Did you add them, or did you remove the OEM ones?[/quote

Both. I added em by removing my OEM's. Not sure what your asking.

I have not read through this whole thread but for those looking at Amp research, there is another company out there called Bestop Power Board http://www.bestoppowerboard.com/

Just throwing it out there - seems they might cost a bit less.

I just got amps put on and they are the shit. I don't know about the bestops but I can tell you the amp research boards are super nice. I'm so happy I just spent the extra money and don't have big running boards that kill the look of my truck or have to deal with all the dumb coatings peeling off and absurd warranty issues or rust from the other brands.

Nope, just have a slew of other issues to possibly deal with like reliability of them working all the time properly, inclement weather not breaking them, failing if they take a hit or offering zero added protection to the body. You talk about rust but then those have an electric motor out in the elements :wtf: Pros and cons to each.

Me, I will take something for over half the price less that will always work and allow me to clean my roof and windshield while giving added side protection (which ones I am not sure yet, still doing homework). Function > Aesthetics (not that actual physical steps can't look good though)

Glad you like them.

cheap out if you want if you're low buck man. To each their own. It looks to me like you're trying to convince yourself more than anything. I already bought em so I don't care what justification makes you sleep at night lol

Well I have to sort of agree with amx. These trucks already have enough electronic stuff so I'm happy with fixed N-fabs that also protect the rockers. I haven't heard of issues with AMPs not working in snow or mud, but my luck they stop working when really needed. I've banged my N-fabs on a concrete curb once and a parking spot curb (both was because I was being lazy and impatient) and no problem. I myself aren't trying to justify paying $400+ for N-fabs and not $1,000 on AMPs, I just prefer to not have auto drop down steps no matter how good it would be. Same goes for me not wanting the sliding rear window because I don't want another window motor assembly to have to deal with so I made sure to get the 1 piece rear glass. I'm also not going to pay $1,000+ on a premade exhaust kit when I can pay 1/3 to have one made exactly how I want it. I'm too picky and I can never find a premade exhaust kit exactly the way I want. Plus those kits have a tendency to leak since most people use the provided clamps instead of having it welded in. But hey, it's your money and my money is mine. Just sounds like you're the one wanting to justify paying a grand on power steps just so you can watch them go up and down and show them off. I'm a function over form type person unless I can also add form without taking away any function.

There's a difference between explaining and justifying. Just because I wrote more than your brain can handle doesn't mean I'm justifying. It's good that you like your amp steps, I could care less what you do with your money. But, you made it seem like he didn't buy amp steps because he's cheaping out which isn't the case for him or me. Not everybody likes the same things you do. Have fun watching the steps go up and down, I guess it only takes simple things to get your brain excited. Have fun

Yeah real glad someone mature like yourself showed up to stand up for the poor little guy. Good for you man. Yeah I like my steps, so what??? No worries for whatever reason let's call it for getting one type or another. I don't care they're bought and on the truck and I'm happy with them. I don't give a shit about why these or those or whatever ones are better, I did my research and made my decision. I also don't care whether or not you can afford them, you're money or lack there of is not my problem.

My main point is the part of the comment saying he cheaped out, which means you're trying to say he wanted AMP steps but couldn't afford them. Which means you're saying the same thing about me and others that don't have AMPs which is why I replied. Also that last comment where you said "or lack there of" means you're trying to say I can't afford AMPs. I guess in that case you're lack of money means you couldn't afford a lift bigger than little 4", or that you didn't get an HD. I guess you cheaped out on the lift size and truck then, especially since you didn't step up to at least a Denali. Only using the same thinking you're using. Get off your little high horse you seem to be on, your shit stinks too.

    • So you're saying toss the baby out with the bathwater? @txab posted article was her take on how AI can be used to manipulate pricing as it already does and has been rebuked by the judiciasry in housing. How AI can be and is used to maximize refinery or even Amazon operations all of which are true but because she is who she is; that makes what she says about what is true, false? Is that something akin to Pre-justice aka prejudice?    Look, I'm first in line to approach all information with caution just because we live in a world where people like to lie about someone or something with such a straight face and in such volume that it makes digging to the truth wearisome. Meaning I understand the skepticisms but if I were to toss out everything a person is for a view they hold then my pool of people to draw wisdom from would be non-existent and I'd be forced to reinvent the wheel daily. Not practical.    "Be innocent as a dove but as cautious as a serpent."    Test each word. Every good lie is part truth or no one would believe it. Find the truth in it and reject what isn't.    On this one, AI is being used to do what has been done by hand for hundreds of years already but at such speed, the point of a computer, that it is more easily monetized. This one wasn't that hard a lift.    I wrote a few formulas in a Lotus 123 program decades ago, a series of linked Macros actually, that allowed a daily inventory to be turned into a running P&L and production plan. Something that took three departments a week to assemble now took the time it takes to input the 'daily changes' in inventory. Later that was ungraded to the more powerful Excel program an and integrated with bar code scanning, inventory to supply was done once per shift. It had a huge impact on production scheduling, Seamless interruption flexibility, inventory error reduction, raw materials cost effective utilization and scrap reduction. Huge improvement in the bottom line. I spent months on that and AI could have done it in minutes. So yes, it not only can be used, they would be foolish to not try. The legality, ethics and morality are not the domain of AI. Humans need to keep a reign on it.
    • New to this forum.  Also looking to tune a 6L80 and trying to work out all the issues in my transmission swap.  I have a 6.2 diesel (1983) and have removed the TH-400 and about to put in a 6L80 with a TCM-2600 interface and don't have a clue what I doing after that.  Did you (Leatherneck/RAV3) get your slip resolved? I too hate to spend that kind of money on a tuner that hopefully I will not need too many times although from what steelerdude15 added about the HP Tuner being great for diagnostics would be a plus.  I am also from WNC but below you in Columbus.  Any helo would be greatly appreciated.
