Well that's good to hear! So all I will need is the spindles and blocks?

No, there is not difference than anyone running a rear lift block. The dealer puts 6" one on their rocky ridge trucks and I have a 6" rear block on my truck with no problems

3" spindles, 2.5 level, rc uca, 6" block

Ff- 44"

Rf- 45"

About the same as rcx 5" if not taller.

Alright its almost time where I have money for the set up you told me about. I have my mind set I'm going with the exact way you did it, but for now if I buy the spindles and install them before everything else (springtime), what are the other parts out of here do I need to make it work?

(Might run the height of the spindles for maybe 6 months or so and then put whatever else needs to go on later when I get more money. Or should I just wait til I have everything?

You can run just the spindles buy them selfs no need to buy anything else. Keep in mind though it you put then on your self you will have to brin the toe in about 1.5" on both side just to drive it to the alignment shop.

I have 295/70/18 nitto terra graps

And stock z71 18x8 rims

Will it make the back end lower than the front at all? Also, with any of this set up, can I run 17 inch rims or will that create any problems? And as for the "toe", what is that exactly? And thanks for the heads up :)

Toe how far you tires point in or have for example from above with the front of the truck goin forward...

Toe out: \--/

Toe in : /--\

You adjust it by turning the tie rod sleeve with a wrench while tire are on a moveable surface. I like to use smooth 1'x1' tile with oil in between.

And yes you'll be 1" Cali lean in the back

As for 17" yes you can run them but the spindle will be 1/4 from the wheel so you'll need a .5" spacer. If you run any thing wider than a 285 or 11 wide tire you'll need a 1" spacer. But keep in mind spindles increase your track width 1.5" over the back. That means your front tire will stick out 1.5" farther than your rear. So if you run a 1" spacer to clear a 33x12.5x17 it would be like running a 15" wide tire and you have to cut a lot of metal so you can turn. The best thing to do is run 18" rims or up!

Go onto gmfullsize.com and search " 3 spindles + 2.5" level. There is A LOT of info in there.

Alright that sounds great! I heard about 17"s creating some problems so I'm sure I can move up to 18" rims if it makes things less difficult

How did you paint your chrome white!?

I want to.

As much as people say it doesn't work, I used 6 coats of Plasti dip. Some said it wouldnt work, others said you need to rough up the surface so it would stick. I just taped off what I wanted to paint, cleaned the surface to my Liking and sprayed about 1 foot away from the surface. (I didn't take the bumpers off, too much of a hassle). Turned out to be amazing!

I have mid process pictures if you want to see them

Okay last question.lol

I am about to buy a set of rims, they are 18x9". If I run the same exact set up as you, 295/70/18 tires, would I have to do any cutting? And since I'm going up to 18" rims, I would no longer have to put wheel spacers in, correct?

ame='PETARO' timestamp='1378743882' post='1358217'] Thanks, •The spindles are ($350) Www.Doestch.com •2.5 level from ($80) Www.ccm.com •Upper arms(250) and blocks(60) www.roughcountry.com •Brake line bracket from fabtech (25) Skyjacker shocks (100) Www.rockymtsuspension.com

Hey Riveradoz, it has been some time now and i have bought some of the parts for the lift. i have the leveling kit, the spindles, and the skyjacker shocks.

i have been trying to find upper control arms, i found some for $250 from rc on ebay and it says it applies/fits only if you have steel lower control arms. are there any other type my truck may have or should i not worry about it?

also, i have been looking for the "brakeline bracket", is it literally a bracket or a whole new brakeline because the dealership appearantly doesnt even carry that. (cant find them anywhere)

as for the blocks, i take it i need longer U Bolts as well. i dont know where to buy the blocks nor the size U Bolt i need for correct fitment. otherwise, once i have all that, my rims and tires will be on end of may and hopefully ill be super satisfyied!

thank you for your help!

    • I was around and remember that era very well, so I'm calling b/s on that statement. If they were that bad no police department or taxi company would've bought a single one ... but they were used in both services (and fire) for DECADES. They were bulletproof and proven. Even the early 21st century ones weren't too bad! The early models were legendary.   Mine is proof, but people like atlas are blinded by agenda and refuse to believe facts right before their very eyes.   Even decades after they were built, a new generation started driving them, posting all their builds and shenanigans on Grandmarq.net and Crownvic.net. The failures would show up then, since they all were deep past 100k-150k miles by that point, and younger drivers tend to be a little aggressive, especially with vehicles than can lay a one-tire fire for as long as you hold your foot in it. They've more than proven themselves over the decades.   The only thing that'll really take them out is road salt. The bodies and sheet metal were garbage. A victim of the cheapout FoMoCo and GM have been partaking in before then, and since.   Today it's the stuff that counts - the undercarriage that rots away first!    GMs Caprice was no slouch either. Reliable as a stone ax - the opposite of what they build now.
    • Let me know how your vehicles do in 10 years. You don't know ******, kid. 😂    There's a reason that Panther platform was used as police, fire, and taxi service for DECADES ... long before you were born, apparently.
    • If your connector also has a big lever to get the connector on and off, you don't want to force the lever either way, as it becomes a bigger problem if you bust the lever or the mechanism it works.
    • It's just useful to disconnect the battery to prevent odd shorting out when unplugging/plugging stuff together.  I also  touch the two cable ends together (after disonnecting) to drain the small amount of stored battery energy in various modules.   I believe the main system where you need to be more concerned with, so you need to do the above and then wait some time, iss when you are working on the air bag system, to prevent inadvertent firing of the air bags.   The in-cab switches are just that, plain switches, it's generally not a problem to swap them in/out.  For my '12, I'll get an error message on the dash if I power up the truck w them unplugged, but that's it (power up= turn the ignition on).   The ITBC located above the spare tire is a computer that manages the trailer brake system.  That is probably more important to have the battery disconnected.  It does have to be programmed to the truck, either before or after it's installed, for it to work.  For my '12, I had a very hard time reinstalling the main connector to it (IDK if yours is the same or not), it turned out the silicon seal was jamming up, preventing it from going on all the way.  I finally got it fully installed by lubing the seal with a bit of dielectric grease, then it slid on and latched in place easily.
    • JR ! I just got the truck back from the Dealership today . The technician did a cold remote start on the truck this morning and it made the noise . It was determined that it was a starter issue and replaced it under warranty . Of course   it did not make the sound after a new starter was put in because the truck was not cold . We will we see what happens tomorrow morning when I start the truck cold  . Keep tuned !   Oh I found a video on YouTube of a cold start and it did the same thing your truck and mine do , I will see if I can find it and post it up
