Then later we got the 2014 Grand Cherokee which had heated seats and heated steering wheel, and I thought "Pssshh...heated seats, great, but steering wheel, meh.."   Then the winter came and after clearing snow off it and climbing in with frozen hands, I grabbed that warm wheel and thought "heeeey...this is niiiice."

 

I made damn sure my new Silverado had the heated steering wheel and the heated AND cooled seats.  Turned on that seat cooling and heeeey...it's niiice!

I’ve honestly found the more of a man you are the nicer the heated steering wheel is.

 

man shit in cold weather = freezing cold hands. where as the ladies just go from the house to the car

i use mine a lot. it only takes about 3 minutes to get too hot to hold, so i turn it off after that.   its funny how awesome the steering wheel warmer is and how terrible the seat warmers are.

I never thought I'd need a heated steering but now that I have one I would not want to live without it! Truly awesome in Alaskan winters..

Lol, ain't it the truth.  I've found too that as I get older I covet things like those heated seats, steering wheel, and the other comfort doo-dads more than the lift and big tires :-) 

 

When I first started looking to get my Silverado, I went right to a Rocky Ridge, but my brain kept screaming things like "Remember how fun it was to load and unload the lifted Ram, when the tailgate was nearly up to your chin?"

Just wanted to give a big thanks to P.gamboa, and tinker fox for the videos on this upgrade of the heated wheel install.

And a huge thanks to p.gamboa for all his help with Harness’s for these upgrades on my truck (16 CCSB LT), such as the DL3 mirrors, Auto dimming mirrors, and of course this Heated Steering wheel. Thanks to this forum & it’s info, I can now enjoy my truck a lot better, thanks folks.

So, the bottom line is that they’ll be two connectors for the airbag  on a 1500 Silverado instead of only one on a 2500? Will there be two plugs and wires under the dash as well? 

 

 

And sorry to ask, but I just want to confirm. Are these the correct part numbers?  Steering Wheel - GM (84222909)

                            Clock spring  Part Number:23381964

I can confirm the clock spring is what I bought. For the wheel, what I bought was 23278626. This part # has been superseded by Part # 84353110. If you look up 84222909 on GMPartsGiant.com, it shows it too, has been replaced by 84353110. You should be good to go with those part #s.

Thanks Phil once again. Is there any change that would significantly deviate from Tinkering Fox’s video being that the 1500 have an extra plug?

Everything else is the same. I actually used his video when I did my dash swap and needed a refresher to remove the airbag.

Not to correct Phil (he knows a lot!) but just reminding you there are different numbers for the black vs. dune steering wheels.  I think Phil's numbers are for the black one.

Ah yes. Of course. Dune :). And correct away. LOL. :). I don’t know everything. [emoji13]. I spend a lot of time scouring the web, forum threads/posts, inter webs, eBay... to gather as much info on part #s. Sometimes more time than I need to. Lol

@pgamboa On a side note, went to my dealer to look at a seat lever issues, and the tech did a double take on my DL3 mirrors. Looked for second, and moved on. lol. pgamboa has confused DePaula Chevrolet tech.  Lol.

      I did the new thermostat after doing a 'flip' for a year. Runs as cool one way as the other in the summer but in the winter there is a bit of a floor. Yellow with the new 70 C thermostat. My data over the life of the unit to date. Still need more cooler. Anyway that floor helped both winter fuel economy and shift quality in the winter. I found it a good balance.

      Evan Williams Bottled in Bond   So pouring the last of a bottle of Evan Williams Black label last night I set off the the state store for a refill only to be denied the by an empty shelf. Rats.    What the did have was a bottle of Evan Williams Bottled in Bond. 100 proof. Hum, a few bucks more but a known distiller. Lets have a swing at it. ( I have before )    Cracked it open and pour a serving over ice. Hum.... more heat, yes. More alcohol naturally. But the barreling not the proof brings the taste and this one came up short.    Oh is was familiar but the heat ran the barrel over like a Peterbilt runs over a squirrel. Could use a heavier toasting of the oak me thinks or perhaps a longer barreling. Who knows. But what I can say is ice or a water back isn't the answer. What kills one kills them both. Sad. It is a pleasant drink....if you have little to compare it to.

      I've had exactly one set of Bridgestone. Lasted five year and 125,000 miles and had I known better 15oK would have been a cake walk. I would have bought a like set had they not tripled in price since the first set. I removed them at said mileage with 5/32" remaining in dead even wear all four. They were fuel efficient, quite, comfortable and predictable.    Early on I got a very good alignment checked at least once a year, sometimes twice; kept the tires properly inflated, balanced and rotated. And I've found that many a tire issue can be avoided with great maintenance practices. Lot's of tire dealers will do rotation and balance (simple) for free for as long as you own the tire they sold you so no excuse not to.    Bead prep, alloy integrity and stem health have a huge impact on inflation stability. There are more mountings done poorly that perfectly. Finding a good tire guy is gold and as important as finding a tire you like.    That 3X price increase now two sets of "other tires' later is starting look like a bargain.      Bad maintenance kills more tires than bad tires.
