Washed, clayed, and waxed both! Only took 8 hours yesterday lol. PS 1000 miles later on new tires and still no vibrations! #Chevyrunsdeep!

6" ProComp Lift, N-Fab cab length steps, N-Fab Rear Runner and N-Fab Front Light Bar, Rigid Industries led lights, Bak Industries G2 cover, Undercover SwingCase, Nitto Trail Grapplers, 20" Moto Metal wheels. First Chevrolet and so far so good, having fun. I have been utilizing this forum since I got this Silverado and really appreciate all the great posts that have helped me out. Finally felt like I should try to get involved and help out others as well.

Really like the back end Debadged. Makes the truck look alot cleaner.

I like your front and rear GMC logos. How did you make the letters black instead of red?

I used black plasti dip. You can buy it at walmart by the spray paint. I masked off the emblems with masking tape and sprayed the plasti dip directly on the emblems. I watched a YouTube video that showed how to do it. I'll admit I was a little skeptical at first to if it would really peel off but it did. Just make sure you clean the emblem good and apply at least 5 to 6 coats. I applied 6 coats each 20 minutes apart and I allowed 40 minutes after the final coat before peeling it off. It turned out great. I have had it on there for almost 2 months now and it hasn't chipped or peeled any.

im just wondering what is the point in lowering a truck? i mean you cant haul anything now, it pretty much useless for what it is intended for now... unless it runs a 10 second quarter mile i don't understand the point in it?

The point is personal preference. I can haul the same amount of stuff you can haul I just don't have to lift as high. I still have the same springs, same axle, same transmission, same motor.

 

Like I said Personal Preference.

How do you figure it can't haul anything? I've haul stuff with lowered trucks in the past, and in some cases they performed better then the stock counterpart. I use to haul my Drag truck to the track with a lowered 97 sierra, it did great. As I see it lowering a truck can make it easy to get things in and out of the bed too, depending on what you need to get in the bed, such as a motorcycle (less of an angle to go up). Lowering a truck doesn't necessarily alter it's capacity, in most cases it just alters it's ride height…

 

I couldn't agree more, we all use our trucks differently and some require lifted trucks whereas some of us kind of need a lowered truck. If you use it everyday on a job site or something like that then by all means lift it as high as you'd like..... but if you are loading things in the back and want easy access to them then lower it as much as you'd like (as much as possible to be useful for what you do).

Like me, I use my truck as a daily driver and haul everything under the sun with it. Doesn't matter that it is lowered 5/7. Doesn't matter at all. It'll pull whatever I hook to it like it was meant to. And, if it makes the rear sag too much I can always put some air in the rear helper bags. No issues at all.

People always criticize lowered trucks and raised trucks and say things like "That's ridiculous, you can't even use that truck like it was intended to be used now". I don't get it. Are people just mad because others are doing things to their trucks that you don't like? Well, guess what, it's not your truck. Why not just appreciate the effort that someone else put into their vehicle and do what you want to your own vehicle? Show some appreciation for people who do things differently (as opposed to everyone else out there who keeps doing the same things over and over and over again ) and then criticizing others who want to be original.

 

Can't we all just get along? LOL

What size wheels and tires did you pull off?

 

The stockers were the Eagle 275/55 R20 LS-2's but the black wheels were the Strut 295/45 R22's

    • No such thing as regenerative braking on a pure ICE vehicle.     Regenerative braking is the re-capture of energy from electric motors and stores it in the battery pack.  So hybrids, PHEV and EVs have regenerative braking.     What you are seeing is the charging system changing modes is all.  Its likely entering charge mode for some sort of reason is all.  All of the charging modes will be listed below.   As for L10 vs D.  L10 turns off automatic grade braking.  L10 puts you in control of grade downshifts where in D it will automatically do it based on brake pedal position and other factors.  Otherwise L10 and D drive exactly the same aside from that one aspect.    Battery Sulfation Mode The BCM will enter this mode when the interpreted Generator output voltage is less than 13.2 V for 45 minutes. When this condition exists the BCM will enter Charge Mode for 2–3 minutes. The BCM will then determine which mode to enter depending on voltage requirements.   Charge Mode The BCM will enter Charge Mode when ever one of the following conditions are met:   Windshield wipers are ON for more than 3 s. Climate Control Voltage Boost Mode Request is true, as sensed by the HVAC control module via serial data. High speed cooling fan, rear defogger, and HVAC high speed blower operation can cause the BCM to enter the Charge Mode. The estimated battery temperature is less than 0°C (32°F). Battery State of Charge is less than 80%. Vehicle speed is greater than 145 km/h (90 mph) A current sensor malfunction exists. System voltage is determined to be below 12.56 V When any one of these conditions is met, the system will set targeted generator output voltage to a charging voltage between 13.9–15.5 V, depending on the battery state of charge and estimated battery temperature.   Fuel Economy Mode The BCM will enter Fuel Economy Mode when the estimated battery temperature is at least 0°C (32°F) but less than or equal to 80°C (176°F), the calculated battery current is less than 15 A and greater than −8 A, and the battery state-of-charge is greater than or equal to 80%. Its targeted generator output voltage is the open circuit voltage of the battery and can be between 12.5–13.1 V. When fuel economy mode is active, the generator is not charging, only maintaining open circuit battery voltage. The BCM will exit this mode and enter Charge Mode when any of the conditions described above are present.   Headlamp Mode The BCM will enter Headlamp Mode when ever the head lamps are ON (high or low beams). Voltage will be regulated between 13.9–14.5 V.   Start Up Mode When the engine is started the BCM sets a targeted generator output voltage of 14.5 V for 30 s.   Tow/Haul Mode (if applicable) Pressing the Tow/Haul Mode button located on the center stack, the vehicle system voltage is raised and the remote (non-vehicle) battery will be charged. Having the headlamps on will raise the system voltage and if the Tow/Haul button is applied it will not serve any purpose. The voltage is regulated between 13.9-14.5 V.      
    • Hello from Australia Just sharing that there is now a way to delete the active shutters entirely with just a plug in module. Opens up tons of room to light bars etc.
    • I have an observation and a question... 1) I watch the voltage closely because I have had to dial in the cut-in/cut-out voltages of the battery separator to my camper.  The "smart" charging drives me nuts.  Anyway, I noticed that when coasting for a while, and especially if lightly using the brakes (though not necessary), the voltage goes up from mid/high-13 volts to mid/high-14 volts.  Then it drops back down after stopping or going again.  Consistently!   The only explanation I can come up with is REGENERATIVE BRAKING!  Well, maybe that's a little bit of an exaggeration, but it's certainly free extra battery charging.   2) Driving on mountain roads I will use L and vary the max gear.  Things straighten out and I end up in L10.  Sometimes I leave it there for a while.  Is there any difference between L10 and D?   
    • Do you think this width might affect the chalk test with a higher pressure closer to 65psi? I think lowering the pressure makes sense to get the tread to lay flatter
