Damn. So is there any hope for between now and the time they release the trucks that they will make Afm atleast an option on the 5.3 and 6.2 instead of standards

While I really like the exterior of both trucks parts of the Interior are almost Fugly. The centre section of the dash leaves a lot to be desired imo. It does look better with the full console but alone..........Not turning my crank. I will leave final judgement until I see one in person.

That center stack looks like ET's head coming through the dash. Eeellliott, get me out of the truck.... Interior is a big fail IMO. It is a deal breaker.

If I were buying a new truck today I would by the 2013 ram. The air bag suspension is a great idea that most big towing rigs use.

The ford my touch is a deal breaker for me. It has had too many problems. My wife's Lincoln has the mynlincoln touch and sync stuff, it is garbage.

dont know if the current trucks do it, but the new ones will have an "active exhaust" which will monitor backpressure and whatnot so you dont get the crappy drone sound when its in 4 cylinder mode.

I understand that the new dashboard design is the "pod" design, and in my opinion has no flow or symetry. I decided to look at other new Chevy's to see if they had "pods" or flow and symetry, and found the 2014 Impala dashboard. Flow, symetry and appeal. Must have been a different design team.

^^^ I'm the opposite of you. I don't like the new Impala dash design but I do like the new truck designs. I think it will look really good in person and the toggle type switches are a really good idea. Overall, I'm really happy with the redesign. The AFM on the new motors isn't the same as what's on them now, so don't count the GenV out just yet. I think we'll be happy with them, especially the 6.2

Nothing wrong with differing opinions. I'm just fond of my current dash layout. While I wish the materials were better, I would love my dash if it was a leather dashtop with the 2014 technology. The pod design reminds me of more utilitarian designs like OTR big rigs that generally have the separated and segmented dashboards. My preference:

I really hope that one of the aftermarket tuners (Diablosport or Blackbear etc.) get busy with a tune to turn off the AFM on these new trucks. If anything drives me away from GM trucks, it will be this useless and annoying feature. Exhaust note is awful when aftermarket systems are used and overall highway driveability suffers with speed and gear hunting. Not to mention the engine oil burn problems....really not worth the .5 mpg gain at all.

OK, i get so tired of the AFM bull 'malarchy' I cannot stand it. Who on this board, that bitch and moan about AFM consistantly, have actually had a motor fail on the GMT-900s yet?. My employee has an 09', damn thing has 200k and has tick tick ticked since almost new. You know what, that damn 5.3 is as stong as always and 'over' tows almost daily. Mine personally has no issues either. Ticks just as tad, but runs like a scalded cat with 70k. I've never questioned my drivetrain, and I challenge all those who harp on GM's AFM Vortecs to show me something any better

Buy a quality exhaust and buy a quality Tune, AFM is not an issue
