It (The arm rest) does come with the console assembly. I don't think anyone has reported otherwise. I bought mine from gmpartsdirect.com and it did.

Yes I was pleasantly surprised I didn't need to order that expensive part separately. Believe it was the console assembly, 2 trim pieces (L and R), front bracket and top "plate" as folks have called it, which includes cup holders, and you need to get the trim right on the plate so it matches your truck. I used GM parts direct and was very happy with their service. I wanted to make sure the console I was ordering had the white stitching and the rep went back to the warehouse, took pics of the one I was about to order, and emailed them to me. Received it all in a couple days.

Thanks !! guy's was getting worried. I ordered mine from GM parts direct also but the illustration does not show the armrest, then they have a separate listing for it had me worried. good to hear just waiting on my order now, also sent payment for the sub-box that fits inside the console !!!!

Don't know if this has been attempted yet or not but my ultimate plan is to remove the jump seat and have it installed in the rear. I will have to modify (split) the rear seat to get this done. but driving around without rear seat is not a problem (unless the grandbaby stops in) !! So if any one has any experience with this mod please let me know !! I may just start another thread for this??

can't get a hold of anyone at GM parts direct ??? It showing some of the parts does not fit my truck ??? Maybe it's because the part number has changed. Called (GM parts-online) and spoke with a real parts guy and verified they were in stock !! going to give parts direct until the morning to respond then I will cancel my order !!! GM direct has free shipping which makes the deal a little better.

Nice 51 stovebolt! I placed my order for the parts on Monday and they should be shipping any day now. I order the $14 cable to try and get power & data through the front USB ports when I do he install. Can't wait to convert my truck over. I work out of my truck and the cab is my mobile office. It will be great to have a place to store my iPad, notebook, and other work stuff besides the passenger seat. Any please document your install and snap some pics. What year model is your truck?

Console came in todayattachicon.gifIMG_1607.JPG

Sir

I would very much like to see some pictures and or your comments on getting the electrical and data ports to work. I am looking hard at doing this but I want to be sure that I will still have all my USB ports, 110V plug, AUX jack and power port in back working when finished.

Also would you be able and willing to post a list of the different part numbers you used to build your console at your convenience? I would be interested to know your total cost for the project if I may be so bold as to ask. You built exactly what I want. As you seem to be the most recent person to do this project I figure your data will be the best.

Any info you share would be of great help. Thank you in advance.

I also ordered the cable, I hope reading back through the thread will be my guide!! I also want the usb's and such to work. I'm so particular about the data part of the usb's as long as they get power to charge. I can Bluetooth everything else. when my wife is in the truck as a passenger and needs the charger it automatically picks up her phone and goes through radio. I disabled this function in the car and sure I can in the truck?

On another note the new console has a card slot, my other one did not. it also has a light in the storage area !! I'll keep ya posted, waiting on the custom sub box to arrive now.

Same here 51 stovebolt. I should be receiving shipping confirmation tomorrow or Tuesday. I'm already digging back through this thread and making some notes. I hope to start the install next weekend and will document my process and snap some pictures.

    • Common Sense Assembly   Your driveline is forgiving of the occasional mistake. It will even often forgive the random serious blunder. But it will not forgive a continuous bad habit.      What? Not everything needs to be a five thousand word essay.
    • We drove about 15 minute east today to visit a friend and saw a steep increase in price in the same county. About 50 cents a gallon steepper.
    • Sure about that? A degree wheel and a dial indicator would lower your degree of assurance in that statement. 😉    It why we have offset keys and dialable timing sprockets. Just say'n.... I've built a few and have never seen one "On the money".
    • I will admit I haven't experimented much with pressure drops beyond the numbers I put in and part of that is that the numbers I used are fairly low and then found out it would trigger regardless at that 35 psi. Having said that I had tried before had changed the placard pressures and being that I have a 1 ton set to 80 on the placard for the rear I believe it triggered close to 60, the front I don't recall now for sure but thought maybe it could get close to 45 from that factory 60 placard pressure. So I never did figure out if it was a number of psi from placard pressure to the alarm or a percentage of the total placard number as some figured it was like a 25% drop from placard pressure would trigger it. So as to try and answer your question, I believe I set the placard pressure on the front to 47 or so and while I run the front tires at 40, they have dipped below that some if its colder and I haven't put "winter air" in yet and never once have had the front alarm go off. I would say that the answer your looking for is no, that if you set your placard pressure to 45, you have a certain amount of room to drop below that pressure before the alarm will go off.    The pressures you decide to run in your truck, that ends up being what makes sense to you based on what your carrying in your truck or if towing, then have to bump them back up to something that will carry the load in the rear and the fronts typically left at the same pressure. It all comes down to that chart I put the link to and using an accurate roadside scale to be your guide, both unloaded and then loaded to know your minimum safe pressures.    I just wish GM would allow a person to change the readings for the tire pressures to the English system of pounds as I have to look at that goofy metric reading that will never ever jive in my head and will go over and change it just to figure out what they are if need be and then change it back.
    • That part I understand, that the dealer can do it. But I'm not understanding why updates that were available to the truck since it left the factory, or the dealership originally, would not still be available to it without dealer intervention.   I'm thinking along the lines of recalls. They stay available until they are completed, regardless of whether they are in warranty or not, or in the hands of the original owner or not. Why not updates as well, especially since some of those can be safety related also?
