26ft proline that's older than me haha

Handles the boat well? 5.3 or 6.2?

I'm looking at buying a wake boat in the future and don't really wanna have to buy a different truck.

I pulled that 26ft proline from Destin to NOLA without a single issue or anything. Truck pulled like a champ and I hardly knew the boat was back there. I'm running a 5.3 w/ 3.42s. You should be fine

3 slides, bunkhouse. About 10,500 loaded. I'll get a weight ticket tomorrow.

Finally got to tow my trailer up to my favorite campground. The elevation gain from home to the site was almost 5500 feet. Trailer is a 21 foot Wildwood that weights 5000+. My gas mileage was terrible, but when considering the conditions of the elevation and weight 9.9 isn't too bad. The new truck did a great job. It was frustrating to keep it at 50 mph. the whole way up. It felt like the truck was telling me to let it loose, like a race horse being held back by the trainer. The hill descend braking is such a cool option. It was raining while on my way up. The last 1/2 mile into the campground is a steep narrow road. The rain made it very slick. I was smart enough to put it into 4WD at the turn off. I would have never been able to get up there without the 4WD.

Backed it into the site just as easy as could be. The turning radius and ease that it maneuvered made it a cakewalk. My friend showed up the next day. She was surprised that I backed it down the long driveway into the host site without any help. She lets her hubby pull their 5th wheel. I don't think that she has ever pulled it by herself. I will be back up there in a few days. I am helping out with the hosting this season with the campground.

Discovered that I will need tow mirrors after all. The driver side is great, but I can't see far enough back in a freeway situation to safely change lanes on the right side.

I agree, still trying to find that spot on the passenger side when towing boat, driver side is awesome, wish they would have put a convex mirrow on passenger side as well

Nice trailer! But dang, you gotta be running at max payload.

Pulled one of our resort's track rigs home a few weeks ago. My truck spends more time towing boats and trailers then driving empty! I love the way it pulls, much better than my truck in the previous body style.

I didn't even have my truck a full month in this picture. The resort is on an island, this was the last trip I made across the ice before it all melted. Definitely a pucker moment driving my new truck through almost a foot of ice cold lake water with a trailer behind me!

I was at the lake yesterday and saw a 2014 GMC Sierra AT in Iridium metallic exactly like mine pulling a matching Malibu wakesetter 247 LSV. I wish I would've snapped a pic, looked like a wicked set up. We were both on the boat ramp at the same time, I should've asked him if he had a 5.3 or the 6.2.

I tow whatever gets hooked to the ball. I usually drag my trailer on average three weekends a month. Then leading into, during, and out of hunting season I drag it everyweekend from late Sept to early Feb. If I can fit in on their I haul it from deer stands and duck blinds to enough wood to rebuild the arbor over my deck. I don't know why or how I waited so long to buy a trailer. Seems like I am always using it. Then some days I don't I wish I would have wnet and got it because it would have been easier.

Usually its my 70ch big tex and what ever gets strapped to it.

Yes the white 14 was mine as well. I bought it in April and sold it in December because I'm a dummy. It had 20000 trouble free miles and was a nice truck. But it was a 5.3 with 3.42's. I traded in a 12 max tow with 6.2 and 3.73 and in my head or not I wasn't happy with the white truck and the way it towed so I let my dealer run me through the ringer on another 14 with the 6.2 and 3.42s.

Then theres my boat for family time on the lake. I hope to have it back together for next boating season because its been dry docked for the '14 and '15 season. This is what its supposed to like like.

Not mine I rented this for a weekend but I am hoping to add one to the rotation of things I tow next year.

Inside was mine and my buddies atv we went and spent the weekend at the ORV park riding it was a great weeekend.

So needless to say this truck gets plenty of pulling time.

Haha, yes it does. Its a 4.8l with a 76mm turbo and a TH400 on E85. Just getting it together but the best so far is 6.04@117mph in the 1/8th.

