Width is 100 times better than the oem bulbs in the projectors IMO.

Oh yea compared to the OEM halogens that were more of a spot light than anything, the width is so much better on these it's not even funny. But compared to HIDs the width I think may be right around the same or at least kinda close. But like I said, I can't really say for sure until I hit the highway or get some better tests. Only used these on the roads so far. Haven't gotten them in my usual dark parking lot testing grounds.

Look forward to the pics. I got the cops called on me last time I was at my dark spot cuz they though i was doing drug deals. Haha.

How are they at night on wet (rainy) roads?

They are great. Very happy with them, just have to have a warm day and figure out why my Fog light went out.

you switched to the LMZ in you low beam as well? I thought that you had HIDs in you low beams and LMZs in your highs

So far so good with everything tucked inside the cap. It's a little tight, but not bad I don't think. I didn't secure the box with anything yet, it's just laying in there. Seems to be held pretty solid though with the wiring pushed back in there too.

I got my 5Ks in tonight and I think that they are a perfect match my friend.

Bad picture of the LMZ. I personally think that these look like an OEM HID.

Also, DAMN! These things are incredible! Completely surpassed my expectations. Much cleaner light than my 5K 55W HIDs I had. Also, instant on is a bonus. These lights I do think are a very strong contender against the 55W HIDs that I was using, partly because the light seems a lot cleaner

And for those who are looking forward to my side halogen vs HID vs LED side by side comparisons. I'm not 110% sure when I'll be able to do it. If I can tonight then it'll be much later and if it's not tonight then it'll likely have to be next weekend or the following.

What "lifetime LEDs" are you talking about? Is it a certain brand? Or just the actual lifespan. Cause as skeet said, pretty much any LED can be used for the duration of your lifetime. Chances are that I'll be able to use these LED headlight bulbs in any vehicle that I own in the next 30-40 years (Im guessing, idk, maybe I'll do more night driving and kill them sooner). At 30,000+ hours of expected life, I'd be amazed if they die sooner than that.

As far as use in an SLE, I don't think anyone has actually tried these in an SLE. I know a few ppl have used other LED bulbs in the Silverados and they required a harness much like an HID. Couldn't imagine this one would be much different

JUST A NOTICE TO ALL PPLS

The ballasts for these bulbs can fit under the replacement dust covers made by Jon A. You will just have to let the ballast rest inside the headlight under the bulb and projector. I drove around with them like that tonight and the back of the cap sealed. No issues. I also did a heat comparison test between the 55W OEM halogen and the LMZs. I had the halogen on one side and the LMZ on the other. Both headlights were sealed using Jon A's covers with tape over the hole made for those who want the ballast on the outside. I used an infrared thermometer and probed around after 30 minutes (halogen) and 35 minutes (LMZ) [got a phone call while doing the halogen that slowed me down] and there was only about a 15 degree F difference. Not much. Halogen was 185.4F and LMZ 170.1F

Does anyone think that leaving the ballast will cause an issue? The ballasts only got up to 145F whether inside or outside the housing. Temp difference for housing with ballast in and out was only 10F difference (about 160.3F)

These temperatures are the hottest readings I got and were pretty much all from the projector itself. So this isn't ambient air temps inside of the housings.

There not as bright if I recall but they look pretty nice and have a lifetime warrantee!

• Has anyone successfully converted their Silverado High and Low Beams to the LMZ Kits?

• If I purchase High(9005) and Low (H11) kits do I need to get the Jon A extended caps or is that Sierra's only?

Jon's caps are for Sierras, you'll need the guy Mike mentioned below for silvy caps. Not sure if anyone has got these in one yet.

 

Jon A is making them for a Sierra. He has a Denali himself. You are thinking of Crf450r420. He has a Silvy and is making extended caps for them.

I haven't seen them in a silverado low beam. A high beam yes but thats it

Hey guys I'm new on here just wondering what the best plug & play lights are for my 2015 LT Silverado would be. I'm looking for 5000-6000k for high, low, and fogs. I seen that CREE LEDS look like great fog lights. I was wondering if I could use the H11 CREE's for my low beams or is there something close to the CREE fogs? Thanks for any help in advance guys!

Skeet, as far as these lmz's go, if the collar is screwed on as far as it will go well that give the lights a more narrow beam pattern or just the opposite?

Are you speaking from seeing these exact bulbs or other bulbs rated at 6000k? My VLED LMZ headlights are 6000K but they don't give off any blue hue that I can see. Just a very cold, white light.

 

My PIAA fogs, however are also rated at 6000K. They do have a noticable blue hue. Apparently not all manufactures strictly adhere to the same color charts....

This really is a pain in the ass and there should be a standard...

Are you happy with the 6ks? Thats the direction I'm leaning at this point...

Unless your LT has the prohrcro style headlights I wouldn't put anything other than a halogen bulbs in them. They are not built for high output lighting at all and will blind oncoming traffic.

I believe it is just like you say, the longer the bulb is the narrower the beam.

      Why don't I have a good scanner? I've always wanted one when I've needed one.   My latest reading says I don't need to do a relearn on the ckp sensor on a 1995 with OBD 1.5. The relearn is prescribed for the later-model 1995's which shipped with actual OBD II when GM completed the transition in prep for the 1996 MY. I need to confirm that. Did you know forums are disappearing? Knuckleheads on Facebook... it's not the same. It's just not.   So, scanners. Again, shooting myself in the foot for having eBayed my Snap On MT2500 "brick" with all the adapters. Not that I couldn't buy another but those are getting quite old, and mine wasn't new enough to work on 2000's vehicles.   Damn it (as I'm scanning my email between paragraphs here). Did you know there's a 2000 Jimmy 2-door on BaT that's ending this morning? It's local. I want it. 14k miles. Absolutely beautiful.   Back to scanners. MT2500's are old. Solus, now that could be a contender. There's a ~2008 Verus with a system error that's basically new in box for cheap. Hmm...I'm not sure about a scanner that runs an archaic version of windows (95 or CE, I can't tell).   I want the ability to reset and rotate TPMS, test individual modules, bleed ABS, electronic parking brake controls for servicing brakes, relearn procedures and other bidirectional controls.   Snap On does an MT2600. It's a new model as of last year, marketed as their "entry" scanner. Entry? Only where $1900 gets you through the doorway plus, I'm guessing, $1000/year if you wish to keep it current. So goes scan tools actually designed for production environments. Want decent products with excellent support, you pay for it.   Everyone is raving about Autels and TopDons and Foxconns and all these newer brands that are selling the $500 "prosumer" scanners for backyard hacks like me. They're tempting...honestly. Updates are cheaper, base prices are remarkably cheaper... And you get to deal with bugs and translation whoopsies and, well, just don't use it on anything expensive, OK? Having a dealer replace an ECU because it needs to be re-imaged after an adventure in scanning is no joke. But I think most people are getting by OK with these units.   eBay on a scratch-and-sniff pro-model oldie, a shiny new TopDon, or???   God dang it, I can't stop looking at this Jimmy. I'm ready! I'll Bring The TRailer! It's beautiful.

      I removed the OE running boards.  It looked so much better.  I wish I took them off a long time ago.     I had to put something back on for my wife.  I wanted Westin Sure Grip Running Boards but they are very pricey, like $600 plus.  I was going to go with the Ionic 41's like I had on the 2019 Silverado but went with Westin Outlaw Drop Steps instead, about $200 cheaper.  They are sturdy and functional but not super crazy about the look, but it works.
