Most replaced batteries are on my twins toy drills. Great huh?

What if I told you the drills are also being used to chase the dog or on us as "hairdryers". At least I hope that's what they pretending. [emoji58]

Alright yall maybe I can get some help from the truck community on my (possible) new truck

^^has the standard length bed which would be nice. Has the cocoa/dune interior and center console setup

Both the high Country trucks are equipped the same, just different color (short bed, saddle brown interior, center console setup).

All three have the 5.3 in them (hard to find the 6.2 in crew cabs suprisingly).

Pros and cons of each??? Give me yalls thoughts!!

Rdnckhntr, I would skip all of the tacky and useless high sierra's and get an LT Z71 with a 3.42, or a 2wd with 3.73. You know you want a real truck instead of a pretty garage queen. ;)

Lol I'd skip a new one altogether. You can get a low mile gmt800 for a song compared to a k2. Won't have to take it in for recalls either

I like the first one from a color/wheels/bed length stand point. Am sure the High Country's have some more options on them. But the standard bed would mean more to me.

The only exception would be if the actual transaction price was really close, in which case the High Country may have better resale & be a smarter choice.

But if you have an '02 currently, am guessing you do not trade/sell every two years. So resale may not be much of a factor.

The 02 was handed down to me. I didn't really think about resale but I'll probably keep the truck 10 years or so so it doesn't matter lol. I do like the more practical standard bed but the high country interior in awesome.

And I'm looking for a truck that doesn't have 150k+ miles on it. I'm still gonna use it as a truck just be a bit more careful with it. If I were to get another gmt800 it would be a diesel. No more 4 speed crap. I drive my truck a good bit for work and sometimes hundreds of miles a day or the occasional tow so the 6 speed would be nice

If your gonna pay that much you should get a diesel.. And with your luck on trannys the Allison is your friend. And yes the 4 speed is like death.. After owning multiple GMT800's with the 4 speed I never want to drive one again haha

What's up with all the sudden hating on the 4 speeds? :dunno:

I've driven a couple of 6 speeds, of course they didn't "learn" my way of driving, but I really didn't care of how they shifted. It would take some real getting used to.

Diesels in this area in an LTZ truck are around 15k more. Prices are ridiculous here but I feel as if I found a pretty good deal on the three trucks I posted.

And I don't hate the 4 speed I just have bad luck with them. This trans shifted fast and firm which was nice... until it broke [emoji23]

Rule number 1 about new truck shopping: make sure the gear ratios are correct for what you want. I was just quoted out for a truck with 3.08 gears. 3.42 is lowest I want

    • I don't wanna do major surgery/upgrades, behind-the-dash work, add amps, change radio etc. on my '26 std cab WT. On the WT, it has the base 7" IOR infotainment setup, and only two speakers (doors). Since I listen to classical, looked around for speakers that do well and dug thru reviews. Two-way speakers were found to be better than 3-way. So I've ordered a pair of  Infinity Reference REF-9632IX 2 way speakers.  [These may  or may not have been discontinued / succeeded by the 3-way ...9633 ones.]    These speakers are lauded for 3 ohm and 94db sensitivity spec so they'll work well for ordinary base car radios without amps and offer better performance (quality,  strength) than  default base paper-cone speakers. They'll be installed in a few days and I'll let y'all know what I think. Bill W San Jose
    • Thanks!   Changed out the rear shocks today to Bilstein 5100s.  So far feel much better. The stock Rancho were wore out.  Lots of heavy hauling (2 moves, home renovations, etc).  Next up is new BFG tires Monday.  Cant wait the current tires have little to no wet traction and are super loud (hum)
    • Ok, I got the all the codes. What do you all think would be a place to start?
    • How about I just point to the factory pans stand pipe little drain plug and claim its a pan with a real drain plug !. I just couldn't swallow the fact that a Dorman pan which at this point is probably the only pan out there that fits the gas version truck cost that much up here in Canada so I decided initially anyway to skip it and see what I thought of pulling the pan method and down the road if I felt inclined enough then I would either install a drain plug kit in the factory pan if there is enough room for it, or have a bung welded onto it, or put an aftermarket pan on. The thing is if the pan is not pulled then the magnets in the pan can't be inspected and cleaned or if wanting to change out the filter. However of course it certainly would make the job easier to be able to drop the oil first before having to handle the pan if dropping the pan that go around was the goal.    I knew a guy locally that was doing custom field spraying years ago with a pickup pulling a ground driven sprayer, I believe it was a GM pickup with an automatic trans. He had a drain plug in his pan and would drop the oil out of it once a week and top it back up through the dipstick tube to keep refreshing a portion of the oil often and that made the transmission last far longer than had he done nothing. Soft fields pulling 500 gallons of water at the start of each mixed up sprayer tank batch and in low range sucking along. I imagine he got some tips from other custom sprayer outfits doing the same thing at the time and learning from their blown up tranny mistakes. Transmissions then had no lock up converter so would cook the crap out of the fluid slipping that much and it would not have been synthetic fluid either.
