Questions about my new 2014

Hello everyone,

I understand that many forum members have questions regarding the blue backlighting around the radio control dials. I do have some information on this concern. The blue backlighting around the radio control dials is in most of the pictures that you see in advertisements that we have of the interior are now starting to show up in the latest produced trucks because they have been added as an enhancement. Please note: the other blue backlighting around 4WD and light switch have been there for all production.

Hi everyone

I'm new to this forum and this is my first ever gmc / chevy purchase. Just took delivery of a new 2014 chevy silverado LT. The blue lighting around my audio dials are not working either.

My concern here is that Customer Service from Jennifer is stating that the lastest trucks are rolling out with the lights now working as an enhancement this sounds like a pretty weak excuse for us current owners. As a new owner I'm a little concerned about how this is being handled and am now left wondering if I have made a good decision buy buying a gmc product. I have owned many types of vehicles in my 48yrs of life and this is sounding like a little bit of a blow off in regards to this lighting situation. We as owners should not have to rip apart our dash on a 50k vehicle to fix this issue. It certainly looks clear to me that someone forgot to solder in resistors. I mean really why put the lights there in the first place and only activate them on the lastest production run only after people complain. I'm quite sure these resistors were missed being installed and now they are applying their own fix before this issue gets out of hand. As for Customer Service they could really score some points here by fixing the issue for the current batch of new owners. It would at least give us piece of mind and build more confidence and loyalty with this company.

Is GM going to offer a dealer fix for our trucks to bring them up to the new models or are we out of luck because we ordered early. Seems like a cheap fix from GM to make loyal customers happy.

Yeah, and while we're at it, the 1953 Chevy half-ton came with a notch in the grill for a hand crank. I'd like one of those too!

Not trying to make fun, really, but I wouldn't question my purchase because of a design change decision like a blue light. Sure it would look cool, but I'll live with it. And by the way, I'm not willing to rip apart my dash, or have anybody else do it. It's not rattling or squeaking and I'm not about to cause a squeak or rattle just to add some accent lighting.

As you may have noticed she did say that they are coming out with the same model truck that now have the lights on. If your model truck came out with hand crank a few months later, than maybe you should have asked for one.

Are they going to also fix the a.c. Central control knob light as well?? I want all new pieces not a fix.

Not rattling here but did the 1953 Chevy 1/2 ton cost 50k. I'm sure if it was advertised with the crank then it should of came with it right. So if my new 2014 shows illuminated dials shouldn't it come with it just like the latest model out of the factory with the enhancement that has probably only been addressed due to the fact that many owners are starting to complain about it. Do you honestly think If there was no complaints it would be now fixed in the new models as an added enhancement. I think not, remember this truck is still a 2014 and these lights should work as advertised in the brochure. I personally think someone messed up and didn't solder in the resistors, why on earth would all the components to make it work be there only to not work. Doesn't make any sense at all. You save money by not installing those parts in the first place. JMHO

I will gladly take my truck in for the lights and for the rear window regulator repair and for the seat cushion clip repair and for the BCM update and for the AFM update and anything else GM did not get right the first time. Stuff that should not be an issue on a truck the price of a house...

I agree with taking it in for the other stuff. Just not willing to take mine in for a dash dismantling for accent lights. Just my opinion. I won't criticize anyone for having it done if that's what they want.

Its not that invasive.. 1 trim piece and 4 bolts..done...

Jennifer, So my "High Country" that was delivered to the dealer in late November wouldn't include this enhancement? What is the build date on the ones that all include the "missing resistor" enhancement?

Additionally the "All-New 2014 Siverado" book available at the dealerships shows the lighted knobs. Every picture of the dash has the illuminated knobs operational and these brochures were printed long before my truck was built............. I honestly don't understand your answer.
