"Service Trailer brake" Warning in DIC

New 2015 2500 Duramax, just over 1k miles. Service Trailer Brake and Stabilitrack came up on my first trailer haul, a 33ft trailer through the hill country no less. Turning on and off the truck does not reset the issue, I have to actually clear the DTCs. Of which include C1113, C1114 and U0415. They may not come back for hours, or they may come back in minutes. I have a level kit and air suspension both installed by my dealer, and some mildly oversized BFG KO2 tires installed by Discount Tires. Doing a bit of research but probably taking in for service. This thread looks pretty close to what I've been seeing but given I have to actually clear DTCs to get the trailer brake system working again I don't think it could just be a bad connection at the pins. Hauled this trailer regularly with my last truck with no issue just prior to upgrading.

I just bought a 2014 GMC Sierra over the weekend and I am having the same issue, I checked the plug and there was no moisture or dirt. I am in Florida and we have had alot of rain over the weekend. Thankfully I bought a GM certified truck and it comes with a 1 year 12k bumper to bumper warranty, ill be dropping it off at the dealer on Friday. Ill update on what they say.

My dealer ran the DTC codes I found (C1113, C1114, U0415) and said they didn't have any bullitens for known issues. Also suggested the whole water or loose connection thing and to take it in. Considering there hasn't been water in a while I'm going to assume its got a loose connection somewhere. I'll try some dielectric grease at the trailer pins first, I hate dropping my trucks off at service shops. Maybe a quick glance over the wiring harnesses between the hitch and the rest of the system as well.

The dealer said it was the plug, luckily they will warranty it under the 12 month 12k bumper to bumper for the certified used warranty. Ill be curious to see if that actually solves the problem. I hate dropping my truck off anywhere and having someone else work on it but I figured I dont want to waste the warranty in case it is something expensive.

I had this same message. It was a 30A Jcase fuse (for Stud 2) that had blown. As far as I know everyting else was working fine - just getting the trailer brake message.
Probably happened the day we were trying to see if the new winch worked w/o actually hooking it up since we hadn't neatly routed the wires yet - just touching the leads to grounds & hots making sparks. I guess with all the computers in them these days I'm lucky it was only a fuse I blew.

Had this happen to me today with no trailer, just can't stop having electrical issues with these damn trucks

had it happen again today and adjusted the gain to .05 then back to .00 twice and it went away, taking it in tomorrow to see if they can figure it out.

I had this happen not too long after I purchased my truck. I removed the fuse for the trailer brake for a few seconds, haven't seen the message since.

I've had it happen over last winter, driving in a snowstorm, with slushy road conditions. It would only flash for just a second, so it took a couple, before I could actually catch what it said. I let the service department know, and this was also close to the time I was experiencing both headlights (Vosla), both licence plate lights, and the upper right rear turn signal bulb failures. They checked it out, put some dielectric grease in the connectors, and no problems since. Fingers crossed.

It's in the fuse box under the hood, I don't recall which one, but it should be listed on the fuse cover.

oh okay I was thinking it was something towards rear or inside truck. I actually took some windex on a paper towel and cleaned all the connectors by license plates last night. they were actually filled with dirty and such.

 

Have not had the indicator go on since. Not sure if it was due to the dirt collection on the connectors or not?

 

does that sound like it could have caused sensor to go off?

I wouldn't think so, but never really know. If it works that's a plus, if not, try pulling/re-seating the fuse.

yeah it went away for a couple days came back last night on way home every few moments going off...by time I pulled into my garage it was going off constantly. Wiped everything back down nothing...looked under rear bumper found what appears to be module I am assuming controls this system.

 

very dirty kind of dirty but did not want to tear anything apart that I don't know about. Planning to take it into dealership tonight.

 

I did get it to stop going off for time being...I played around with the brake control and gain control. It has not come on since last night..im sure it will later today.
