Questions about my new 2014

Hello everyone,

I understand that many forum members have questions regarding the blue backlighting around the radio control dials. I do have some information on this concern. The blue backlighting around the radio control dials is in most of the pictures that you see in advertisements that we have of the interior are now starting to show up in the latest produced trucks because they have been added as an enhancement. Please note: the other blue backlighting around 4WD and light switch have been there for all production.

WTH. That's a terrible response.. GM should fix it for the few who notice it, there is way more people out there who won't ever notice the issue so I doubt there would be a flood of people coming in to fix it.

'Added as an enhancement', but was available back when photographs were taken for brochures and such?

GM doesn't want to be fixing these all... which is fine, I get it. 99% of owners won't even notice or care. However, for those of us that do, it's the right move by them to take care of it. Small price to pay considering truck owners are probably the most brand-loyal customers out there. The LEDs that ARE on the board cost a heck of a lot more than the resistors that are missing.
This wasn't a cost savings thing, just a screw up. No biggie, but make it right.

I would love to have a radio that actually works at this point. Drove across town today (OKC, OK to Edmond, OK) which was maybe 15 miles from the center of OKC and I lost 2-3 of the major radio stations to the point of not being able to listen to the stations. My 2008 Corvette worked fine, my 2010 Sierra worked fine, my wifes 2011 Lincoln MKX works fine but my brand new $53k GMC Sierra has a radio that barely works and can be outdone by a extinct Sony Walkman.

Pathetic.....

Hey guys, ........... MAYBE a sign that things have been "fixed" going forward ......... I'm just taking delivery of my new Silvy today (woot!) and low and behold ......... the radio knobs DO LIGHT UP!!!!! Unfortunately, the HVAC knobs do NOT, but I don't think the Sierra's HVAC knobs light up either, do they?

My truck was built on or around November 14th (crew cab from Mexico). HOPEFULLY at this point, they ALL show up with the LED's working??

I won't know for a couple days, but my father-in-law's truck just came in as well (a double cab truck) so I'll check and see if the LED's are working in his truck. It's a Silverado as well.

I have to raise the BS flag here too. The new trucks have it? It's like saying thanks for figuring that our for us so we fixed the new trucks. You guys that already purchased including myself well there's a tsb for that it states bend over and grab your ankles.

So i'm thinking if I bring in my truck to the dealer and say my radio knob lights don't work. So will there response be well they all don't work. I then proceed to bring them over to a freshly arrived silvy and say see they are supposed to work. Will they then respond well you have an early build one so you don't get them??? That's when the crap hits the fan in my book.

The Sierra's have the center HVAC that light's up but i don't think the outer ones do or are supposed to.

Do you have a multi meter you can use to trace out the resistor?

I have a question. So I got a multi meter and found out that the lights do work. However, I can't trace where the resistor would go. I found to possibilities. I also found two holes that I'm wondering if I drop a resistor into it would make it light up. Can you help or know anything about this?
