Standard LINE-X and LINE-X Premium have the same strength. The differences are:

1. Standard will fade due to UV light from the sun. Premium will hold it's color much longer which is the primary purpose of getting Premium.

2. Premium is a darker black and a bit more glossy than Standard LINE-X.

3. Premium is more stain resistant than Standard LINE-X.

4. Premium is easier to clean than Standard LINE-X.

 

By the way, LINE-X is WAY stronger than Rhino (according the the technical data sheets, which I have).

I'm looking to get the Line-X done. Is there really a difference between the Line-X Standard and the Line-X Premium?

 

I know the premium says it's Fade resistant and has UV protection, but is it really worth the difference? Anyone have experience with both?

 

I can get the standard Line-X for $600. Premium is $750. There's only 1 shop within 100 miles radius so it's a little more expensive than other areas. I'm thinking I should just bite the bullet and get the premium, especially since I plan on having the truck for a long time.

 

If there's really no difference, then I obviously would just save my money.

 

I paid 550.00 for the premium in a under the rail shortbed and I think I had to drive an hour to get to the shop. 750.00 sounds high to me, but then it maybe regional differences in pricing or bed size differences. If I were you I would see if there were any shops in a nearby metro area that are within a 2-2.5hr drive. Drop the truck and grab some grub at a restaurant - even with the distance you'll likely still be money ahead if you can find a lower price.

Thanks guys. I'm definitely going to go with the premium. I found a shop 2 hours further that would do standard for $499 and the premium for $595, but don't really want to drive the extra 4 hours round trip to save $150.

 

I also found out that shops out in Long Island, NY charge $650 for the standard and $800 for the premium!!

When I was shopping in Oct 2014 for a 6.2L, I contacted the nearest Line-X dealer (90 miles away) and was quoted $499 for the standard liner (underrail) and $658 for premium. The truck I eventually bought had the factory spray in liner. It looks just like the Line-X in my '03, but is definitely a bit thinner.

Finally did my bed liner yesterday at a local shop. Got a huge discount since I did some surveying work for the owner. He ended up only charging me $100.

I have the gm factory spray in. I do like it a lot. My only concern is how long it will last. Line x has a lifetime warranty. One thing I really like about the gm spray in is the GMC letters embossed on it.

My truck has the factory spray in bed liner and it says "Denali" on the front panel in the bed. Very high quality and I would recommend it.

Anyone seen the weathertech bed liner? Wondering how it fits?

I had the Weathertech TechLiner and Tailgate TechLiner. Both were durable, soft and things didn't slide around. the TechLiner (bed liner) fit well, but had a lip that only went up the side a couple of inches. When I carried construction material and even my ladder, they easily scratched the bed sides. Also, the tailgate liner used a adhesive backed strip to hold the top against the tailgate and some screws elsewhere. The adhesive came apart from the strip. I ended up selling the liner and went with the Chevy logo Bedrug.

 

By the way, I have never had issues with my Bedrug fitment or having it come loose (but I do keep my bed covered most of the time).

The guy on the phone told me the platinum is the premium product with an extra layer sprayed on top making it more durable and restistant to fading. I figured since I have the in bed lights they would mask them off and I would remove the 9 plastic plugs before I dropped it off so they don't spray over them.

 

I purchased the truck used, and the previous owner beat the the paint up in the bed pretty bad so I figured to best protect it from rust the dual liner wouldnt fit the bill, and every other option would not be as good as a spray on for rust protection. I guess when you buy a 2014 that went into service in 3/15 and was sold with 4800 miles that I bought 4 months later from a ford dealer, I paid 32,500. I can't complain too much considering I got a nice truck with an almost full warranty for not a hateful price. Only thing I wish it had was the sliding rear window, but they are pretty few and far between from what I've seen. Not bad for my first car payment at age 27 lol

Personal opinion here, but I wouldn't spring for the platinum personally. I just didn't see the need to put out for the platinum. Were it me, I would put the money toward some decent floor mats, or seat covers.

I went with Rhino and cost was $404 after taxes in San Antonio. Bed looks good and is 6.5'.

I bought the Platinum premium liner from Line-X. I don't care for toppers or covers, and my truck sits in the sun while at work. I've seen way to many standard Line-X and Rhino liners that were faded badly and looked like crap. They also get chalky and transfer that to anything that touches it.

 

Mine has a lifetime guarantee not to fade with the UV Blocker, it is stronger, and looks nicer. It is more black than the standard liners, and so far, no problems.

 

I elected to have the plastic covers sprayed over, because it gives it a cleaner look, and no worries about your plugs coming up missing. I had mine installed in early May 2014, and it still looks like new.

 

I have some cell phone pics up in my gallery if you want to take a look. The pictures do no do it justice, and it is actually a shade or two darker than it looks in the pics.

 

The Platinum was definitely worth it for me, if you have a topper or cover to keep the sun at bay, maybe not as much. I buy my vehicles to keep for the long haul, and anything that helps keep it looking better for longer is always good, IMO.

 

Mine was $660, they did the the front rail, tailgate all the way down past the seam to the bottom, and the complete sill from the bed down behind the bumper. Super job!

I just ordered a bed rug for my '15 Sierra Crew Cab Standard Bed. Whole kit. Bed floor, sides, and tail gate.

 

Looking forward to getting it installed. Already scuffed up the inside of my tailgate hauling a bunch of 12' 6x6's this weekend. Grrr.
