What do you carry for your CCW?

If you can find them then let me know. Some parts do come up on ebay every now and then but they are either too expensive if new or they are used parts which to me is not worth it. There are still a parts for the P85/89 series guns but not so much on the 95 series. I emailed Ruger last year about it and they responded that the gun is no longer in production and that they were not going to be making any parts for it in the future. The lady who emailed me stated that if there is a problem with the gun under warranty that it would be replaced with a comparable model (there are still some floating around gun stores that have not been sold). I have seen the P95's at gun shows for $300 new and less than $200 used, I may pick one up down the road.

How many rounds do you have through the gun? Also, can you describe the issue you are having? You mentioned ejection problems. What exactly is it doing?

Well that's not too encouraging for my P95DC. Interesting that in 2013 they were discontinued and a mere 2ish years later parts can't be found for them. Looks like my P345 was discontinued in 2013 as well. I guess it's a good thing I can't see anything breaking them outside of some useless torture tests which I'll never perform.

 

I wonder what a "comparable" model is...maybe I can "trade" mine for a nice gp-100 haha

I am not 100% sure of how many rounds but well over 10k rounds and maybe closer to 20k rounds. It wants to stove pipe the spent shell, never has done that in the first 17 years or so I have owned it. I cured about 50% of the problem by polishing the ramp and lubing the gun really heavy, especially the slide and the top of the back end of the barrell (the part that is stamped 9mm). I am pretty sure the recoil spring is getting weak.

Most of the stove pipe issues I've seen have been extractor issues rather than recoil spring. Recoil spring is usually failure to feed and a few other issues. Do you shoot factory ammo or reloads? I have seen times where stove pipes were caused by weak reloads. It doesn't cycle the slide all the way back which doesn't allow time for the spent casing to eject. I recommend looking closely at the extractor to see if it is chipped or damaged in any way. I typically clean mine with a dental pick to get any hard build up out from under the edge so it can make good contact with the case rim.

Thanks for the advise STI, I replaced the extractor about 4 years ago when the gun had similar issues and the gun did fine afterwards. I have not shot the gun that much in the last 4 years (maybe 2000 rounds) but I did clean the extractor really well when it started acting up again and it was in good shape. I shoot factory ammo. I do not reload pistol ammo (but do all my rifle ammo). It could be the extractor again. I just wish I would have replaced the recoil spring a few years ago at the same time but who knew Ruger would quit making parts for a gun they made up till 2012!

On the fence right now between a xds 45acp or the new glock 43. Both about the same price. Already own two springfields, one I conceal carry. Purchase will be made around May (birthday present to myself). I carry a 45 now but the weight of the xd mod 2 with the shorty mag is still a bit heavy

If you already own Springfield and you're comfortable with it, go with the XDS.......That's what I would do since they operate the same and you don't have to worry about getting used to a different make & model.

 

I am a huge Glock fan and owner several but I love to carry my XDS. Very light and slim, don't even know it's there.

New EDC setup, gonna carry both mags and each has a Pearce grip plus one extension. Gun is amazingly light compared to my XD, should keep my pants from drooping so much lol. Also my second alien gear holster, love them so much and how comfortable they are
