Somehow yesterday when cleaning my windshield and mirror glass I put a spot on my passenger side mirror. like the mirror coating started to come off. Guess i was rubbing to hard.

Trying to decide if I should call the dealer about it or just order a replacement and do it myself. Anyone ever taken one of these apart?

Wow this seems wierd, do you have any pics and what did you use to clean them. I would hope the dealer would cover them under warranty if there is a defect.

I was using auto glass cleaner. If I figure out how to post a pic I will put one up.

Well I thought the coating was inside to. Guess not . I am going to the dealer tomorrow hopefully they will replace it. If I didn't have ocd so bad I'd just let it go but every time I look at the mirror I stare at that spot. Luckily The glass isn't to expensive.

Does it look like the adhesive on the back has pulled off some of the mirror finish?

What is this world coming to if you can't clean a mirror with auto glass cleaner without damaging it. Definitely have them replace it under warranty.

More than likely the mirrors are "tinted" so that they can put the turn signals in them. That's my best guess as to why this happened.

If It's under warranty, take it in, see what they say. If they'll replace it I'd do it. That'd bug me for the rest of my tenure as the owner if I saw it every time I looked in my side mirror.

I was thinking the same thing, what a joke.

Whatever you do, never ever use a razor blade to clean anything off of a mirror. You will see every little scratch it makes. Such scratches are not visible on flat glass, but they are on a mirror.

Nope no razor blades here I do all my washing by hand cause I'm super fussy Good news I stopped by the dealer today and they will replace it under warranty. He ordered a new one and will call when it comes in. He said it could be from the heated mirror but I hardly ever use it. I think it's crappy plating!

It doesn't look like the adhesive pulled off I think the mirrored plating is on the face of the glass not behind.
