All three illuminated rings now work. There is no illumination around the temp knobs nor has there ever been.

GM advised my tech to try some programming first before they order parts. We all know how that will play out, but I'm letting it take it course for a couple reasons. First, it's a small dealer and I'm the first one to mention the lights, though they have seen the ones that do work now. Secondly, the lights aren't a big deal to me. I only mentioned it when I took it in for it's first service. We will see what happens.

Eventually they will replace it. Reprogramming will not do anything because the needed resistors are not there to make the led light up. It's a night and day difference actually having the lights tho so push to get them working even if you don't really want them.

Yeah, that's why I'm letting them run the course step-by-step since this is new to them. It will help any others that come in with problem. They have seen some trucks in stock that do work, so that's in my favor. Dealer agrees they should work, just has to go through these steps to get the "OK" from GM to swap out units.

I'm sitting in the dealer now and they are correcting the knob light issues. What they are doing is removing the entire touch screen. It all comes out in one piece and contains the touch screen, all the knobs, temp dials, everything. Its one piece that is held in with 4 screws and 2 plugs. Pop off the plastic trim, unscrew the 4 screws, pull out, unplug two plugs, and replace with new unit. All fixed.

Anthony, if you can get a part # for the unit, please post and let us know. Thanks!

Update: So only two knobs lit up. Dealer needs to get the HVAC knob separate or have it ordered with the new unit. So since they didn't know that their gonna try and take one out of a vehicle on the lot.

I'll ask him for the part numbers when they finish.

I just called and to their understanding my replacement was from Michigan and it came as one whole piece with all led's working. If they only replaced your radio lights and not the HVAC lights that's odd.. It may be two completely different things but in this case of fixing the light problem it's all one unit. He also said the number will do no good as they are all different depending on the case. Sorry for saying I could figure it out but I guess it's GM's way of not giving any hints or knowledge to anyone else with the problem.. The whole visit only took 25 minutes and it was done and over.

There is no part number for the unit replacement. Read above. I though there was to and turns out part numbers are useless in this case.

Ok. So, basically, the dealer will have to order a new radio control unit AND a hvac control unit. Is that correct?

Ref part # They told me the same thing. They have to remove the defective unit and get the number. I said a friend of mine from a different area is having trouble with the dealer trying to get his fixed. They wouldn't give a specific part number (probably the same as stated above). Even the receipt doesn't include a part number. Tapatalk via Moto X

Yes. It will come as one whole unit. If they only try to replace the two radio rings I wouldn't deal with that. I seen the piece before install and it was literally the whole center piece. If you go a few pages back you'll see me talking about the same exact thing. Some other members are also dealing with the HVAC knob not illuminating but the radio lights are.

This should be a sticky so members with the same issue can get legit answers with out bringing it up in every thread and asking the same questions over and over. Who ever is suffering from the no illuminated ring issue I would take it easy as it will be fixed eventually. Like I said mine took me 4 weeks of back and forth and my service manager took care of me.

Did any of you do the resistor fix on the radio controls and leave it that way when the dealer replaced the whole unit?

I went in to schedule my first servicing today and brought up the dash lights too, why not. They said they would take a look at them on Monday during the servicing, so we'll see what happens. Also found my tailgate lock doesn't work, so they are going to look at that too.
