What setting are you running yours? I'm doing 10/15, and I am still rubbing the stupid fender inserts on some occasions, and I am not as low as you are right now. I'm at a 3/5 drop. I wish Viking made the 12" springs in 650 or 700lb. I just downloaded their catalog and they go up to 600. 

I have mine at 10/10 I used to eat up my fender inserts and bottom out on dips n such if I didn’t slow down. Since I’ve had the vikings on I don’t bottom out at all. Yea my truck is pretty slammed.  My fender inserts are torn up from when I had the belltechs. It’s seriously a night and day difference between the belltechs and Vikings.

I agree. Night and day difference. Which shocks they sent you? I got the C209 with the 12” 600lb coils. If I’m by myself in the truck I rub on big dips on the road, but with the wife and daughter it rubs quite often. I saw some pics on that Atomic website and the red springs they show there look a lot thicker than the ones I have on. I’m going to shop around on QA1 site to see if I can find some 700lb springs to try out. Viking recommend offsetting the compression/rebound at least 4 clicks more on the rebound. I’ll try bringing it down and see how it behaves.

I have Viking c217 shocks and Viking 10" 850lb Springs. I’ll try upping my rebound to 14 then. But the 10/10 has been good.

I think that’s why you don’t bottom down. You’re running 250lb more in your springs. I think I’m going to get the 750lb that Eibach sells and run those.

Yea when you order from atomic he asks you to measure the distance between the center of your rim to the bottom of your fender and he determines what parts he’ll send. That’s why I went with him instead of twisted.

Just lowered my truck and I have a few questions.. With the Rough Country 2/4 kit, it comes with a flip kit and lift hangers.. I opted to not install the hangers and go with the full drop of a flip kit. Will my pinion angles be off since the kit is advertised as a 4” rear drop and I went 7”?

 

Also the front drop consisted of a strut relocation bracket. Also included were camber plates. My question is, are these necessary for alignment? I didn’t have time to put them on and I am wondering if my truck will hold an alignment without those plates. 
I attached before and after pics. Better pictures to come and also 2” spindles coming soon!

It sits 1 3/8” higher in the front now

If the front can't be aligned, then yes they are required. If it can be, then no.

As for the pinion alignment, as soon as you take it for a drive you know if it needs shims. It'll have a vibration, if it doesn't, then you are probably fine. 

At 7" you'll probably bottom out, you'll likely need a notch. And check your tail shaft to drive shaft engagement, you may need to shorten the driveshaft. Or everytime you hit a bump the suspension could be shoving the driveshaft into the tail housing, eventually this will break something. 

And does rough countrys lowing kit, still mount the front strut under the lower control arm? If so, I'd get belltech drop struts and get rid of that garbage.

My alignment was off once and the alignment shops told me the camber plates won’t do anything. They said to get the offset camber bushings or some companies sell upper control arms to get your alignment to spec.

I have been looking at some camber correction uppers. Will probably get some when I get my 2” spindles

I haven’t taken it to get an alignment yet. When I drove it after I was done, it drove just as straight as from the factory, it just has negative camber.

And if I’m not mistaken, these trucks can handle 7” of drop in the rear without requiring a notch. I will say that it hasn’t bottomed out and I haven’t felt any hard jarring or slamming as if the rear end was trying to get shoved back. 
 

And yes, this is the rough country kit with strut relocation.

Wanted to share some tips for guys on here with lowered Regular Cabs looking for a smoother ride.After trying the typical things like more weight in the bed and lower tire pressures I decided the ride was still too stiff so I tried going from stock front shocks with 3" drop spacers to full Belltech coilovers and it was expensive but did nothing at all for ride quality.The biggest improvements were all in the rear going from the Belltech SP Street Performance shocks everyone on here runs to Belltechs Nitro 2 shocks instead.This made a big difference in my RCSB and if you want it even softer rear shock extenders with the Nitro 2s are even better

Before and After install of Belltech 2" drop shackles (leaf spring spacer block NOT removed) Bilstein 5100 rear shocks installed in both pictures. Thought some of you may be interested in as close of an identical side by side shot as I could get. 

 

btw...LOVE how it looks now compared to before. Left the block in because i tow things from time to time and didn't want too much squat. Also, best part about doing this mod is that the tailgate is now a much better height for me, at 6'3". I can't imagine how it must be loading one of these trucks, modded or not, for anyone shorter.

First post, after a lot of searching...

Planning on picking up a RCSB Silverado, 2016, Z71.

Need to tow up to about 6klbs. Not opposed to helper air bags, but want truck dead level unloaded, with enough drop to be recognized, but still enough room for 22x10, -24ish offset, preferably a 12.50 mud terrain. Doesn’t have to be 12.50, but I want wide without stretch.. and with a strong shoulder of a mud terrain.

I think it’s on the outskirts of possible, with a little trimming, and think a 2/4 or 2/5 would be best option.

Problem is that I see some kits at 2/4 level, and some kits with 5” rear drop still with a ton of rake. I know there are tolerances and all, but on average-what rear drop gives dead level rear on a 2” front drop?

Or do you think this is unreasonable, and I should just drop the rear level and run 33x12.50s on 22x10 with stock front end?

