Yes, ill get a pic of it.

As for the straight hoses, I was kind of limited by the length that they sent me. I'll correct it and give it more slack when I get the correct hoses and fittings for the job to be done right.

How much is everyone seeing in their catch can. After about 4600 miles I have collected a total of 4.1oz of oil. Does that seem low or is it normal?

I saw about the same amount from mine (Elite) a little over an ounce per 1k miles.

I just had a thought about these Catch Cans. So they start filling up with fluid, what if you hit some bumps and it starts sloshing around, could the intake take a big ol gulp?

Posted

I suppose that's possible, especially with the roads we have out here in Massachusetts ... but I'd never let mine even get close to that deep.

Yeah I thought about that as well and drained mine before I got down to the beach knowing I'd be 4 wheeling on the sand and bouncing around

About the same ride you get on any Massachusetts roadway ...

By March, there's way more sand on the roads in MA than there is on the beach!

More on-topic, while it's clear that the cans catch a lot of stuff, is there any evidence that it stops valve deposits? (Has anyone put one on one of those Audis that have really bad deposit issues and seen the issue fixed?)

Figured out my original question.

However, I have another.

I've read that the Elite Engineering clean side separator that goes into the stock oil filler location, is not a good idea if you live in cold climates.

Where I live, we see the extremes of both heat and cold. Can anyone comment on this?

I installed the Mike Norris can in my 2014 with about 4800 miles, this is what I got at 5600 miles. I was really surprised I collected this much so soon. I'm 100% sold on catch cans now.

My first 600 mile run collected 5x that much, but 90% of it was moisture, since the average temp at the time was 35°F. You guys on the left coast won't ever see that, with the warmer temps and drier air.

Ok, mine was mostly oil and the temps have been averaging 80-90°F

Those quantities varying by temp are typical. Here in VA, we have cold winters and hot summers. In the summer I'm getting about 2 oz of oil every 1500 miles. In the winter I'm getting a 6 oz. mix of oil and water every 600-700 miles. On average.
