Are you guys with the AT and 20in wheels finding it hard to keep these wheels from being rashed/dinged up? I'm careful as hell and still managed to clip a few curbs.. which will tear these wheels apart. They stick out a hair from the tire it seems... so if you hit the tire on the curb.. you are likely going to ding up the wheel. I was able to lightly sand out / buff a small curb rash the other day. However, I had another I had to get professional done.. it was bad ( and that one was really my own stupid fault)

 

I was thinking of getting a slightly larger/wider tire... 285/55/20 .. they are about 4 in wider so I think that would help?

I have 285 Terra Grapplers on mine and have no problems with curb rash, but I have only let my wife drive the truck once. :-)

Just looked over my rims the other day and they still look like new.

 

One thing I liked about the Goodyear Duratracs on my last truck was the rim protector. Almost like it sinks the rim further into the tire so there is more tire sidewall around the rim. Don't see this on the Wrangler SRA the truck came with.

Nope, got rid of the stock tires and went with Nitto Terra Grapplers that have rim protection. I did see a little nick on one of the edges the other day, prob from the small boulders the city puts down during our snow storms here in OKC.

Just get a tire that has a rim protector built in. Couple tires that I know for sure has it is the BFG A/T ko, Nitto Terra Grapplers. Its molded into the tire and the wheel sits back inside of it. Nice feature.

 

I haven't noticed any curbing on my wheels yet. I am really careful driving it. But I haven't washed it in a while so they are covered with salt.

 

and also, 285/55r20 tires are NOT 4" wider than the stock tires. they are only 10mm wider which is only 0.394" wider.

I took my rims off for the winter and put cheap 17 inch rims and good winter tires. Just put the original rim and tires back on and they look bright and shiny, thanks to you I will be extra careful now not to curb anything.. Might look into the Nitto Terra Grapplers, they look sweet..

I did the same thing with crappy 17in snows....You are a bit early taking them off - arent ya LOL.

I have Nitto Trail Grapplers M/T that are 295/55R20 on mine. They seem to protect the wheels, as I have no nicks after 9,000 miles. I have my son driving with temps though... not sure how long it will stay nick free.

I would avoid cooper zeons. I put them on mine for a week. Destroyed the drivability! Took them off went back to the Goodyear ls-2's. Seriously drove like crap and lost 3mpg's

      I am sorry if this was misleading. That was a document attached to our most recent work order number (Doc# 7105804) that summarized all the current updates. These programs were ‘redone’ in the past but these versions dated 4/1/2016 were the ones that actually made all of the problems disappear. These programs were relayed to the dealer from the technical services group at GM. Here is the exact wording on the last work order:   “Front view camera reprogramming with SPS. A new version of FCM software was released to the service dept. In addition to providing general robustness and stability enhancements, this update includes all enhancements from previous software version releases. SPS camera and calibrate camera. OLH to perform extended camera relearn procedure after camera calibration. Would not take with first GDS learn. Front camera SPS – BDYZ333157450 GDS2 – camera road calibration performed 2810835 Front view camera reprogramming with SPS LT 0.6 OLH – extended camera relearn procedure OLH LT 1.5”   I got the truck back on 4/8 – since that time it has been great no problems whatsoever. The lane keep assist, active cruise control and AEB all work very well around town and at highway speeds up to 80mph. During this time I had been away for a week and purposely let the battery sit without a batter tender. Even with the battery a bit lower there were no problems exhibited. I really think this one has it fixed after dealing with these issues over a couple of years. These new programs and relearn process when completed seem to make all the parts (and newer replacement parts) ‘talk’ to each other without any glitches. Hope this helps

      I turned 72 today. My day began with a trip to the pharmacy to pickup meds for me and the dog and then a stop at my chiropractor before heading home. Once home I started the job of replacing the rear brake pads and one rotor on our 2018 Silverado which will probably end up taking me 3 days to finish, gotta pace myself you know. Sometimes I question myself on why I still do most of my own repairs but if I wasn't then it's more than likely I would be sitting in front of the TV all day. It seems like the list of things I need to do gets longer no matter what I accomplish. I'm not complaining but being retired was so much easier when I was 62.   Peace

      google "bathub failure curve". Basically, any part of the vehicle can fail at any time.  It starts off as being more likely (early failure), then the failure rate goes down (but does not go to zero), then it goes up over time because it wears/ages out.

      I went from every other day to about once in five since the rain abated. I'm not unhappy about that. Took most of the month for the ditches to dry enough to mow.