Based on the 2000 samples in the SPEEDiagnostix database, increasing the oil viscosity in these engines, even those run on the track, showed no significant difference in results.   The smoking gun was in the oil chemistry. That is where the data shows higher instances of more wear. Molybdenum was the key; the higher the amount, the less the wear. Speed postulates that higher viscosity oils have more thickeners to artificially inflate their viscosity numbers. These thickeners lose viscosity under shear, and the result is that not all oils of the same viscosity have the same shear stability.   Having enough viscosity is the most important characteristic, but according to Speed, once that required viscosity level is reached, additive chemistry matters more than additional viscosity. Speed also states, oil pressure problems on the racetrack aren’t a viscosity problem; it’s an oiling system problem. Running a thicker oil is just a band-aid for an underlying oiling system problem.
    • Can it still be Assembled II?   Viscosity on the decline by various means. Heat on the rise making that worse. Engine RPM in the tank. Smaller motors with more boost trying to emulate an electric motor. Full torque, zero rpm. Then we will triple the OCI. Argh.    But wait....there is more. LSPI has pushed a shift from Ca to Mg and as that cost more PLUS the run to lower sulfur compounds the TBN is moving in the wrong direction for the increased OCI's demanded.    That not being enough to placate a demand for a parameter they can't measure the other sulfur bearing compounds are also under attack. That would be zinc and phosphorus sulfonate compounds. To some degree those are being replaced with boron esters and others, i.e. titanium ect. All of which have shorter service lives. And there there is the "Secrete Sauce" marketing for AW adds that 'Can't be detected by UOA's" but trust me because I (the blenders) never ever lie.    Spoiler alert; ALL additives are sacrificial! Smaller amounts of the old blended with less robust versions of the new do not equal longer service lives. So what are the blenders recommending? Wait for it.......   MOVING THE GOAL POSTS! OMG      Let's declare the long standing TAN/TBN crossover irrelevant and tell people that soot is a great 'graphite' based lubricant which can aid tribo films. Wait, what? Let's declare that the standards used for oxidation and nitration were to conservative and can be expanded. Let's tell them that because GDI fuel dilution, although being a VISCOSITY KILLER and an acid generator is actually okay because we have better base oils that limit viscosity failure limits. (Said knowing this is measured in fractions of a centipoise and in bases not commonly used in shelf oils)   Lying from the heart is not just the new normal but we have a public, a very young public, that is so ignorant of the facts and so sure of their "RESEARCH" into AI driven models base in regurgitated  instead of scientific research based unvarnished, peer reviewed FACTS that the incoming guard is loosing their grip on reality and the OEM's are tickled pink while the blends bend the knee.    You have an ever limited set of tools to work with. And sooner or later those will be taken from you as the API and the EPA strangle the last remaining fluids from the system. What you have left is your wits. If you care to use them.    At some point in the very near future it will not longer be possible to do "What is best for the machine", and be replaced with "The best you have access too". You WILL be rewarded with half the life and twice the cost. That isn't that hard to predict.         
    • I trust you saw the other comment where he knew what he was talking about !. Yes, these darned newer vehicles with all their so smart they are stupid technology, goes and drains the battery down. As you might see my other comment, I installed a Noco 5 battery tender under the hood and at this point still have the cord routed so I have to lift the hood and then plug it in but am typically parked in a garage or a shed so its not risking the engine hood in the wind. That way I am assured or hopefully so of not finding I have a battery drawn down and can't even start the truck and that also damages the battery to draw it down too far. 
    • I guess no surprise my guesses were wrong !, at least now I know if I ever happen to see it grayed out in my own truck as to what is going on.    I never happened to catch my truck with it grayed out, it seemed every time I would test to see if there was an update it never found anything and yet more than once I would check to see if there was an update and there was nothing, then a day later or even that same morning I would drive to town and after more than one engine shut down in town as I did my errands it would pop up that there is an update now ready to install and the only place I have a connection to the internet is at home by wifi so its not as if it grabbed the download while driving. I don't trust these new vehicles due to all the crap they can decide to do while sitting for some days not running and run the battery down so most of the time if I know the truck will sit for a few days I plug in the battery tender I have mounted under the hood and so the only time the truck must have downloaded software was when it was sitting in the garage where the signal is awful but I have that tender plugged in and somehow it managed to download it. I honestly detest all this crap, way to easy to leave a person stranded.    Since I don't trust any of it I don't do the install of the already downloaded software until I get home and sometimes have even sat in the truck to watch what its doing as its going through the process to its conclusion as its not like it is set up that it will tell you the next time you fire up the engine that the update that was initialed actually installed or installed properly. Yes I can go into the updates and see the list. After I go through the install where I feel its safe to do so in case it breaks down as a result, I will plug in the battery tender after the fact to recharge as I don't know how much power its taking just to do the install and that can take a while for it to install. 
    • Thanks for the reply. All settings were correct and the engine was off, as it was supposed to be. It turned out to be something simple. I took a drive for about an hour. I must have had a low battery without knowing it. The voltage gauge on the display looked ok. At the end of my drive, I shut off the engine and the update prompt came up and it updated normally. It’s ironic because one of the features of the update is a reduction of battery drain.
