Curious to know if anyone with a BDS lift or zone lift that also has amp power steps installed what the new height the step is at with lift installed. I run a RC 2" level the steps are ~10" when the step is out. I'd like it higher up or more off the ground.

 

Anyone have comparisons of a zone 4.5" and BDS 4/6" lifts side by side? Some pics look deceiving as far as how high actually truck sits. I'm 50-50 on going with a zone 4.5" or bds 6" i can't decide :(

I don't have a comparison of the two lifts but the post I just made shows before and after my 6inch BDS. I'll try and get some fender measurements for you when I get back home tonight

if it helps I have the 4.5" Zone with a 3" block on 33s. My fenders are 42.75F and 42R

Just measured, front fender is 44.5inches back fender is 44.75 inches and I have factory steps, the bottom of my steps are 18.25 inches from the ground. Maybe that will help

I really don't know the specifics but I love this kit, and the guy that does my alignments says he's never seen a lifted truck keep alignment like mine. I even bought a lifetime alignment and it has yet to be out. It's really tough as well. I almost hit a deer one night and ran off the road at 50+ mph and hit a ditch and I was sure that it bent something but it didn't. I really have not had one bad thing happen with this lift. The only thing I wish was different was I wish it had a choice for high performance shocks. But I can't find anything for a 7"lift.

Well if you ever do let us know! I believe I read somewhere on this thread about a company who does custom length shocks. Perhaps at least the rear. I know Rough Country has the N20 front for their 7" lift but I dont know if those would be softer than your adjustables.

By the way could you please post pics of your CV angles and under lift components.

Just measured, front fender is 44.5inches back fender is 44.75 inches and I have factory steps, the bottom of my steps are 18.25 inches from the ground. Maybe that will help

This helps a lot. If my logic is correct (please correct if wrong) with the step actually being ~3" thick your actual step is 21.25 total vs the amp step which is actually about the same distance from the ground as a stock step at stock height it just gives the illusion its lower because its ~.75-1" thick vs 3". So this means I should be at 18.25 to the ground or ~19.25 of total step up.

 

Ride height of 6" lift is appealing for me, but for someone else with shorter legs its not so great.

Been on the forum for a while now but just getting around to lifting my truck! Here are some pics, lift isn't finished yet but Ill post pics when it is, hopefully tuesday, before and after.

That's just over 34". You'll need a 4" lift. Several out there that fit 35s. You may be able to get away with a 3" level and trimming but that's probably not your best option for ride quality, durability, etc.

Could the 295/70/18 with +18 offset with with a 2.5" level and 1.5" body lift?

I never thought about thickness of the steps but that makes sense, it would for sure look lower if it was 2 inches thinner than the stock steps.

 

Getting isn't all that big of a deal according to the girlfriend haha, she's 5'6" and doesn't have a problem. I'm 5'11". I wouldn't let that discourage me, it's fun getting up in it haha

Took it to the shop, I was planning on doing it myself but with all the cutting and trimming, I decided that I don't trust myself that much haha. I went everyday to check on it so I knew they weren't messing anything up, and man I'm glad I did! Headache free vs doing it myself lol

My truck with a BDS 6" lift and MT ATZ 35" tires, the AMP step is 15.25" to the top of the board. My wife is 5 ft. tall, she does fine getting in and out.

 

I struggled between the two kits as you did. I am glad I did the 6" lift, and went with the FOX shocks front/rear, and went with the BDS leaf springs vs the blocks.

I went to a Chevy lot and measured the stock step distance, the step, and then used 18.25" as my value to compare against my other measurements. All because of being unsure of my choice. If you are 15.25 then that's great, perfect actually.

Just installed a BDS 6", sitting on Toyo R/T's 35x12.5 w/ Fuel Maverick 22x10's.

Very nice!! Did you use the add a leafs in the rear, ride glide leaf packs or just leave it stock and add the block?

    • I would like to know if I can increase my 2025 Silverado 2500 HD
    • Length/amount of data capture will be important to consider, sifting through 5 minutes of a data log can be enormous when it is stored in milliseconds. Being able to find the 'event' let alone decipher it.   Presumably the driver would notice something and hit a button to capture the 'window' of data. That window has to be large enough for the operator to recognize the event and react accordingly.    The data has to be able to be retrieved easily.   The data has to be able to be understood. Which is the biggest challenge, dealer techs won't even know what most of it is and would likely not even look at it if an owner brought it to them. Meaning the owner, the least educated/qualified, trying to understand it.    How will the data be presented? Could specific PIDs be selected and a timelapse graph be watched? How will a specific value be noted as abnormal? Additionally, a good data logger would be able to 'learn' normal values for a specific vehicle and flag abnormalities automatically. It could in theory watch parameters degrade over time and suggest maintenance as needed. (If the MAF reading begins tapering off for a given set of other readings - MAP, throttle position, Ambient, etc.. a flag to check air filter.) With the amount of data available, a device (really the vehicle rather than an additional accessory) should be able to do more than issue a DTC. It should be able to run the full diagnostic suite automatically and present a solution rather than a code. (It's not the 90's anymore). The technology is available for the vehicle to not just say "P0087", it should know low fuel pressure, check other PIDs to narrow down the problem itself, and determine if it is a lift pump, high pressure pump, regulator, leak in the fuel line, clogged filter, etc. Even if it can't narrow it down, it should be able to guide the user to the likely problems.   This would be a major problem for dealer service departments, which are the manufacturers customers it is in their collective best interest to NOT have this available to the consumer.   Further, if the owner is going to be the primary consumer of the data, it's got to be at a consumer price point vs. dealer only specialty tool price.   This group is more 'involved' in their vehicle than general public/consumer and will have knowledge, experience, needs and desires that are quite different from the market at large.   
    • I put the prof up. If you read what I posted. You can see that housing, cars and income are in line with the era we were talking about. It’s harder in some places easier in others. Let’s agree to disagree and put this back on track, OK? We both are pretty stubborn and hard headed. But I bring receipts. If you wish I will not respond to you in the future. 
    • Lets see if I can sum up two pages of nothing useful.    You want to refute your own governments data of the "Purchasing Power" Index FOR THE ENTIRE USA and its territories replacing it with the experience of a single family and its business and label that reality?  Then pound on that for a week hoping it will find traction?    Stan, I've told you several times. I don't do irrational. There are more people in the USA than your family.    I'm pretty sure this tread is so blown up. I'll give you a few days or months if need be to post yourself silent then I'll see if I can find enough parts of the train to reassemble it. 
    • Facebook groups hate VSE, poor customer service; their responses to criticisms are pretty poor for a reputable company. I'm not a customer, haven't bought anything from them, but how they handle themselves on social media is a definite "No" for me.
