You must have missed the sarcasm? hehe

Hey, this thread was supposed to be about carpet in the wheel wells. Dodge, er Ram don't have that!

Yep. Totally missed it. Sorry!

Ya I noticed it on mine and seemed a little weird. It's harder to clean even with a pressure washer. Leaves like to stick to it also. But I figure, as someone else mentioned, that it's for road noise.

I put the rear wheel well liners in my 2014 Silverado, GM part #22998786, the day after getting it home. I had them on-hand before the truck was even in the driveway. As it turn out, the front already had them, so now things are squared away at all 4 wheel wells. They were $102 from a dealership out of Phoenix selling on Ebay.

I just bought a new '15 and absolutely hate the carpet in the wheel wells, there on the front and back. I work at a construction site and it muddy, muddy and then more muddy and the mud just cakes that fabric and it hell to get off; don't know why the hell they would put this on a OFF-ROAD truck my the 4x2's but not the 4x4's. I like the idea of sound reduction but seems as if they would have did the outer with a durable easy wash plastic especially with all the material options out here nowadays. I bought a power wash just for cleaning the wheel wells and underbody; it still takes for ever to clean. I am looking to do something different either spray in bed liner or just replacing with plastic ones, which I haven't been able to locate any front's yet maybe the 2013's will fit, any suggestions!

Got my first close up look at a 2014 Silverado yesterday and first thing I notice is the carpet in the wheel wells. What the heck is that all about? Must be for road noise reduction but I wonder how it will hold up under constant rocks, tar and road salt.

Yep. Help with sound control. Have the same material on my 2015 Corvette. Seems to clean easy and I think it will stand the test of time.

Most cars have the carpet wheel wells now days. They suck to clean

Your kidding me, I have them in my truck and love them the dirt and mud just washes right off them with the hose and look like new.

Rocks , sand, grass tends to get stuck in the carpeting. Thats my personal experience

After this bad winter it appears the salt and dirt washes out very well. I just use the garden hose. It appears these wheel wells are doing okay. I have no issues with them.

Yeah, I agree. I noticed the carpet looking covers. I just sprayed them with degreaser when I was washing the wheels and tires. Let it sit for 2-3 minutes and sprayed them out with a garden hose. Came out looking brand new. I found that the plastic liners were hard to keep looking brand new as they would discolor over time. I think the mottled look of the carpet will hide the imperfections and look better than the plastic over time.

Has anyone tried these liners on the older 2008 trucks? I have done some measuring and they seem to be a direct fit. Anyone in Winnipeg willing to take one off for measuring purposes please PM me

One more comment on the well liners ... I worried about the wheel well iners on my 2015 at first, but after 18 months and multiple instances of caked on mud and clay and such, I'm amazed at how easily it comes off. They do get a bit dingy after a while if you just hose them off a bit so I've power-washed them at 2400 psi (fan nozzle) several times and they look good as new each time. Once I hosed them then brushed them with soapy water before power-washing but it really wasn't necessary; power washing alone did the job fine. I love the quiet ride so will replace them if they ever do degrade.

On the shifter; I've always had manuals when I could and always floor shifters if available. But, with the towing on/off button and downhill braking control and automatic transmission manual ratio selection all on the shift lever, I'm sold on the column shifter. I don't think finding those on a console shifter would be easy and the idea of another column stock isn't attractive to me. Combining those and a column shifter just makes good sense. It's very handy, especaily if you are now to these controls.

It's not carpet Should clean easy using some apc and a brush Ryan

Unless it's a show truck, why would you even consider cleaning it?

    • HD at the moment, are kinda their own deal.  How LTZ sells on those vs on 1500, there is a difference.   They are merging most of the mid trims on 1500.  LT, RST and LTZ are replaced by one trim, Silverado.  LT and RST are a BIG portion of sales.    Bad naming choice aside, the new Silverado trim will offer the spread of options that those three trims offered.  So expect to see things like the tech package for example, and memory seats.  And LT Trail Boss will now just be "Trail Boss" (formerly LT Trail Boss) but will offer content spread like the new Silverado trim will.  The press photos showed the Trail Boss (formerly LT Trail Boss) has access to Super Cruise now, which on the current truck was High Country only.       Here is the Trail Boss interior.  Memory seats and Super Cruise are present.  All things the LT Trail Boss it replaces, and the RST it was based on didn't get on the current gen.  You had to go to LTZ or ZR2 for memory seats, and High Country for Super Cruise.
    • I installed a Hellwig rear sway bar on my 21 Sierra SLT, it made a huge difference on how the truck handles, no body roll, the trucks much more planted now. Not sure of the suspension differences between the 21 and 26,  if its body roll your having a sway bar will solve it.
    • So a follow up and my fix. I found in online searches the live data to look at on a scan tool to verify the fuel tank pressure sensor was working.  It showed an spec number towards the lower end of the rang, but in spec.  Then while it was running opened the gas cap and the pressure should change.  It didn't change even a tiny bit.  The data for the purge valve said it was open...never changed. So then I measured the voltages on the plug for the fuel pressure sensor and they matched what it should be.  So local car quest parts had the sensor in stock...it was a bit of a pain to remove and an even bigger one to get it to actually go back in.  It helped to unbolt the driveshaft and bungie cord away from the gas tank to give a bit more room to work. So fuel tank pressure sensor in I cleared the code, and started it up.  I went to the scan tool's live data and... Eureka! The pressure number was different and fluctuated a bit.  So took it on a short drive and pressure number varied saw the purge valve go from closed to open and back to closed.  Drove it to and from work for roughly a week plugged in the scan tool no codes.  I took it in to get tested and passed.  In my state's infinite wisdom (oops meant greed), since I pushed the test with the maximum extensions I have to take it back in by Feb '27 to 'get it back up to date', then my next test won't be until Feb '29.
    • Any grease on the stud threads of any kind?   Wheel studs should have NOTHING on them for proper torquing and so the nuts don't back off.     Are all of the mating surfaces clean?  So wheel, rotor and hub?     We've had plenty of trucks at work with that wheel, this is a first to me.  Makes me think they've got a lube tech putting anti-seize on all the wheel studs or some kind of grease, and they need to stop doing that.  To have 11 other trucks with the same exact problem.
    • I was a Chevy guy for years, then switched to GMC because I liked the looks better.  I'm actually thinking I like the Chevy looks better than GMC for the first time in a lot of years.   One thing I know for certain, the new GMC dash is hideous!  Chevy wins this one!