Here is a better pic of the motor/turbo setup. The downpipe is temporary until I put the bigger turbo on.

    • I’m definitely interested to hear the end result here.
    • My 2025 Silverado 1500 had to receive a brand-new engine (long block) under warranty last month at only around 16,500 miles. Before the replacement, the truck repeatedly displayed "Engine Oil Level Low" warnings, even though the Oil Life Monitor still showed around 50% remaining after about 6,000 miles since my last oil change. After seeing the warning several times, I checked the dipstick with the engine cold, and the oil level was completely normal. The next day, the message escalated to "Add Engine Oil." At first, I assumed it was just a faulty oil level sensor, so I brought the truck to the dealership. After inspecting the engine, they found internal cylinder wall scoring and ultimately replaced the entire long block under warranty. Before this happened, I was planning to install a 4-inch lift and suspension upgrade on my truck. After needing a new engine at just 16,500 miles, I honestly don't see the point anymore. I also contacted GM to ask whether my vehicle qualified for a buyback, but I was informed that it does not at this time. Anyway, this experience has left me with serious concerns about the long-term reliability of this engine. I sincerely hope NHTSA expands the current investigation or recall to include 2025 model and performs a thorough inspection of affected vehicles. My biggest concern is that these engines may fail shortly after the powertrain warranty expires. If GM truly stands behind this engine, then at the very least, please consider extending the powertrain warranty to 10 years for affected owners. That would go a long way toward restoring customer confidence.
    • Without exception but then I'm the odd duck, right? I know what goes into that test, how it is calculated and thus how to beat it. But EPA values are often not beaten by the general public and the government has in past years adjusted the means and methods to come to those values to more closely approximate "Joe Average".    The only real trick to beating that EPA average is don't drive like "Joe Average".    It's the same method you used to profit from "Economic Migration" and in doing so beat the 'stats'. But you, like me, are not "Joe Average".     The thing you don't seem to grasp is this "Purchasing Power Index" isn't forward looking. It doesn't predict what it going to be but looks backward and states what it was. They are not telling us what the THINK, they are telling us what they MEASURED. Example:    Wife says "I'm going to lose 40 pounds by Christmas". May she does, maybe she doesn't but the doctors office who weighed her when she made that statement and again at Christmas only REPORTS what the RESULT was. You and I can banter about what was possible and what aunt Tilly did till the cows come home but the result is the result. Arguing otherwise is.....irrational. That's all I'm saying. This isn't about:      What you are calling a 'Statistic' is a RESULT not a CALCUATION and as a result the RULE. Like gravity as a rule, it can not be broken.
    • Just wanted to say thank you for posting this. Years later, your thread is still helping Silverado owners.   I bought my 2025 Silverado 1500 in January 2025, and I've had what feels like the exact same rattle since day one. After reading your findings, I believe my truck has the same issue with the cable carrier contacting the rear sliding window. To be honest, I had pretty much given up on pursuing the issue. It wasn't until I recently drove another brand's pickup that I realized just how quiet their cabin was—and how noisy mine has been all along. On my truck, the rattle happens on almost any paved road, gets even worse on rougher pavement, and I can even hear it during braking and acceleration.   I actually referenced your thread when submitting my case to GM, hoping they'll recognize this as a recurring issue instead of treating it as an isolated incident. The reason I reached out to GM first is because my dealership told me they would need to keep the truck for at least two days just to diagnose the problem. I was concerned that even after two days, they still might not be able to identify the source of the rattle before giving the truck back to me. I had also asked a few dealerships about this issue during previous service visits, but none of them seemed to know what was causing it or had a solution. That's why I decided to contact GM directly first, hoping they might already have an official repair procedure or guidance for this issue.   I also hope GM eventually comes up with an official fix for this problem. I have a feeling there are many Silverado owners experiencing the same rattle, but most either choose to live with it or simply don't know what the cause is.   Really appreciate you taking the time to document your diagnosis. Your post is still making a difference years later.
