2014 Silverado/Sierra Tips and Tricks

Anyone know if it is possible to connect a (SamDisk or similar) MP3 player to the Intellilink System?

14 Sierra Dble Z71 5.3 Texas

Not sure about the Sierra, but for the Silverado, I would start with the Owners Manual on page 4-3 and 4-4 where it shows the types of connections (USB, Auxilliary, etc.) and then 7-18 under Infotainment for USB playing MP3 Players and USB drives. It is followed by SD cards and Auxilliary connected audio music players on 7-21. That should get you going.

More questions? There is some good info under the pinned frequent topics regarding USB Drives. I hope this helps.

Chuckl - will re-read the owners manual again... Onstar says that they cannot be connected, but that didn't make much sense to me. May just download everything to a flashdrive and not mess with the SanDisk.

Not sure if this has been covered or not. It's nothing awesome, just keeps your console a little cleaner looking.

If you use a USB connection to wire your phone or tablet you can route the wire down the inside edge of the console to the rubber tray below the dash. The lower edge is rubber and appears made to route and hide cables. Use one of the USB connections in the main bin and run the cable down behind the movable cup holder.

The cup holder can be rotated 180° and one looks like it's supposed to go one way but will work either direction. One direction does allow a little more room to run the cable however.

There's more info about formats and such here

Just a dumb finding that is prob in the 28 pages but didn't see it...the cup holder in the bucket seat style console lifts out, can be moved forward or removed, and exposes more storage.

What can be done to increase the range of my integrated garage door opener. I have to be in front of the door for it to work. In my '11 HD, I could be turning in the drive 75' away and it would open?

There's a whole thread on this one...bottom line, the 2014 doesn't seem to work as good with the older garage door openers. My 2011 Silvy worked much better than my 2014 with my 12 year old openers. Then I had to replace the garage door openers and it works much better. Before I replaced the garage door openers, I had to be close to the door with the 2014. Now with the new openers, I can press the button a block away and it will open or close. Some members had dealer replace their Homelink unit with no change. IDK what the issue is...

Now that's strange... With the remote that came with my opener, my range is about 100'-150'. With the Homelink in my truck, it's at least 300', maybe 400'. And no holding the button; one light click from 350' away and the door opens immediately.

For the garage door opener, try one of the other buttons. 2 of my 3 work better. The middle seems to lack the range as the others.

Does anyone know how to get rid of the "Stabilitrack" and "Brake Assist" error messages caused by a Range Device? I disconnected the batt and also hooked the truck up to a OBD tester, but no luck or codes to delete. The dealer was able to delete them last oil change, but I've got a while until the next and don't feel like going up there just for that.

I saw instructions about clearing the error on the Range web site in FAQ section.

Mine is the same way with the new openers, but not with the old openers. It seems like hit and miss...

nice tips. I have the SLE All-Terrain with powerfold mirrors and as mentioned, there is no option to have them auto fold when pressing the lock/unlock button on the fob. Oh well...

With regard to the free 2yr oil changes, my dealer also told me they won't change it unless there is less than 20% life remaining.

Just do what I did, tell them to show it to you in writing where it states gm will not cover it if done early. They showed me in writing what they thought stated it had to go by the oil meter but it also says or when the customer wants. I read another thread where someone had this issue too and asked for it in writing and they just went ahead and did it.

I was hoping the part about replacing the openers wasn't the answer! Mine are about 12 yrs old as well...

Anyone know if you can view the backup cam without being in reverse?
