Governor. Really

Just found out this morning these f#%^*^% trucks have governors. I was rushing to the service department to be early and the governor kicks in at 91. Dealership will not reprogram it, saying gm doesn't let them do it.

 

Not that big of a deal but, one more thing I am not liking about my new gmc. I mean it's the 6.2 what the f#%*!!

 

If the governor is altered I am sure I would void my warranty, fing GM!

That does seem a bit slow, it may have something to do with the drive shaft balance.

Just about every truck on the market cuts off somewhere around 90-110 MPH. It's there due to either driveshaft limitations or tire speed ratings.

My 99,01,09 and 14 have all had speed limiters. Sorry man. I did have the limiter turned off in my 09 with a tune though. Gotta pay to play I guess.

Yep, my old 2000 model year with a 5.3 shut off at 98 mph. Have a 2013 with a 6.2, never pushed it that far yet, so not sure what the exact number is.

 

Was always told they shut them off before the vehicle hits the speed ratings on the tires.

try slowing down/leaving earlier and not endangering innocent bystanders. Your tires arent rated for high speed

how about:

a: leave earlier instead of speeding

b: stop complaining the OEM doesn't let reckless people exceed the safe speed they decided the equipment can handle

c: buy a sports car if you want speed

d: void your warranty and have it erased with a tune

BTW speeding doesn't get you where you're going much faster but, it does highly increase the chance you'll get pulled over by the cops which will make you very late lol.

 

I once got picked up for going 96 in a 60 when I was 19 years old. I almost got two nights in jail and a 6 month suspension but, for the grace of god the cop didn't tack reckless operation on the ticket so I got off easy.
