vled LMZ led headlights

Unless your LT has the prohrcro style headlights I wouldn't put anything other than a halogen bulbs in them. They are not built for high output lighting at all and will blind oncoming traffic.

Im pretty sure he could use an LED replacement in the reflector housing huh? I know that the problem that was had with all other LED replacements is that they were created for reflectors so they wouldn't sit right in the projector and therefore would have a terrible beam pattern

I know that the LMZ could almost definitely be made to work well in the reflector. Just like us with the projectors, he will just have to adjust it until he gets the right beam pattern

Skeet, as far as these lmz's go, if the collar is screwed on as far as it will go well that give the lights a more narrow beam pattern or just the opposite?

Yes, if the farther in you have the bulb (so the closer the collar will be to your fan) the narrower the beam will be

Potentially yes. An led emitter will be better than an HID capsule since you can have it focus all the light on the upper half of the bowl negating the stray light from the bottom half. As long as those lmzs are bright enough. Still waiting on those pictures.....:)

Thanks guys. Gonna try it out and see how I like it

I'm still waiting on the time to get to go out and mess with the bulbs for a while. I'm shooting to be able to work on them Wednesday or Thursday night.

These appear to only emit one one side. If pointed up, should keep ambient light out of on comers eyes for the Silverado.

I'm ordering my LMZ's tonight, and Jon A is making a set of caps for me. Can't wait to replace the halogens!

So I pulled into my garage tonight to adjust my lights. when I pulled in my lights looked like they were vibrating. Not necessarily flickering or dimming though. When I turned my turned my truck off and just turned on the headlights they were fine. Don't know if it's just a freak thing or what but just thought I would share. going to try to screw the collar all the way down tonight for a more narrow beam pattern.

Lol I was just talking about this with Mike1220 yesterday. I noticed my passenger side light looked to be ever so slightly vibrating for lack of better terminology to describe it. I could barely notice it when I pulled up behind a vehicle at a stop light, other than that I would never have known a difference. I really wasn't sure if I was just being paranoid and trying to find something wrong/if it was actually moving/ if the bulb was about to fail/or if the vehicle in front of me was just jiggling around haha. Driver side is solid and I don't even know if I'll need to adjust it anymore at all. Passenger side I'm going to check out over the weekend. Was going to post my findings on it then. Mike hadn't noticed it in his, so I figured I just messed something up rushing through the install on that side trying to beat the night time. Now I'm curious though, as what u said is exactly what I saw the other night.

They do have a cooling fan, I thought that may be the culprit myself, but then I should see both sides doing that, not just the passenger. The light output doesn't alter at all it's solid, there's just an ever ever so slight movement. I actually thought it was the airbox pressing against the wiring behind the cap and vibrating it from the engine running. I then remembered I stuck everything inside the cap, so it couldn't be that either. I'm supposed to make use of my buddy's garage this weekend and I'll look at the driver side for movement more closely as well.

Could be pulsating current and not vibration at all

Do the VLED LED headlights clear the stock Silverado dust caps? I can't remember how deep they stock projectors set is set, but I know the heat sink on them is pretty big. I made as much room in the caps I did in case it would help with this, but I don't know that it was even needed.

Check your narrow beam because if you just put the collar down all the way. The beam is narrow and goes to the right (passenger) side. I tried it like that at first and immediately was like "not a shot"

I was originally gonna keep these as a narrow beam and have the DOT pods be my up close and personal but decided against that quickly.

I played with my headlights tonight as well. I adjusted the bulb depth and orientation. I didn't get to do a good test since I don't know where the dark (non-ghetto) parking lots are around here yet haha. I will try to bring the truck to my usual parking lot this weekend or during Mardi Gras break (Monday-Wednesday). I'll do final adjustments and take pics of the output and everything and see how I feel the bulbs sit best. Right now, I have them 2 full turns and like 1/20th of a turn. I have the screw that you are supposed to screw in to tighten the collar in place, outside of the ridges. I have a picture to show exactly where it is. Its uploading it to photo bucket as I type this.

I think I have discovered why y'all saw a vibration of the light. Unless the screw is tightened 100% dead centered in a ridge or 100% outside of a ridge then when you go to twist the bulb in, if the screw is on a ledge, then the screw can be loosened slightly, causing the collar to be slightly loosened, and then therefore you now have a bulb that can vibrate. Since its right next to the large engine block that is vibrating and in a headlight housing that is stiff and doesn't really absorb any vibrations like our seats would, the bulb will now have the ability to vibrate slightly inside the projector and that COULD be what y'all saw. Im not saying it is, but thats where I would put my money. I tested the theory out tonight and it seemed easily plausible. Especially if installation is rushed.

How do you have your driver side bulb oriented? Like I said, Im still looking for the best way to put these things. I was able to somewhat piece together a good orientation for now in the parking garage but since they finally fixed all the lights in the garage (why couldn't they have waited just a little bit longer?! :fume: ) I wasn't able to do much more than park the truck about 7-9 ft from the wall and start adjusting and looking for what made me think the beam was getting better.

The way mine are oriented the LEDs shine directly side to side. So this should hopefully give the best output for both low and high beam I'm hoping.

I know you were asking about how I have my bulbs oriented in the projector and with the collar. Check out what I just told skeet if you didn't already read it. It contains the answer you are looking for

Do these have cooling fans? Could it be that they are vibrating from the fan?

yes they have cooling fans but I do not think that they would cause them to vibrate. The fans seem strong but they also seem very well balanced and centered. I did give the fans a thought at being the culprit but if they were, then the bulbs would be constantly vibrating. Or at least thats my reasoning for why it shouldn't be the fans

Could be pulsating current and not vibration at all

Definitely not pulsating current. I've already seen these thing be affected by changes in the current. My subs draw a lot of power and they still pull power away from the headlights. The headlights are not nearly as affected as the HIDs used to be though

mike- Thanks for the info about the narrow beam pattern. the only reason i wanted to try it was bc my high beams don't put as much light down on the road as i would like. they shoot pretty high, but i think that may be bc of my lift. my low beams are fantastic though. especially with the rigid fogs. is there a way to adjust the headlight down??
