Outside Air Temperature Reading

Anyone have any problems with the accuracy of the outside air temperature that displays in the left upper corner of the mylink dash display. Mine seems to be real slow to adjust itself to actual temperature, even when there is a drastic change in temperature, like from heated garage(60) to outside air temperature of 40. Takes like 15 minutes to adjust, same thing happens when starting up vehicle, it takes a lot of time to adjust to actual temperature. Does anyone know where the actual sensor is located and if there is a way to reset it?

Mine did that the last time that i went through the touchless car wash. Sensor must be up front in the grill. Took two days for it to correct itself, so i am thinking that a blast of water must have effected it.

Pretty sure this is an issue on every truck. I've driven 5 or 6 F150 and 250s and they all did the same thing. The temp on the screen stays at the morning low and doesn't adjust until mid afternoon sometimes. I've had two dodge owners tell me the same thing happens to theirs. Haven't tried the chev yet but i'd assume it's the same. Seems to only happen when idling around or at low speeds, once I get up to highway speeds it adjusts fairly quickly.

Yup, mine is the same. I took it to the dealer and told them it was taking forever to adjust. The tech jumped in with me and told me to take it out on the hwy. He said it takes longer to adjust when you're just driving in town but should adjust quickly on the hwy. He was right, as soon as I got up to 55mph, I watched the digits immediatley climb; until it reached the right temp outside. It took 5 seconds to correct.

Haven't really noticed. I park in a garage and I've never noticed a lag in temp change, but maybe I'm not paying that close of attention.

I park in the garage and take my granddaughter to school each morning. It less than a mile and I watch the temp drop one digit at a time and it's stable before we get to her school. It seems to be pretty accurate too. I have an analog gauge on one of my Harleys and it's always about 10 degrees hotter than the real temp, so I appreciate the thermometer in the truck.

Yes, the temp gauge is something we've become accustomed to, but compared to the rest it seems rather minor if it takes a bit to adjust. Our Vibe adjusts rather quickly, I'll have to keep an eye on the truck. I would expect the readings to be 'dampened' somewhat, just like most fuel gauges. Remember driving older vehicles, often the fuel gauge would swing widely as you went around a corner.

If the temp gauge kept blinking up and down with every degree change someone would bring it in and say it appears broken.

My last truck, a 2008, and this 2014 take a while to get an accurate reading. If the truck has been driven and the parked, the area around the front core support heat soaks and takes maybe 5-10 minutes of driving to adjust. Its not a laboratory instrument. It's a convenience feature and limited by the location it's installed in.

Wait til you change time zones and it takes 2 days to reset the correct time...happened to me twice. Manual says it is....."normal."

I've changed time zones in my truck without any issue. Also, I'm pretty sure the truck has a way to sync the time with a connected device. Not sure if it happens via bluetooth or the USB cable, but I'm pretty sure it happens. When I picked up my truck from the dealership, the time was off by a few minutes. As soon as I paired my phone with the truck, the time corrected itself.

It is supposed to sync but I am telling ya, mine takes at least a day to switch back. When I cross into CT, it nails it right away, when I come back it takes a minimum of 24 hours...go figure.

When I get in my truck in the afternoon. It's been in the sun all day. My drive is only 3 miles home. The temp is acurate to within 2-3 degrees within 1 mile of driving. This was the same as my 2009 Sierra as well.
