With 6 computers onboard the new Sierra the extended warranty covers you in case you need it. I got the 10yr 100K coverage $100 deduct wavied if the repair is performed at the dealership, its transferable for a $50 dollar fee. We had a Caddy ('01) and the extended warranty paid for its self several times over.

Depending on how it is optioned it will have a lot more than 6 modules (computers) better read the fine print most extended warranties don't cover much on the electrical side of things

Exactly! In the this day of technology, why bother with an extended warranty when it won't cover any of the modules. I know I won't do it!

I purchased the extended warrantee just for the peace of mind. 5 years, bumper to bumper or 100K miles. If you keep you vehicles for a while, it might be worth it.

Extended Warranties are a flip of the coin, if you needed it; it’s too late to get it. Doing your homework to make sure you have purchased what you need is the best you can do. My dealership promotes CNA which has all of the right 'boxes' checked. I’m just trying to protect my investment. Repairs can be extremely costly. As I said before, the dealership eats the deductible as long as I take it to them for the repair. This isn't a problem for me. The following link may assist in making an informed decision.

I just didn't want to take any chances with a first run vehicle with the price tag it came with. I did the same thing. You made a great call.

Is it still safe to say thought that the extended warranty shouldn't be bought until you are at almost 12k miles or 1 year, because you are realistically losing one year of the warranty? also maybe it shouldn't be bought til 36k miles/3 years since that's when the bumper to bumper is up???

Check with the dealership on that, usually the newer the cheaper the product, the longer you wait the more it will cost even though it is still under warranty. Remember, you are paying for future repairs at todays prices, if you wait, repair costs are also rising. Its a gamble, my '03 Silverado LS ext cab was not as complicated as this new '13 Sierra SLT, In ten years I was lucky and only paid for routine maintenance, nothing broke that wasn't cover under the initial warr. The '03s had steering shaft problems, mine was replaced 3 times. luckily under warr.

I put a 60 percent down payment and financed the rest via dealer, when they ran the numbers they had 4 payment options, all with extendeded warrenty included/different lengths etc... they actually make it tricky like you have to pick an option...its not until the bottom in small print you see the actual real payment for loan only...also if you add the 1000-2000 cost in your loan...remember your paying interest on your extended warranty cost as well...overall the payments are presented are a little shady...not sure if thats dealer specific or if thats a standard marketing ploy accross dealerships in general.

Got one for my pickup. 6 year 60k mile. I don't put many miles on my vehicles but wanted to make sure I was covered. Normally would not get a extended warranty but they pretty much gave it to me with no deductible.

Hey fly , how do you figure they pretty much gave it to you? Did they add a measly $30 extra to your monthly loan payment or something? Which for a 5 year loan is actually $1800 plus interest. Just interested in your thinking of how they pretty much gave it to you :)

Hello JC. Hard to explain but they lost a huge sale to me on my Camaro. Sales manager was gone and they had to wind up trading their car off to another dealer 3 months later. So what I did when getting this pickup came in with what I was willing to pay as in payment wise and said I wanted extended warranty. They had already agreed to deal and payment number so they gave me a little more for trade to off set cost of warranty.

 

I got almost what I paid for my 09 in trade, so to me the extended warranty cost me next to nothing. As in added after the deal was struck and payments did not go up any.

Thanks for the help guys. With what I paid, which seams to be the highest of everyone who`s posted here, I`m leaning more and more to cashing it back in. I was going back and forth when I bought the damn thing but the more I think about it, the more I regretting it.

I added it to this truck after the sale. Got a better price that way. Had power train only on my 2003 and I came out ahead by the time I sold it.

My dealer offers a free lifetime powertrain warranty on all new vehicles. No deductable, time or mile limit. Only thing they ask, is they do all the regular maintenance on the vehicle.

      I'm not sure if this should be a new topic, let me know if it's out of place. This my first post. Thanks 85077522 - AC Delco GM Genuine Parts Brake Master Cylinders. Anyone else had to replace this brake master cylinder yet. I didn't do any brake work, it looks like new parts and I've had the truck for about 4k miles, 119k total miles.  When it started to throw codes I did the calibrations with a bidirectional scanner and got the codes to clear but they came back so I did the routine; base bleed, automated bleed and final base bleed. All that with Bosch ES16-32N fluid (please look it up). That seemed to fix it but 100ish miles later it failed again so I ran the same process but with a pressure bleeder this time and got the same results, fixed for 100ish miles. The original fluid looked bad and I thought I got most of it out, it could've been the wrong fluid. The codes; P25A2, C05B0-00, C2A1B. I can get them to clear but not for long. The C05B0 indicates a leak in the front circuit (which is bone dry) so I'm thinking of doing the bleed process on that front again today and I don't know if that's taboo to just do the front but at this point it seems like it's worth the try anyway. The new master cylinder/module unit is supposed to get here today. But now I'm pretty much convinced this install is over my head. I've called several shops and some mobile guys that I know but this thing is like radio active material, scary wise. I did get 2 local shops say they should be able to do it, one says he has the SPS2 programing capability. And with the battery disconnected is there supposed to be pedal resistance, mine is to the floor, then if I pump it I can get some resistance. I had a panic stop prior to this issue which may have contributed from what I read. And on the first attempt to bleed and hydraulic test the scanner listed things to look for and one was any gaps between the pad and rotors which I did notice on the RF corner and I removed the outer pad (where the gap was) cleaned it and the hardware and didn't see a gap after that but will re-check it. I read that if pushing the caliper pistons back then you're supposed to open the bleeder so as to not push fluid backwards into the abs module or it will damage it. If that's true then that's also a possibility from the previous owner having the brakes changed before I got it. I'm using an XTool ip500 scanner. Any suggestions, questions and comments welcome.

      Next Friday will be my 6 week point from my right knee replacement.  The surgeon says it will be fine if I choose to drive after this checkup.  I know I could drive now but best to do as my surgeon (and my wife) tell me.  Richard compared being 62 to 72.  I remember when I was in my early 60's I was experiencing slow but regular decline in my mobility.  Thanks to good medical support,  i continued to fight the speed and spread of this decline. During my 60's I worked on non-surgical methods and just when I turned 70, my orthopedic surgeon recommended joint replacements.  In a little over a year, I had one shoulder and both knees replaced.  This hasn't been a terribly fun experience, but worth the discomfort as my future mobility health trajectory has reversed.  It is a treat to now be watching my mobility. balance and confidence steadily improve!
