In my manual it shows that feature for Pandora, XM and Bluetooth Media.

That's what my manual says too, so maybe it was a fluke that it worked on live radio????

I know it was live radio too because I showed it to my wife and she commented on it.

I bought my '14 Silverado a year ago. When I tried to pause live FM radio, like you said, it worked. I could pause, play, rewind. Now all I listen to is Pandora, so I don't know if it still works. I'll try it and report back.

BTW, is Pandora supposed to rewind? I can pause, play and skip, but no rewind.

Mine is a 2015 so it's apples and oranges, but mine doesn't even display the buttons on FM. Perhaps it has something to do with FM HD? Wasn't that in the 2014's but not the 2015's?

Pandora does not rewind. I believe it's a function of the company itself not allowing it.

I can pause and rewind non HD FM stations in my 14. I was really looking forward to the slacker radio that never surfaced in these trucks tho.

what car does she have if you don't mind sharing I think various aftermarket alarms will add that feature

My VW Golf before my Denali kind of had it. It was actually built in, but it is disabled by default. I have a cable that I could plug into my ODBC port, and it would allow me to scan all controllers (computers) for codes, see detailed information about the codes, clear codes, and access all controller, and change various settings - Is there anything like this for these trucks?

Examples of changes I made on my Golf:

- Windows up and down by Key FOB

- Sunroof closing via Key FOB (closes with Windows UP command - wouldnt open though, oddly enough)

- Adjust MPG calc to be more accurate

- Adjust my "lane change" blinkers from 3 blinks to 5, and add an option to change the setting in my MFA (what VW's DIC was called)

- Enable tear drop wiping (when you spray your windows, it wipes three times, then pauses for two seconds and wipes one more time).

- Add an optional toggle setting in my MFA, to enable and disable my DRL's

- Tell the Lighting controller that I installed OEM LED tails from Europe (this is necessary, because they draw much less power, and the US cars think they bulbs are burnt out if you do not tell it you changed them)

- Enable Gauge Sweep on startup

- You could also prevent LED DRL's from dimming when headlights were on (I did not do this)

- You could allow the disabling of ESC (not just disable TC and lower ESC, which is all that could be done without the reprogramming the controller); I know I have seen threads here with complaints of it re-engaging over 35 mph.

If anyone is familiar with it, I did all of this with a VCDS (aka VAG-COM) from Ross Tech. Unfortunately VCDS only works on Volkswagen Auto Group vehicles (VW, Audi, Skoda, SEAT).

Please tell me there is something similar for these trucks?

I would love to play with the computers and see what can be changed. It would probably allow owners of lower trim to activate features of higher trim models... this is really what a lot of VCDS owners did on their cars in addition to maintenance work that it allowed you to do on your own. VW actually doesn't sell the highest trims for Golf/GTI in the US (or the lowest), only mid low to mid high, but for cost and time, they put the same almost all the same controllers in all trims, and just disabled high trim features via software programming on the lower trim vehicles (crazy right - features are there, but they use software to prevent you from getting to them, but I bet GM does the same damn thing).

A feature that I like is the downhill speed control feature (different from the Z71 downhill feature). If you are driving down downhill for a stretch on the highway, If you double tap the brake, it will hold your current speed. If you are coasting down a hill, instead of having to ride your brakes or keep tapping them to stay a certain speed to keep from creeping up on the fool in front of you riding their brakes, just double tap and it will hold your speed without having to turn on cruise control.

Gonna have to try this on my way home. I have to go over a yall bridge and it's got a decent length of downhill travel when getting off the bridge

Ive had my truck for 4 months now and was wondering a few things that may have been addressed in this topics.

1. Does the nav show maps in the 3 month onstar trial or is it another onstar program that shows them?

2. Ive had the 4 wheel up engaged in the snow recently and while turning from a parking spot forward she hardly wants to move.

3. Why is a part of the exhaust flattened connecting the two on my Z71? Im sure this robs some horses.

Other than these few ?s I love my truck and would never get rid of her.

1) The 8" Onscreen nav is not related to onstar other than, with a subscription or during the trial you can send addresses to it.

2) Normal

3) Not sure, I have a custom exhaust.

Ive sent addresses to onstar with no problems, it just show the turn by turn.

So I have to get a subscription to get nav in my truck, Do I need to have the dealer update the computer?

Thanks for the help?

    • Maybe, but it seems he is the only one that has backed up data to prove what he is stating. I think he is doing this more because he enjoys it and wants to get the information out to us. He's got the knowledge and access to the proper equipment and having the funds doesn't hurt.  I would love to do what he is doing and would do it if and when I hit the Powerball.  I'm not a Tribologist by any means but love to learn what I can.   I would bet there would be doubting people out there if a completely independent lab with high quality work and highly respected in the automotive industry, put out information like this.  The world can't be pleased, one just has to take the information that they are given, do more of their own research to find actual lab data to back up what they are trying to figure/find out.  Most don't bother, they just want to believe what they first see.     I don't have the minimax but my 6.2 in my 2019 Silverado with 64k miles shows excellent UOA results with 0w-20 and for my own purposes 5w-20.  Since not much of a change using 5w. I liked the data sheet information on the SS 5w-20 and figured I would give it a try.  Still the same viscosity at 100℃.   In the end we all just do what makes us happy, life is too short to get upset over trivial social media.   On a side note, I do feel GM has dropped the ball and just cares about the bottom dollar and not quality anymore.  "Like a Rock" has been long gone.  Seems "Built Ford Tough" has as well.
    • Better than stock but that's like putting lipstick on a pig
    • Hello, my 3 month old Sierra Elevation wont recognize a trailer with electric brakes? All the lights work correctly, but no power to the brakes?   This is the factory installed brake controller. If you manually push the knob, the display shows the power % but does not light up like my 2022 silverado.   I have an appointment with the dealer, but was checking to see if anyone else has seen this issue.    Thanks,
    • Been using SS 0w-20 from new, but wanted to change to the 5w-20 because I liked the data on the data sheet, to me it seems like a little better product. But as you can see, not much difference. This is also with running a mix of 10 gallons E85 to a tank topped with 93. It isn't a flex fuel vehicle so any higher I get a CEL for running lean on both banks. Yes my mileage takes a hit. Instead of 20 mpg I normally get on trips I get 17mpg. This is also using EaO17 filter.  What is amazing is I have the AMSOIL cone filter on it since I have the GM Performance intake installed and that air filter has 44k miles on it.  I just take it out and shop vac it off once a year.  I use the upholstery tool on my shop vac.  Works well.
    • So, lot's of googling and reading, and a trial fit found, that indeed they hit the newer fatter caliper. I did some re-testing today, and found just 3/16" worth of washers was enough for the wheel to spin freely. I added 2 more on each, and again it spun freely. Tested lock to lock with the 4 washers, about 5/16" not quite the 3/8" Im considering, but pretty close. No issues. I've been looking at the BORA .375" spacers and using extended lugnuts to get back lost thread due to the spacer. All the ET lugs I've seen are all .33" reach inside the wheel lug holes. For those that don't like spacers or think they're unsafe, I think it depends on what type of spacers you're using and making sure you get good quality hubcentric ones, and if you're using bolt on ones, regular mainenance, checking the spacer lugs. Not wanting or needing that much spread. Looking for the minimum that will let me run these rims and tires.  it does look to stick out a little, but I really want put these on. and use the stock all-terrains in the winter.
