbs in about 1 1/2 years. So I went to the dealer and asked about bulbs, while I was there one of the Techs came in and said that I should get the "kit" if I was having problems. The "kit" had two bulbs and two new plugs for the bulbs, so I replaced them with good butt connectors and taped up the connections so we will see how this works out. :jester:

I just had to replace the drivers side about 4 months after changing them out. I went 6 yrs on the original set. We will see how long this one lasts

Shockingly, I've only changed the bulbs once in 9 years on mine - and that was only to upgrade to Silverstars. Didn't notice any improvement in lighting on this as I did in other vehicles. Bulbs have also outlasted other Silverstars I've had on other vehicles by a HUGE margin. Think I installed these 8 years ago. Still have the stockers in a drawer just waiting for when they're needed.

At least they got ONE thing right with my truck ...

This morning I received a fellow forum member's key FOBs ( 22733524 ) for repair which I promptly fixed. Then repaired and older FOB ( 16245100-29 ) for a 1999 Suburban. It was in bad shape but I rescued it from the landfill.

Since you repair clusters, are you able to also add the transmission temperature gauge?

Never tried and also noticed a few components more on the 7 gauge clusters mostly diesel stuff. I would also need a different overlay to display gauge.

Nope. I'm not sure if I'll get it on before spring or not.22LR used to be cheap. I'm glad I stocked up during the first "buying scare." Unfortunately I don't live in a rural area and while shooting on my property is technically legal, it wouldn't be smart. Plus I'd want to shoot it with my 357 mag or 44 mag anyway. Maybe the 30-30. Granted the AIO printer did last for quite a few years. Got a cheap AIO brother for my sporadic printing/scanning needs.

My gauge cluster seems not to wanna work after starting after I let truck sit in the cold.

Once today. I few times last year. I think its a low voltage issue. Works after restarting the truck after a few minutes of warming up.

I used my Marlin .338 Express lever action to ventilate the the Trooper shocks a few weeks back. That SOB hits HARD! Would take down any large game in North America, for sure. The shock was hit at about 35 yards - close-range for that thing. :)

I should've used that on the printer ... but they're almost $3 a round - that damn Lexmark cost me enough money in ink as it was.

Bring it down here and I'll do it for you

Wish I had the money I'd come down and go riding too.

A plus of reloading and having paid off all the equipment years ago is I can reload any of my pistol Ammon cheaper than factory 9mm or 22LR. If 22LR didn't look like such a PITA to reload id probably do those rounds too with the way their price keeps going up.

Yeah, it's crazy. Seems like everything across the board is just going up, and up, and up ... :nonod:

Definitely would be nice to be able to reload rimfire rounds. Could sit there and make thousands of them.

I bought a Rock Crusher a while back - still haven't used it for the Marlin ammo yet. I think I bought everything I needed, and then got sidetracked with some tough jobs - haven't looked at the stuff in 4 years!

I've also got a Hornady Lock N Load progressive press, with a case feeder. I can crank out pistol rounds with that like crazy. Think I hit close to 500 rounds an hour doing .45 ACP. Can really get it moving once you get a rhythm going. If I had a way to automatically keep the primer tube full, I'd be able to go even faster.

I haven't used it in a while. My wife hoards quilting supplies - it's buried right now ... :noway:

Just realized my cat Buddy is in the background there. RIP - miss the little guy. Best cat I've ever been around in my life. Was like half human, half dog. He weighed 21 lbs. when this pic was taken.

Got gas Saturday morning and had the 5 gallon can slide on the tailgate and start spilling as I was trying to put it back in the bed. That factory spray liner is stiff and slippery on a cold day. Thankfully I wasn't too far from home and cleaned the truck up afterward. :fume:

    • Common failure.  You need to replace the fuel door housing.   The painted cover transfers over to the new housing.  To remove the old one there is 4 spots where you poke the plastic to release it.
    • No such thing as regenerative braking on a pure ICE vehicle.     Regenerative braking is the re-capture of energy from electric motors and stores it in the battery pack.  So hybrids, PHEV and EVs have regenerative braking.     What you are seeing is the charging system changing modes is all.  Its likely entering charge mode for some sort of reason is all.  All of the charging modes will be listed below.   As for L10 vs D.  L10 turns off automatic grade braking.  L10 puts you in control of grade downshifts where in D it will automatically do it based on brake pedal position and other factors.  Otherwise L10 and D drive exactly the same aside from that one aspect.    Battery Sulfation Mode The BCM will enter this mode when the interpreted Generator output voltage is less than 13.2 V for 45 minutes. When this condition exists the BCM will enter Charge Mode for 2–3 minutes. The BCM will then determine which mode to enter depending on voltage requirements.   Charge Mode The BCM will enter Charge Mode when ever one of the following conditions are met:   Windshield wipers are ON for more than 3 s. Climate Control Voltage Boost Mode Request is true, as sensed by the HVAC control module via serial data. High speed cooling fan, rear defogger, and HVAC high speed blower operation can cause the BCM to enter the Charge Mode. The estimated battery temperature is less than 0°C (32°F). Battery State of Charge is less than 80%. Vehicle speed is greater than 145 km/h (90 mph) A current sensor malfunction exists. System voltage is determined to be below 12.56 V When any one of these conditions is met, the system will set targeted generator output voltage to a charging voltage between 13.9–15.5 V, depending on the battery state of charge and estimated battery temperature.   Fuel Economy Mode The BCM will enter Fuel Economy Mode when the estimated battery temperature is at least 0°C (32°F) but less than or equal to 80°C (176°F), the calculated battery current is less than 15 A and greater than −8 A, and the battery state-of-charge is greater than or equal to 80%. Its targeted generator output voltage is the open circuit voltage of the battery and can be between 12.5–13.1 V. When fuel economy mode is active, the generator is not charging, only maintaining open circuit battery voltage. The BCM will exit this mode and enter Charge Mode when any of the conditions described above are present.   Headlamp Mode The BCM will enter Headlamp Mode when ever the head lamps are ON (high or low beams). Voltage will be regulated between 13.9–14.5 V.   Start Up Mode When the engine is started the BCM sets a targeted generator output voltage of 14.5 V for 30 s.   Tow/Haul Mode (if applicable) Pressing the Tow/Haul Mode button located on the center stack, the vehicle system voltage is raised and the remote (non-vehicle) battery will be charged. Having the headlamps on will raise the system voltage and if the Tow/Haul button is applied it will not serve any purpose. The voltage is regulated between 13.9-14.5 V.
    • Hello from Australia Just sharing that there is now a way to delete the active shutters entirely with just a plug in module. Opens up tons of room to light bars etc.
    • I have an observation and a question... 1) I watch the voltage closely because I have had to dial in the cut-in/cut-out voltages of the battery separator to my camper.  The "smart" charging drives me nuts.  Anyway, I noticed that when coasting for a while, and especially if lightly using the brakes (though not necessary), the voltage goes up from mid/high-13 volts to mid/high-14 volts.  Then it drops back down after stopping or going again.  Consistently!   The only explanation I can come up with is REGENERATIVE BRAKING!  Well, maybe that's a little bit of an exaggeration, but it's certainly free extra battery charging.   2) Driving on mountain roads I will use L and vary the max gear.  Things straighten out and I end up in L10.  Sometimes I leave it there for a while.  Is there any difference between L10 and D?
