Planning on buying the RC 2" front levelling kit for my Silverado LTZ, but it asks for aluminum or steel, which should be chosen for my truck?

Thanks in advance!

Does your truck have aluminium or steel control arms? Take a peek if they are black you have steel of they are silver in color they are aluminium.

A quick google search said they are aluminum, but I just went out there with a flashlight to check the color, and what I'm pretty sure are the control ares, are black.

I've been thinking about leveling mine, but not sure which type. Lower or upper strut mount. I would probably pay a little extra for upper metal ones since the lower spacers I've seen are plastic.

I may not even level it. My old 98 was and the only bad thing wa when you put enough weight in the bed or towed a heavy enough trailer it would look like it was dragging ass. So I would probably do 2" up front and maybe just 1" on the rear.

it seems some trucks are differant then others ,some rub with 305s some dont ?

It depends on**:

Tire selection - measurements vary ever so slightly depending on who makes the tire, tread design and more. If you go on a tires website and look at specs, it will give you the specific measurements.

Wheel Offset - the closer to 0 offset and into the negative numbers, the less tire you will be able to run for a given level.

**If I'm off on my info... please correct me.

I know that's not the best answer, but hopefully gives some insight. Best bet is to find a setup you like and find someone that has that setup. Or find a nice shop that is willing to order a couple different sizes to actually try them on and test them on your truck.

2.25 pro comp leveling kit and pro comp pro runner shocks with 295-65-20

do you get alot of rubbing with this setup? did you trim like crazy? the numbers say 295/65R20 = 35.1X11.61R20 do the shocks lift it as well? this may have been covered but i didnt see it....

^^^this. As many pics as possible at turning points and contact locations.

275 60 20 Nitto Terra Grapplers. 2.5" Rough Country level kit and 1.5 Zone Body lift. Clears by a mile. Going to trim my air deflector. Don't want to remove it because I did and just didn't like the look. I think it is because of the curved bumper bottom that is throwing me off.

Photo shop (on my phone, lol) of what it would look like trimmed about 1.5 inches.

What is your measurement from the ground to the wheel well front and back?

Are you saying to add 2" to the front and 2.5" to the rear? That would keep factory rake but lift the the truck.

Mike, I was thinking that too. Wouldn't it not just lift but also make the rear even more unlevel than stock? I mean I'm good at math, but maybe I'm missing something lol.

I understand where you guys are coming from and to this day it doesn't make sense to me either, but that's what I got and it leveled my truck.

was it 2.5 up front and replace the rear block with a 2" block? Therefore 2.5 upfront and 1" in rear?

All you need tolevel the K2s is a 2"-2.5" spacer in the front. I have a 2" skyjacker level kit, dealer installed. It sits perfect. I even had 2 other dealers tell me that a 2-2.5" spacer in the front levels the truck. Leaving the rear stock. If you change out the rear with a 2" block then you, atleast when we talk mathematically, get some rake. If you need 2.5" to level front with stock rear, then adding 1" to stock rear would require you to put a 3.5" spacer in the front to level.

Agree on that. Was just trying to figure out his setup. But it seems 2-2.5 in front is what is required. YMMV of course.

    • Length/amount of data capture will be important to consider, sifting through 5 minutes of a data log can be enormous when it is stored in milliseconds. Being able to find the 'event' let alone decipher it.   Presumably the driver would notice something and hit a button to capture the 'window' of data. That window has to be large enough for the operator to recognize the event and react accordingly.    The data has to be able to be retrieved easily.   The data has to be able to be understood. Which is the biggest challenge, dealer techs won't even know what most of it is and would likely not even look at it if an owner brought it to them. Meaning the owner, the least educated/qualified, trying to understand it.    How will the data be presented? Could specific PIDs be selected and a timelapse graph be watched? How will a specific value be noted as abnormal? Additionally, a good data logger would be able to 'learn' normal values for a specific vehicle and flag abnormalities automatically. It could in theory watch parameters degrade over time and suggest maintenance as needed. (If the MAF reading begins tapering off for a given set of other readings - MAP, throttle position, Ambient, etc.. a flag to check air filter.) With the amount of data available, a device (really the vehicle rather than an additional accessory) should be able to do more than issue a DTC. It should be able to run the full diagnostic suite automatically and present a solution rather than a code. (It's not the 90's anymore). The technology is available for the vehicle to not just say "P0087", it should know low fuel pressure, check other PIDs to narrow down the problem itself, and determine if it is a lift pump, high pressure pump, regulator, leak in the fuel line, clogged filter, etc. Even if it can't narrow it down, it should be able to guide the user to the likely problems.   This would be a major problem for dealer service departments, which are the manufacturers customers it is in their collective best interest to NOT have this available to the consumer.   Further, if the owner is going to be the primary consumer of the data, it's got to be at a consumer price point vs. dealer only specialty tool price.   This group is more 'involved' in their vehicle than general public/consumer and will have knowledge, experience, needs and desires that are quite different from the market at large.

    • Lets see if I can sum up two pages of nothing useful.    You want to refute your own governments data of the "Purchasing Power" Index FOR THE ENTIRE USA and its territories replacing it with the experience of a single family and its business and label that reality?  Then pound on that for a week hoping it will find traction?    Stan, I've told you several times. I don't do irrational. There are more people in the USA than your family.    I'm pretty sure this tread is so blown up. I'll give you a few days or months if need be to post yourself silent then I'll see if I can find enough parts of the train to reassemble it.
