XM delete in 2014/2015 trucks?

I have a customer who needs me to disconnect the XM and FM/AM antennas to satisfy a religious restriction/Guideline.. I've always been able to disconnect them behind the head unit and behind the glovebox before, but not on these new ones, it seems?

Anyone here have any experience with this on the new body trucks? It's a 2015 2500HD GMC in question, but I assume any new body truck would be similar?

The XM antenna is on the roof, you may be able to disconnect it from there. It is also the OnStar antenna so hopefully they're separate.

I started to wonder that and then decided that I don't think the analysis needs to go that deep. Why can't the person simply not activate XM and not listen to FM/AM radio? Why do they have to go to the extreme of disconnecting components in the truck? It sounds like they still want to retain the ability to do something as they don't want you to remove the CD player or blutooth function.

Why not just pull the fuse? I mean, if you can't listen to the radio, you probably can't listen to bitchin' betty give you directions either.

I wouldn't worry too much about disconnecting FM. If it's anything like my truck, they won't be able to get reception most of the time anyway.

lol, thanks for the replies guys.. I suppose it's okay to divulge that it's a Mennonite customer/farmer who still wanted to retain use of the back up camera and the OnStar.

I don't claim to fully understand the religious aspect, but it's my understanding that the religious objection is to anything having to do with music OR outside influence like news and sch

Could you maybe disconnect the speakers? I doubt there is a way to block AM and FM and XM completely... But I think onstar goes through the speakers.

Might send an email to OnStar and explain the situation and ask what is necessary to retain OnStar sound while disabling the radio sound - does OnStar use the radio speakers? Don't call or you will only get a sales person who may not understand what you want and is certainly not a tech. As mentioned, would pulling fuses work? As a last resort, contact GM - they are pretty good as to support.

The problem with pulling fuses is that it's an easy fix for the kids if they wanted to get into grandpas truck and break the rules. These folks that this stuff DEAD serious and they WILL cut cables and cords if necessary to be compliant with the church.

To clarify: they want the OnStar but they don't want the radio.. They DO want to use the speakers (bluetooth, parking sensors, navigation etc)

They are only allowed to use the back up camera IF it isnt able to capture an image..

Anyway, before (2013 and back) I would just go in behind the glove box and disconnect the XM then pull the head unit and disconnect the radio antenna..

Now all that looks totally different and I'm kind of afraid to pull the dash and see how the harnesses are mounted to the head unit.

Surely someone here has been into these areas before by now?

Maybe contact GM and see if you can find a diagram of the radio

just snip the speaker wires then
