GMT-900 Paint - Is It Really This Bad?

I know this has been discussed here before, but I would like to hear from other owners to see if what I'm seeing is 'normal' for these trucks. My 2011 Silverado has 77,000km (48K miles), I take great care in the appearance of my truck, no dings, scratches etc, still looks new when washed. I feel the amount of paint chipping/flaking/rusting in this short amount of time is completely ridiculous. I'm attaching some pictures of the worst spots, this doesn't include the endless amount of chips on the bumper, behind the tires, and along the door bottoms.

I don't have mudflaps but I don't drive on gravel roads either. I realize winter and road salt is hard on vehicles but I've taken reasonable measures to protect against these things. At this point I'm sure I'm SOL with GM as far as warranty goes since there is no 'rust through'. Based on what I see I do not expect this truck to last 8-10 years like I hoped.

I have some hood chips and a few here and there on the bedside or doors. I wouldnt say overly accessive as my GMT800 was about the same. I do have mudflaps and the 6" GM nerf bars which helps keep alot of junk from flying up and hitting the truck

No problems w/ mine (that I've noticed). I do have the 3" GM step bars, so that protects the rockers. I'm in an odd situation, I think, since my '08 paint is holding better than my '99 did... which is opposite of what most folks say. My '99 looked good, but the clear was starting to get milky in spots.

My white 2009 had the rust in behind the tail lights like yours does just not as bad, but I only had around 20k miles on it when I noticed it too.

Paint on most modern vehicles is crap unfortunately. I had a friend spray my rockers with bedliner about two years ago and it seems to be holding up well.

I'm having this done as well.....

No issues at all on my '13. It has one of the best OEM paint jobs I have seen.I take the taillights out and flush every couple of months so that will not happen to mine.

Try this stuff if you end up doing it yourself. http://www.kbs-coatings.com/RustSeal.html

Painted the frame of my semi a few years ago with it, while it is due to be done again this year, it has worked better than anything else I have seen.

If you catch a day where the humidity is normal, you can brush it on & it self levels. Meaning, you will not see the brush marks.

So do you guys think I should be going to the dealer and complaining or are they just going to tell me to go fly a kite?

GM and every other brand only covers rust where it has caused a hole. They're not obligated to do anything here.

I would clean and touch up your frame with GM 12346501. I had a couple of small spots that needed attention, and that stuff is a great match to the original frame coating.

I use heavy duty tractor paint on my frame wheel wells and rockers it's holding up nicely
