Speaking of batteries, I was watching an older episode of Ice Road Truckers. The one drivers voltage gauge maxed out, and he couldn't figure out what was wrong. Well him and another guy proceed to go poking their heads around in the batteries and had one explode while doing so. Smart move. Should have known his voltage regulator was bad.

Does anyone else have a tick that sounds like a sowing machine at particular rpm's? I can't remember how long this has been going on for almost exactly between 2 and 3k rpm it sounds like a sowing machine. Below 2k it's super quiet and above that obviously louder but nothing unexpected.

I don't usually mind it but over the recent road trip it did become annoying. Granted it had been 2 years since she covered anything more than 200 miles round trip, and this time it was 1,200!

Mine started doing that at idle last year. Sounds like valve noise rather than the infamous piston slap. It's AFM, so no surprise there.

If anyone wants to see a nasty rats nest of an engine bay check out this 2016 f150 5.0.

Didn't we also have lifter tick noises on the GMT-800s? I seem to recall my old 99 Silverado 5.3L had the infamous CSK (Cold Start Knock) as well as some lifter ticking noises and it was quite common from 99-2003ish. CSK carried on past those years. I believe it was a topic of lengthy discussion on here back in the day, not sure if the search feature will go back that far though.

Was talking to a guy yesterday with a '15 F-150 - it's got 14k on it, and been back to the dealer 4 times already for a vibration over 60 MPH. Wheel shakes in his hands, he says.

And the prices continue upward, as quality continues downward. Unreal! :nonod:

Stay under 60mph, problem solved!

That's about what the dealer told him. They say it's ... "fine".

So say we have an MSRP of $52,000 for a new duramax (more like $62,000 now) how much do you think it costs GM to build it?

Got my first Amsoil retail account today. Small mom and pop parts store that is always busy. He carries everything for European cars

Probably $1,500, but the union costs them $15k.
