What are you towing with your 2014?

I've got some decisions to make. 2014, 5.3, 3.42. In the past, I've pulled 24 foot enclosed race trailers, no problems at all. Crosswinds aren't fun... but other than that, no issues. Of course I use a WD hitch.

I am considering buying a 28' race trailer w/living quarters... empty weight about 6,000, and I'll probably be about 8500k loaded. My concern is this: the trailer is 7'4" tall inside... from road to top, it is 9' 8" tall.

I do need the extra height for what I'm towing... but I'm pretty worried about the wind resistance with this tall of a trailer and the 5.3l. Any experience?

JJ try it, but how often do u tow, if its not a lot I'd run yours, if u tow a lot I'd consider stepping it up, like u said it will be more about the wind resistance then weight

In comparison to how many non-towing miles I drive each year, it's a very small amount. When I do though, it's significant trips.

2014 Coleman 244bhs.

Last scale ticket put the truck at 7240lbs (40lbs over gvw) and trailer at 6560lbs. So the trailer is about 7400ish lbs.

Truck sits about 3/8" higher in the rear with the hitch now dialed in well.

You should be ok. Many tow more weight and taller loads (travel trailers). See guy before me picture.

I don't want to get in a debate about wd hitches and how to set them up and what not however, I am almost certain (as I do not have a TT) that once the wd hitch is set up the rear of the truck should not be higher loaded than unloaded. in a heavy brake situation it could cause your truck to jack knife. with the wd hitch set up correctly you should be about 1" lower loaded than unloaded.

No debate required yourarecorrect. My post is Just a typo. ..should read that the rear sits about 3/8" higher in the rear than the front. As in no sag as compared to the front.

Scale ticket shows about 20 to 40kg more weight on front that when unloaded which means it's set up properly. If the front is less than when unloaded or higher measurement than the hitch is taking too much weight off the front tires.

I couldn't imagine the size or wd bars, and gronk to lift them, needed to get the truck higher than unloaded with an extra 1000 plus truck weight on them haha

That there looks like work. My truck doesn't do work..... At least not yet. The hardest thing I currently want my truck doing is hauling my trailer for a vacation.
