Questions about my new 2014

I just picked up my 2014 Silverado LTZ/Texas Edition trim in mid-December. Mine suffers from the missing illumination as well. I wish I hadn't read this as it will likely bug me now. I assume Chevrolet could have the dealer swap out the head units with new ones and then send the incorrect ones back to their supplier for credit. If this is a supplier screw up, it is unlikely that GM is going to be left holding the bag on all of these trucks.

I took my truck in for an alignment today as it was pulling. Had 1200 miles on it. Was that way when I bought it...dealer said that they couldn't do anything until I had at least 500 miles on it. Looks like camber was off from factory.

 

While I was there, I asked them to check out the dial illumination issue. They said it must be normal since they looked at three vehicles on the lot and they all had the same illumination issue. So, they were unaware of the problem. They said they were not sure why Chevrolet would put that in their brochures, when it clearly isn't the case. So, until more hit the lot with the correct setup...I wouldn't waste your time taking the problem to the dealer. They think it is normal.

I checked mine last night and I don't have any dial illumination either. It would be nice to have it.

My truck was built 10 Dec...delivered 27 Dec...lights around the dials work!

My truck was built in Sept and the LED lights around the radio knobs work.

Did the chat thing at my.chevrolet.com and the rep had no information about the illumination issue. Did mention the service bulletin about the power sliding rear window. They recommend getting it looked at when it's in for normal servicing. I've had zero issues with mine and have used it quite a bit despite the weather here.

It may be a stupid question but do the new trucks have the 3 blinker turn signal things? No idea what they're actually called but when you just push the turn signal on by a slight push and it shuts off for you. Mainly used when changing lanes. My car has it that I currently drive and it's nice to have once you're used to it. I didn't pay enough attention when test driving one last week.

Yes, they do. A great feature on most GM vehicles the past several years. I wish more vehicles had this feature.

I have question for those of you with the Navigation. The truck came with a complimentary subscription to XM travel link. This is supposed to provide fuel prices, movie times, weather, stock prices and sports scores...according to the XM website. However, mine only has a weather icon on the home page. I don't seem to have any of the other features. I thought it might be tied to the navigation POI, but this also doesn't appear to be the case. I do have an early build of 5/13...so, I am wondering if I need an update to the radio or if this is actually all the radio/navigation system is capable of? Seems a little light on options considering the possibilities offered by XM.

Yes, they do. A great feature on most GM vehicles the past several years. I wish more vehicles had this feature.

My daily driver has it and it's almost frustrating driving a car that doesn't have it now that I'm used to it.

Weeks go by and still GM cannot give a official response? I hope GM fixes this issue with the knobs and Im tired of waiting. Seems like GM went 98% of the way with these trucks and another year or two they will be really nice. That is after they fix the bad reception with the radio which is the only issue Im having besides the knobs. Seems that other people are having problems with their seats and vibration which Im sure GM will fix too. Overall I am extremely happy with my truck. Compared to my 2011 and 2013 Silverado's mine rides like a Cadillac and is lightyears ahead in every aspect. Wish I had waited for the 6.2L although my 5.3 has still has tons of power.. I just wish GM would fix these damn illuminated knobs! Here in Alaska it is dark and I really notice it.. OCD kicking in I guess.
