I'm the opposite...I have set the Speed Warning in the DIC at 90...we have some roads with 80MPH speed limits and caught myself doing 95 a couple of times when passing...so much more quiet than previous truck it was hard to sense the speed at first.

I've been known to drive fast. But not in my truck. 85-90 about as high as I have had this one. The new ones seem so quite etc...at speed one does not realize that:

 

If something goes wrong and that truck gets sideways at 70+ mph you will roll and flip in to next year. At 90+ you will roll and flip into the next life. And as the bumper sticker says: _hit happens. That said, If I tuned the truck I would set the limiter to about 110 or so.

This topic is pretty funny, especially those of you that make comments telling others how to drive and manage our lives by leaving early. Whether or not one should or shouldn't drive ones vehicle that fast should be there choice. That said I understand the potential reasoning gm does it, which is to try and negate potential liabilities.

 

My biggest argument pairs with Colussus, I should have the right, and if I tune the car to allow for the restrictor to be removed, it should not adversely affect my warranty coverage. One more thing for me to add to the things I thus far don't like about my new , first, and most likely last GM product!

Warrenty Should be null and void the second you change something, from parts to tires speed ratings, regardless if you are only changing a limiter, you are now taking a vehicle faster then what it was designed to do, meaning parts are going past their limits, which was not the original design.

The reason isn't just liabilty... It's also because it simply isn't designed for it. The driveshaft, tires, aero, it doesn't take some kind of a genius to see that it's not meant to go that fast. If you know anything about driveshafts you know they can develop a harmonic disbalance at the wrong speed and practically disintegrate. I like going fast, but you need the right tool for the job.

 

EVERY BRAND HAS SPEED LIMITERS. THIS IS NOTHING NEW.

Speed rated tires and a little lowering these trucks are quite capable of high speeds. They handle it quite well. Some people live where safe high speeds are possible and legal. Saying these trucks can't handle high speeds is amusing and not true.

Well they are full size trucks, not meant for speed. I've never had to speed like that to get anywhere. Make sure you lean early enough, it's that simple. Also as someone else stated, speeding doesn't really get you anywhere any quicker since you'll eventually get to stoplights. When I would drive crazy I thought speeding got me to places quicker, but then I'd be waiting at a stoplight and here comes people that I passed miles back. I don't speed more than 5 over. Speed limiters are to save you from yourself. But, if you want to threaten your life along with other's lives then get a tune. It's kind of funny how you say it's not that big of a deal yet you started a whole thread and act like you're mad that it stopped at 91. So to you it actually is a big deal it seems.
