anyone make their own intake tube and save a 100 bucks or so over the MIT? Ive seen people do it on other vehicles and other vehicle forums but not on the new silvers yet

I installed the Airaid MIT and am very happy with the quality, fit and appearance. It sounds nice when you get on it, but isn't noticeable during normal driving like my old K&N CAI on my GMT-800. I also like being able to retain the stock airbox and better filtering paper filter.

Running a S&B Filters Air Intake with the washable filter. I had other brands on past trucks, so far the quality of this one crushes all the others. I like the closed air box with the clear lid. Enjoying the added intake noise, and even increased the exhaust sound.

I put a kn kit on my 5.3 and with the 3rd cat gutted n straight pipe after, the exhaust actually seems alil louder during average accelerating, sounds cleaner also , almost like it breathes better. ..shocker

Installed the K&N kit from my 2014 5.3 onto my 2015 6.2, probably took less 10 minutes to switch it out.

When using the + cruise control button on the highway you can hear the intake 'bark', kind of funny.

For best results drive around in M2 or M3, you can really hear the engine howl when acceleration or deccelerating!

Installed the Airaid MIT on my 5.3 yesterday. Documented the install for the hell of it.

One thing I didn't do, but I think I might is remove the part on the stock airbox that is in between the airbox and the fender. To open it it up more.

My thought is that the current fender opening and air box supports 420 HP.

Are these annoying (loud) when towing?

My AFE Momentum is pretty loud, I don't know about the others but mine is.

I don't find it annoying at all but to others I can see it being to much.

In case anyone is interested, I got a great deal on a Volant CAI with a price match at AutoAnything. I noticed through a part number search for the Volant PowerCore (Dry Filter) Cold Air Intake 2014-2015 Chevy Silverado GMC Sierra (1500 Only 5.3 V8), part #155536, that NewLevelMotorsports.com has it listed for $289.87 with free shipping. AA has it on sale for 10% off at $369.89. I chatted with them and asked them if their price match policy included this item and gave them the web site information. After a few minutes, AA came back with $288.87, fee shipping and no taxes.

Since I have the Corsa Sport exhaust, I think this will complement it well...happy 4th of July!

Confused by your question Gunner...there are many CAI units to chose from for the 5.3L including Volant, Airaid, K&N, S&B. Did you read any of this 27 page thread? What kind of "news" are you looking for?

There is everything from noise opinions to pictures of installs and where to buy...
