locking tailgate

What do I need to buy for my tailgate to lock and unlock automatically with my truck? How hard is it to install?

Easy peasy to do .... look at the links moto posted along with his right up. It will take about 30-40mins to install. Either use a real solder/splice on the wiring or use positap connectors the vampire splices that are supplied with the kit are not the greatest and really chew up the wiring.

I see you mention the posi-tap connectors, any idea what gauge? My Amp steps used the same connectors, can't for the life of me remember what gauge they were.

Mzodarg,

I would say the wires were a 20 gauge and a 18 gauge wire. I did use the vampire splice and will probably have to replace it over time that is why I was recommending the positaps. If you use the 18-24 gauge taps you should be fine.

Great, that's what I thought after installing the AMP steps, I remember they were a fairly thin wire.

Thanks,

If you have any positaps left over from that install they will work just fine.

Unfortunately the AMP steps only came with 4 and I needed all 4. I'll get some off amazon, local auto parts stores don't carry them.
