Ok all ive got a fix for the radio knob lights.. it takes about 1hour and 1.49 at radio shack.you'll need a t-10 torx and a 7mm socket and a trim tool ( or whatever you can improvise) and radio shack part number 271-007 (2.2k ohm 1/8 what resistors) they come in a pack of 5..you need 4.FIRST OFF I'M NOT LIABLE FOR ANYTHING, do these repairs at your own risk.step 1- remove crome trim from around radio and ac controlsstep 2- remove 4 bolts securing radio/ climate control unit and remove assembly from dashstep 3- unplug radio and ac harnessesstep 4- remove 13 T-10 torx screws securing cover to back of screen amd sit to cover to the sidestep 5- disconnect ribbin from radio circuit board to control board and lift control board forward on screenstep 6- remove 6 T-10 torx screws holding radio control board in and sit scree. Assembly to the side.step 7- locate 4 slots missing resistors ( THANKS GM) R30, R32, R34 and R36.step 8-solder resistor to solder joints on circuit board.step 9- reassemble and enjoy your lights!I will try and post pics when I can get on a computer.to those still looking I made this post back in November

Hey guys I just took delievery of my 14 crew cab and mine does not work either... but I think you guys are being quite harsh on this board. Let's all take a deep breath and give this just a little more time to develope into a TSB. I don't think GM will issues a recall for such a trivial thing but I am not going to bash GM for some supplier oversight.

I work within the supplier chain and crap happens.

Grab a beer and lets see what happens... JMO!

In my opinion, you better have a LOT of beer on hand. So far it appears that only dealers that care about their customers will correct this issue. From what other have said, GM's "official" word is, they reserve the right to make changes. The GM customer relations people that monitor this forum here started to ignore the LED no light issue months ago.

My lights don't work either but I'm not losing sleep over it. After all, I would never had noticed if I hadn't read about it on here and I rarely drive at night. But it still kind of ticks me off that they released these trucks like this. I imagine that most people with these trucks don't and won't realize the lights are missing unless enough word of mouth gets out. I will keep hounding the dealer every time I go in there. I have a couple other more important issues I've had fixed or in the process. The tow/haul came on or off whenever the tilt wheel was moved (fixed). The rear door stopped opening all the way (temporarily fixed while new check strap is on order).

We'll I got good news. My dealer is going to fix my lights. Complete new head unit ordered should be here in a week or so. They also took my stock tires back on trade and sold me a set of 22inch used American racing rims and fierce tires off of an avalanche that just got traded in for $400 bucks including 4 tpms and new wheel nuts. I still have 18 inches factory rims with winter tires as my spare set. Good deal for me and goodbye to the good years. Truck looks wicked now and drives so nice with the new set of rims and tires 305/40/22. They also did the fire recall update and will even fix some small dents that I found on the back quarter panel during detailing which everyone agreed that it came from the factory this way. All in all I am very pleased with the dealer and my purchase. I started with the salesman, then moved on to the sales manager, then got the service writer involved and finally got the owner of the dealership involved to resolve my issues. Persistence, patience and a good attitude payed off in the long run.

Do you know the part # for the HVAC that they replaced with?

Sorry.. I don't have any part numbers. As far as I know they replaced the whole unit including the HVAC knob light. I can call my parts guy and get the part numbers if you need them tho.

if you can, find the part # from your RO.. My dealer replaced 3 times already, but seem like they cant get the corrected part.

Greatly appreciated.

What did they replace 3 times? The HVAC light? I'm not sure I understand. There is only one fix for this illuminated ring problem and knowing that you would think only one part or part number to do the job. My dealer replaced the whole center section. (My link screen and heater/ac controls. I could tell it was brand new.

yup. The HVAC.

The HVAC controller is not part of the screen and radio section.. They are different part # and they can be replace by itself

I've got my Screen and the radio section replaced with the corrected part, but the HVAC controller is not.. And that's is why they order it 2 more and still the same.

I just called and to their understanding my replacement was from Michigan and it came as one whole piece with all led's working. If they only replaced your radio lights and not the HVAC lights that's odd.. It may be two completely different things but in this case of fixing the light problem it's all one unit. He also said the number will do no good as they are all different depending on the case. Sorry for saying I could figure it out but I guess it's GM's way of not giving any hints or knowledge to anyone else with the problem.. The whole visit only took 25 minutes and it was done and over.

    • from another thread   Update...although the truck sometimes seems to idle weird and the transmission shift a little weird, I've driven about 7,000  miles and no issues.   However, the way GM has handled my rental reimbursement, the situation when my truck quit, and the recall in general has led me to this point...I have driven a GM vehicle for the past 46 years and unless I buy a C3 Corvette, this is the last GM vehicle I will ever own.
    • There's some truth to the above, but also, she's selling fullsize trucks and bread/butter CUV's like hotcakes, meanwhile, extracting GM's pickups from the deep discounting sales game.   GM's stock has held its own during her tenure, and the more recent buybacks are delivering cash back to investors and signal confidence in their direction forward. Even with the EV losses.   GM is an example of a modern publicly traded company. The #1 goal of any publicly traded company is to deliver the most value possible to shareholders. Despite being a car company, building the best car isn't GM's path to delivering maximum shareholder value.   McDonalds doesn't make the best burger, or the best coffee.   I've mentioned in another thread, I really don't / won't ever understand Cadillac or Buick in a modern context. Both brands are completely dead to me. I'll cede that the Escalade is a nice SUV, but the brand and nameplate mean nothing to me, and GM will never persuade me to pay north of $170k for a gussied-up Tahoe or Burb. Other people don't mind doing that and that's their purview.   The C8 shares absolutely nothing in common with any other current Chevrolet or Corvette on the market. Since its introduction 8 years ago, it's developed quite the following. It did what other Corvettes couldn't do: reduce the average age of its buyer. GM has something there, and I see them investing in the car. They'd better not mess that up.   We've successfully derailed Grumpy's thread again, but I think this one is meant to be more of a random thought thread so a little wandering is probably OK.
    • Sliding doors ftw   Also, Sienna ftw as well.  The in-laws got a 2024-2025 recently when their 2019 sienna was totaled due to a deer back in June.  They've been getting 38-40mpg on the 65mph highway they live on.
    • Forgot to mention that this started after changing the oil I use mobile 1 full syn with mobile one filter but I did add pro lube additive and was the first time doing so and is making me wonder just can't see why that would matter
