Fascinating mix of sadness and stupidity. Sad people died, sad the driver and jury don't understand how cars operate.

It's shocking how common the "unattended acceleration" (in quotes because it's BS) is. I didn't realize it till I read a book by a guy named Jason Vines about his time as a PR guy at Chrysler, Nissan and Ford. It happened with Audi in the 80s and the "scandal" hit them so hard that supposedly Audi's sales volume didn't fully recover till like the year 2000. In the 90s there was a run of it with the Grand Cherokee and then Toyota most recently. Every time it was proven to be driver error. Toyota got robbed by our government, nothing more.

Yeah, Audi was railroaded also. TV news shows did all kind of "investigating" and they were proven innocent in the end also. Ignorance is bliss.

Just like the Consumer "Reports" jerks that killed the Samurai. It's sales never recovered. The sad thing is it was probably the most stable suv made until the 2000's.

Same when GM was slammed for the side saddle gas tanks on 73-87 trucks. 20/20 couldn't make it catch fire in a crash so they rigged it with explosives.

They are very cool, you can get a kit now to swap a 1.8L VW TDI motor into them. They are already champs, with a TDI it'd be a crawling beast. Prolly get 30 mpg too

Got my cupholder but it was broken. The dealer told me to "file a claim with ups" only 2 other dealers might have them kerns gm center, OH and legacy Chevrolet, GA. I hope i can get a new one. I mean its under warranty 12 month from gm it was broken when i opened it

The unassigned covered spot in our complex that I had been using for the past half year or so is now taken.

I'll now have to battle for uncovered spots where my truck will be subject to frost, early morning dew, and rain. Oh the horror!

Shortly after all that happen one of the TV shows took a Shelby out on the HWY at 60 MPH hit the gas and the brake at the same time and got the car to stop. Then they did it with a few more, the point was no matter the car you can stop it even if the throttle is floored.

Covered parking doesn't compare to a garage but its the best option I have right now. And the actual garages we have available are way too small and my wife's far would end up in there anyway.

And we also get dust storms in the summer but its not a big deal. I just don't like her to sit in the rain overnight or in the sun during the summer, those are the biggest things.

Anyone watch Truck Tech? They had a website featured a few episodes ago that you could look up parts from salvage yards all around the country. I swore I wrote it down, but I can't find it now. Anyone know?
