King Coilover Shocks Installed

Hi new to the forum and pulling up this old thread. I have the king coilovers yet to install and waiting to buy the upper control arm. Can anyone provide feedback to their shocks after running them for a while and has anyone tried to crank them down to get more lift or added 1" lower shock spacers and diff drop brackets. I understand the ride or angles will be compromised, but I'm looking for some feedback on your shock and the upper control arm that was used. Also I'm debating on Ball joint verses Uniball. Any feedback would be welcomed.

I need to do a thorough check of the system this summer, just to ensure somethings not going unnoticed. But I don't have any obvious problems at 37,000 miles. I'm guessing 25000 with these shocks and UCAs .

 

Bumping this up as I am in the market for a mild lift. How has the suspension been holding up? Any issues with premature wear of the factory front end components? @spurshot

Got my coilovers installed yesterday. Got around 2 inches of lift in the front and was told could get around an inch more if I want. We also did Camburg UCA's but had to take them off because they wont work with the factory wheels. Now I am wheel/tire shopping. Mine are for sale if anyone is interested. How do they ride with stock control arms? Do you still get that bottoming out in the front or did it go away?

I used to recommend the Cognito UCAs but not any more. Yes, the quality of the welds, fit, and finish is all good but they didn't even cycle the arms let alone do much real world testing (see photo below).

 

For anyone considering purchasing new UCAs, do yourself a favor and get a set built by a company who actually tests their products properly such as Camburg, Icon, Total Chaos, BajaKits, Mazzulla etc.

Damn son, were you catching air that is one compressed suspension to do that. Or did this happen just driving over something large? I have always heard high praise on cognito because they did properly change the angles etc.

Thats messed up. I was planning on getting the cognitos because they have replaceable ball joints and supposedly clear factory wheel offsets. I wonder if spurshot is having this problem with his king/cognito combo.

No air with that setup

 

Just hit a decent size rut while driving around the AZ desert!

 

At first, I assumed something else had failed but I removed the coilovers and cycled the arms and they contact the shock buckets.

 

If you're not planning on leaving the pavement, they'll be just fine..

 

Hey but I'm glad it all happened, it inspired me to make some serious suspension changes!

I'm going with Cognito. I read elsewhere on here that the issue with contacting the UCA mount is due to the Fox spring rate/valving. I'm on Kings so next month I'll be getting the Cognito UCA.

the OG poster: thearizonapatriot has the FOX 2.0's with Cognito upper control arms and had contact. Another member: spurshot in the same thread is running King 2.5 & also had rubbing with the Cognito upper control arms.

I make a little extension of the rear brake line bracket on the left rear side of the frame to move the bracket away from the shock reservoir.

 

 

This issue kept me from doing my install tonight. Had to put everything back together with the Ranchos.

Can you explain what you did? King says "just tweak the bracket by hand" - BS. There's no way it's fitting without a more significant modification than a "hand tweak".

It's been a couple years, but I think it was a flat plate a couple inches to move it. It's raining and dark out. I'm not crawling under it today.
