At 7.25 how close is your axle to your frame rails?

Not really sure how close to the frame. It looks like it has plenty of room. I haven't bottomed out any, but I have not really driven it too much since I am still working on some modifications in the garage on it.

Also, sorry for the late response. For some reason, I am not getting notified when someone comments on this site.

I went through the 226 pages looking for the torque specs on the shackle bolts. Putting drop shackles on my ‘18 Sierra this weekend and haven’t been able to find the spec. If I missed it, my apologies. Anyone have them?

What drop size and kit did you go with for that? It's perfect.

Just checking in about something I was going to do years ago, but only got around to doing today.

I have a 2016 Silverado WT, 4X4, ECLB.

A few years back i installed the McGauthy's spindles in the front, and 2" shackles in the back.

Today I knocked out the rear blocks between the springs and the axel, and replaced the bolts with the shorter style.

So total drop now I guess is 2 / 3.25.

I stuck my head under the truck, and it may be sitting on the OEM bump stops, or maybe just touching them, not sure. I know a few years back I had a load of topsoil in the box and driving home it felt solid. I assume it was well down on the bump stops at that time.

I Jump up and down on the tailgate (I'm about 250 pounds) and it seems fine, not solid, like the day with the topsoil and it seems the shocks were working good. After the blocks were removed (and new 22" tires) the mechanic said it seems to ride better now overall (I picked him up this morning and he drove it back, then picked me up this afternoon).

In the driveway on a small grade it currently measures 35-3/8" from the center of the wheel well in the fender to the ground, Front and rear.

Here's my question...

I am planning on towing my 02 Monte Carlo on a (U-Haul aluminum) flat deck 1/2 way across Canada later this summer. Should I do anything about the bump stops? Has anyone maybe taken a hack saw and cut one of the hoops off the end of an OEM bump stop maybe?

Also I was told by U-Haul the sweet spot for the distance to the top of the ball plate should be 18 - 20". The top of my receiver is currently 16". So at a minimum I am going to have to flip some type of hitch to get me in that range.

Any / all comments about my current setup and what to expect on a 3,000+ mile driver later this summer, are welcomed. Curious if the current setup is fine, or if I should address anything.

Thanx,

Krunch

I cut my factory bump stops on my truck like 5 years ago when I did the same rear drop on my crew cab. I've towed trailers with it countless times, no issues at all. Sure it rides the bump stop still with a heavy load in the back but I don't care at all.

How many of you have transmission spacers installed with your lowering kit? I initally lowered my truck with the IHC 3"/5" kit (I have since put back in stock LCA's and put in drop spindle - I kept the flip kit) and it did not include a spacer. If you can get the pinion angles addressed without it do you still need it?

I'm looking for the best way to lower the rear of my 2014 2WD 1500 about 1.5". That will still give it about a 1.5" rake which should mean level when I'm towing. I considered drop shackles but was reading about removing the rear lift plate that's between the axle and spring.

My question is can the leaf spring sit directly on the axle or is some sort of spacer / bushing required for proper alignment and isolation?

If you do the shackles and blocks you will be dropping more than the 2" the shackles provide. I did nothing to the bump stops.

I just finished installing an adjustable 3/4, 4/6, 5/7 kit on my 2018 regular cab Sierra. I first installed it to be 4/6 but was not happy with the look. Looked to high in the back. I then installed the factory hanger back and it gave me an additional 1-1/4” drop. Now it looks like the front sits a bit higher in the front. Front is Maxtrac 2” spindles with Belltech struts set at 2” drop for a total of 4”. So apparently I am now at a a 4/7.25.

I am trying to figure out how to get the front just a little lower without running into rubbing issues.

Truck looks awesome. How do you like the ride with the front struts?

Heys guys new to the group, sorry for the long post, I recently bought an 18’ Sierra 1500. Came with a belltech lowering kit on it which I believe is/was a 3/5 street performance kit. When I got the truck, everything was loose like the previous owner was afraid to overtighten things lol. As a professional mechanic I went over the truck myself and tightened everything new tires and alignment. While doing so found the front struts were blown. Talked to a friend who recommended the maxtrac adjustable struts. Installed them on the lowest setting and only got about 1-2 months before they were blown. I want to order complete new front coils and struts but don’t know which will be best route. I was told the belltech kit uses stock coils but is that true? Should I buy new oem strut/coil assemblies and swap the strut? Here is truck currently on 22” Denali wheels and tires

I have Belltech 25004 struts on my 2018. They do use the stock coils. They ride better than the factory Ranchos and have lasted 40k miles. Nice truck!

Thanks! I think going to buy complete new coil strut assemblies and just swap out the struts. I think whoever installed the lowering kit before I got the truck forgot parts or installed wrong. Or I’m now looking into the belltech coilovers.
