Wow! From quick-lube shops?

Na, have done every oil change myself. I've used a 12pt socket on it about every oil change because that's all I had in a 10mm 1/4" drive and it took it's toll on the head of the plug.

 

 

So... is that dip stick reflective of BEFORE or AFTER you wiped it off?

 

That is after I wiped the oil off. I'm trying to represent how clean the inside of my engine may be because of how clean the dipstick is.

Lol. We just bought a 2004 Malibu Maxx as a bomber..... literally just a run to and from work keep the miles down off our trucks.... and wear and tear. Leave the trucks at the plant and then run the 85 mile round trip in the car. It was a $3500 purchase that the savings in gas in 2 trucks will pay for in about 2 months. Unlike America that gets worthless gasoline we still pay like $3.40 a gallon here..... so 30 mpg versus one at maybe 15 mpg average and the other at 10 mpg average..... it helps. Go to go the first oil change on this bucket and yup..... plug demolished to the point I pulled it with a little pipe wrench. I had looked previously and bought a new plug prior. It also was Herc tight..... because you know you need to rip the threads out of the pan to keep it from leaking. I will keep an eye on this car....has just over 100000 miles on the clock and looks to be the original intake gaskets in it. The 3.5 it has is more or less identical to the 3.1 and 3.4.... and code LX9 uses the same shitty gaskets.

 

Look so cool rolling down the highway in a weird looking little station wagon thing of a car lol.

Changed the oil in the Cruze today. Currently at 41k miles. Oil drain plug finally rounded off. Had to use a bolt extractor to get it out. Glad I keep a spare plug.

 

 

Thanks for reminding me I need to get a new drain plug for my Cruze as it's rounded badly too just from the abuse of 100k miles worth of oil changes.. How far your running between changes?

Yea, it's just a small headed plug so it doesn't seem to take much abuse. I run 4000k miles on the Pennzoil. It's overkill, but it doesn't matter to me. I don't mind changing the oil, and it usually takes me 4 to 5 months to hit that mileage so $28 every 4 or 5 months for oil and a filter isn't a big deal to me honestly.

Nope... sure weren't and I never have noticed one here otherwise lol. Its just a beater to mile out and dump when it has around 150000 miles or starts giving issues... then buy another. They even made an SS version with the 3.9 V6 towards the end of the run thus proving they really will call anything an Super Sport lol.

 

I love driving it... everyone judges you so bad around here... either that or the shitty Blazer in the background. Add some not so fancy clothing and it's instant unemployment, probably a criminal, etc lol.
