Guys make sure you check you cans OFTEN in these cold winter months..... made a trip from Dubuque, Iowa to near Gurnee, IL about 3 hr drive then back to Madison, WI another 1hr 45 min in about 15-20 degree weather and my can was over half full already with milky watery liquid.

I'm over half full right now. Got up to a high of 10° today. Was -17°F this morning. LOTS of water in these temps!

I agree. I had no idea what kind of fittings I was getting with the E2-X single valve kit I purchased a couple weeks ago. The fittings that are pictured in the can are what I got, and I assumed (yeah I know) they were for braided and not plain rubber hose. I went and bought new fittings from Summit Racing, just to find out after I installed my can, I could have used those supplied fittings afterall. A member had posted pics of his install with those same ones. They look better too. So when the weather breaks I will change them out.

 

GDI TECH, you mentioned to a member in a post ( don't know which thread) to get the dual valve, as it will evacuate better. Well, before I committed, I asked on your website if the dual valve was better, and would it make a difference. I really wanted the dual, but was told that the single is all that was needed for my application. So, the single it was. Now I read after the fact, the dual would have been better! A bit disappointed to say the least.

 

BTW, the product and parts supplied are awesome! :thumbs:

The dual isn't necessary. Guys are putting them on to have constant evacuation of the crankcase gases which helps keep contaminants from settling into your oil by maintaining constant suction of the crankcase gases but this is not how your stock engine works. A single valve can maintains the stock engine function of how crankcase gases are evacuated except it filters the gases of course. As long as you change your oil like you should, the constant evacuation of gases with a dual valve set up is not necessary and just overkill in my opinion.

VERY important in the cold months! These work so well they are trapping and removing a bunch that most do not. Try not to let it get over 1/3 full as that is where testing shows some begins to pull through and still be ingested.

Correct. The stock PCV system only evacuates at idle, cruise, and deceleration. The dual valve adds a secondary evacuation suction surce that will take over and continue evacuation during acceleration and WOT operation for the best results and keeps the oil cleaner and engine wear at a minimum. You can convert any of their single valves to dual valves. fondupot has a great video on this. And to clarify, the fittings that come with the E2-X systems work with standard hose OR AN braided hose. These are like $26-$28 each to buy separate from Summit, etc.

 

So to clarify, the single valve in comparison to most any other can is still far more effective, the dual valve is the best complete evacuation improving on the OEM PCV systems functions, and the "Ultra", is for big power builds, forced induction, or those in cold climates that are going to see quick fill rates. It doubles the capacity and is the ultimate system.

 

As I don't work for them, I can only make suggestions so any that got a single valve and want to convert, watch fondupots video on it and those looking to get one just insist what you want.

I agree. But I'd take that a step further and say it's also unnecessary to do because those contaminates and the oil life are irrelevant if you change your oil like you should in the first place. I'm not saying it isn't serving a beneficial function. Yes technically it is. I'm just clarifying for the guys on the fence that the functional benefit is not required. The contaminates that the catch can is catching are so minute given the total oil quantity in in the engine in the first place, but it's HUGE when it comes to reducing buildup on the valves.

I put on my full Elite system at about 4.5k miles and have put about 1k miles on it, including two drives of about 6 hours at 70+MPH in temperatures in the single digits. When I emptied it for the first time, the Catch can had maybe an inch of crud that I poured out in a glass bowl -not a pretty sight!

My darn phone pictures turn the shots -the first is looking in the can, the second is looking at the side of the glass bowl and the last is looking up though the bottom of the bowl.

I want to order one of these kits...

 

Is the $349 option the one that come with everything. I domt want to have to buy additional crap... Just want it all at once.

 

I plan on a blower so is the dual escape version the best one?

That's correct, purchase the Dual Valve Catch Can and it will come with everything you need. If you like, we can include an NPT plug with your shipment so you can block one exit port until you're ready to use it.

I believe that is what l paid and it included the catch can and clean air separator.

I'm not sure about the dual scape for a blower. I bought the same system, at the same time for my 2015 Corvette Z51 and it had the dual lines -but I believe it is because of the dry sump. I'm sure the engineer at Elite can answer that one!

So I have a stupid question and I feel stupid too. On the elite e-2x catch can, what happens if you install the hoses backward? I was going through some things and found that I didn't install the high flow check valve. So i went online and this time they had a video on the truck so I took a look at it and realized I mixed the intake and exit ports. I think I should be fine since I didn't have the high flow check value. I did collect a bunch of gunk /oil the last time I checked it about a 3 weeks ago and just now. I have only used it for about 1000 miles. I fixed it now and I have switched the cables around and added the check value on the exit port (one on the side not center!).

 

I took the can apart and i looked inside and the center had a tube that went down 2/3 of the can.

 

I feel like an idiot.

Catch can PSA: they fill up quick during the winter up here. I emptied the can after 6500miles this fall and not much was in it. Just looked after 2000 miles of winter driving and it was full (mostly all milky water). This is the elite E2 can with more capacity too. Looks like I need to get in the habbit of every 1000 miles during the winter season.

Looks like I need to get in the habbit of every 1000 miles during the winter season.

 

I do it about every time I get gas. Easy to get home, pop hood, unscrew it and dump it in with the used oil. Good practice to get into I think.
