So, what do you think?

I got my first looks at the 2014 GMC crew SLT and Chevy Silverado crew LTZ. I didn't stop at the GMC dealer who was next door to my Chevy dealer, but from exterior appearance I can honestly say, even though I may be in the minority, I like the looks of the new Silverado over the Sierra. There's just something about the way the front bumper is shaped that doesn't suit me as much as the front of the Silverado. Anyway, no offense to any of the GMC guys. If someone will buy me a new 2014 Sierra I will be glad to suffer with this "shortcoming." :jester:

Anyway I got a chance to look inside the Silverado. It had the perforated leather, touch screen, etc. Very nice truck. As stated by those who've already seen the trucks, the pictures do not do them justice. I DO like the way GM reworked the rear door/leg room in the crew. The truck I saw had the traditional 6 1/2 ft. bed so it was bigger than my 13 crew, but looked balanced. I'm sure in the coming months many of you will be driving and buying these new trucks and we'll all be learning about them together. As for me, I'm happy with my 13. One thing, since GM has been screwing the GMT-900's together since 2006 I think they had the process down pat as this is the quietest and tightest GM truck off the lot that I've owned. I hope the new trucks don't have growing pains, but still the same I think I'll be glad to let you guys work out the kinks for the next few years before I jump into the new body style.

Overall the new trucks are very nice and I think will keep GM competitive in the full size truck market. Here's the truck I looked at:

Checked out a red LTZ with the 20" wheels yesterday. Very nice. It's got the 6 1/2' bed also. They left it out last night. Might go by after work and park mine next to it to get feel for how much longer it would be. I think I probably will go with the shorter bed. Liked the interior a lot. Console, soft dash, gauge layout etc.

In the photos the longer bed looks out of proportion with the crew cab but I'd need to see one in person to pass judgement.

Thought the same thing mikenh. I was a it Leary when I ordered the standard bed driving the short bed for so long. With the bigger crew door the longer beds seems to fit just right. It's all preference though, parking in tight spots I found out just yesterday is a little more challenging than usual but I managed.

I never thought the 5' 7" bed looked right on a half ton. The 6'6" bed only makes the truck 10" longer. I'm going with a 6'6".

At least on the new trucks they didn't change the fender flare shape of the rear wheel well on the 5'7" bed. GMT900 they should have just left the fender flare the same as a standard bed and let the gas cap run into it. Like the new trucks.

IMO Of course and don't get me wrong, I really liked the overall style of the GMT900, I still prefer the shorter rear door look on the GMT900 to the new larger rear door but I will prob get used to it in time.

I drove by a new Silverado today and had I not paid attention I would have mistaken it for a GMT900, which is something that you could have never said about the switch between 800 and 900.

But they do look great inside and out.

and room for a set of Pick up Stix in the center console...

LOL, seriously, what are those colorful things in the console?

Those are file folders :)

The people that do not notice are generally the ones that do not care. They don't go buy something just because it is new and improved. A new vehicle is not considered an impulse buy item, and those that do purchase it on impulse have already looked and made 99% of their decision.

76% of all statistics are made up on the spot.

80% of people disagree with you, hahaha.

I agree with the comment about these trucks not being impulse vehicles that'll get someone onto the lot when they are driving by. That's what the Cadillac's, Camaro ZL1's, Corvette Z06's, etc, are for. A bright flashy sports car/sedan to get them into the dealership and then they'll leave with a brand new pickup.

Does the truck look the same because the headlights are in the same spot? Let's face it the body is completely redesigned, the crew doors are bigger, beds are bigger if ordered, interior looks nothing like 07-13 body. Do they put the headlights and grill in the same spot where should they relocate them to?

I love the Sierra this time around way better than the Silverado.

We get our Diamond White SLT All-Terrian tomorrow. Should have been yesterday, but the damn Union Pacific railroad can't move freight, so now we get to wait.

Only other down fall of buying this truck........ It's the wifes. LOL.

Based on your screen name I'd say you might have a vested interest against UP. :P
