Double cab and car seats

If your son is that old in a booster a double cab is fine. Save some money. My son is 2.5 years old and we are moving him to a harnessed booster and he will have much more room. Enjoy your new truck!

Back in the day 70s and 80s we had 2 door or 4 door cars. Four doors where for old people, trucks where for work ( yea I know ) Try putting the rug rats in two door cars. Trucks are a breeze.

Wow, booster at 2.5 years? I'm surprised by such lax child safety laws. In Texas your kid has to be 4 years AND 40+ pounds to be in a booster seat. Rear facing until 2 years old. And can't leave the booster until 8 years or 4'9".

Yup, you'd get a ticket, possibly pay some fines for having a 2.5 year old in a booster here. Probably make the news for Child Abuse too.

We put my son in one at 3 because of his height and he met the weight requirements. Here in indiana they have to ride in one until 8 yrs old (can't be in front seat either)

Rear facing is 1 yr here. He couldn't go past that he was to darn tall his legs would hit the back window. He is in the 100 th percentile for height. Hopefully the docs are right and he will be 6ft8-6ft9 :)

Wow, I'm 6' even, but the wife is 5'1", 105 lbs soaking wet. My twins are in the 10-15th percentile, but my youngest right around average. Maybe he'll be my height? I don't mind keeping them in the car seats for longer as they're much safer. The only issue is the creases they put in the leather. Grrr.

I would take the car seats you plan on using and set them up during a test drive in a double cab and CC. I am not impressed with the new doors on the double cab at all. They are small. Back at Christmas I was helping my mom move some presents to my house. She had 3 rectangle cloths baskets full. I had to squeeze and push the baskets in just to get them in the back seat area. They sides of the door opening got scuffed up from that. I told her if they still had the old suicide doors that would never had been a problem. Oh Well.

Exactly why my daughter hasn't ridden in my camaro yet. Learned with my sons car seat. The creases came out after a few months

My biggest gripe with the double cabs is how awkward they look with the outside door handle...if they would do the doors like Toyota does and color match with a handle at the back of the door it would look better. I had an extended cab on my 07 that swung all the way back to the bedside and was really convenient other than in tight parking spots.

I have the double cab and like it much better than the extended cab "suicide doors" on my 2011 Silverado. While the doors are smaller than crew cab doors, I can open them wider than I could with the suicide doors in tight places (like my garage). I don't have any young ones (son is grown and no grand kids yet), but my 84 year old parents frequently ride with us. They both tell me it is easier for them to get in and out of the double cab and much more comfortable than the extended cab. Would it be roomier as a crew cab? Of course. But most of the time I am by myself or with the Mrs. And I do like being able to fit it in the garage with the longer bed (crew cab regular bed would not fit, so I would have to have a crew cab short bed). All said, I really like what I have...just tryin' to give another perspective.

Just goes to show that it all depends on how you use the truck.

I went from a 2011 extended cab, to a 2012 crew cab, to a 2014 double cab... and my boys have been growing the whole time... 15 year old, 13 year old, and 12 year old. The back seat of the double cab isn't as big as the 2012 crew cab was, but definately bigger than the 2011 extended cab ever was.

My boys haven't complained about the back seat on the double cab at all, we all like the new truck (except my mrs doesn't like the 4" steps, she prefers the 6" I had on the 2012 crew)

CC has more space then double cab for sure. I have kids and its a lot easier with the crew cab. Way more room than the old body style.

Went from a 2007 extended cab to a 2014 Crew Cab and it is far and away better for hauling the kids and dog. No more reaching out to plop the 3 yr old in the middle. Both kids now have way more room and are much easier to get in and out daily. Now if I can keep them from smearing up the windows with their Fruit snack fingers all will be good. Great family vehicle!

The room in a double cab is no comparison to a crew cab. Get the crew or you'll regret it down the road. I regretted my 08 extended cab everytime someone sat in the back seat. Now my 14 crew cab has TONS of room.
