Ford guy bragging up my Silverado

I had to go to a funeral in Colorado Springs a couple of weeks ago. I live northwest of Denver. Another mutual friend was going too and we took my LTZ. Now this guy is a hard core Ford guy. Has an F 150, his wife has a Mustang, and he even built a Ford powered hot rod. We cruised down I 25 at around 80m.p.h. He commented that it felt like we must only be going 50. He said it rode so much smoother than his Ford, and the interior was so much nicer too.

When we were at the church we talked to more friends and my buddy kept praising my Chevy. If you knew him you'd know how completely out of character that was for him. He's always badmouthing "Bowties."

I guess I made the right choice in trucks. It just turned over 10,000 miles and nary an issue, except those recalls, and I never had the problems that they were supposed to cure anyway.

Good stuff. I get lots of compliments as well, a lot of people are shocked at how nice and comfortable a pickup truck can be. Love my LTZ.

These new GM trucks are the best truck on the market today.

My buddy almost had me in an Ecoboost F150...but I just couldn't do it.

Always been a bowtie guy, and am very glad I decided on the Sierra.

What year is his F-150?

I think it's a 2012.

Luck it doesn't shake/vibrate...or wait until it does. Also, wait until you have 35,000 miles, won't ride so nice

Why would that happen?

I looked at the previous Gen F-150 before I got my Silverado, I didn't care for the interior; too much silver painted trim interior pieces....like someone went crazy with a silver sharpie. A coworker has a 2013 FX4 CREW Ecoboost and he too likes my truck, his only complaint is how much lower my truck sits compared (both stock) to his, but he says the interior and road noise blows his truck away. Another coworker has a new 2015 F-150....don't care for his interior either; there's too much going on with the center stack, but he has a lot of nice gadgets, like the side-view cam, remote unlocking tailgate, panoramic sunroof, and better cooled/heated seats but we agree other than the extra tech you get on the 2015, the Silverado rides as nice and the interior gets a slight edge over his truck.

It must be a truck thing. Plenty of complaints on the F-150, Tundra, Tacoma and Ram forums of vibrating driveline over a certain speed. Doesn't seem to be a GM only thing.

But wait a minute. There are plenty of women that drive Chevy trucks especially in Texas, or that is what I am told. So what is the problem?

Had one of my students notice my new truck. He was drooling over it and of course wanted to trade.

The brand loyalty thing is strange. The guy who rode to the funeral is hardcore Ford even though he has had tons of problems building his hot rods 351. They change things so that parts for similar motors won't work. Getting a distributer to engage the cam gear that drives it was a nightmare. A camshaft that fit the engine was ground for a different firing order. Still he remains a Ford guy.

Another close friend had an immaculate '05 F 150 with about 60,000 miles. His truck is always spotless and very well maintained. He was waiting to get new a '15, but the '05 went into limp mode and the dealer couldn't fix it! He got a new, at he time, all steel '13 Platinum. Nice truck but I would have been a little shy about getting another Ford if it was me.

I was a hard core ford guy myself, owned 3 F150's, 2 F250, 1 F350, 1 Mustang GT, 1 Saleen SC281, 1 Shelby GT 500. my wife loved the Denali's so I bought one, then traded it for what I have now, so im guessing my wife turned me from Ford to GMC lol

I myself have always been a bowtie loyalist. To my amazement I purchased a 2015 Ford explorer sport (twin turbo 3.5 ltr) this past November for the missess. I drove damn near every manufactures offering in the small suv/cuv and Ford came out on top for performance and eye appeal.

There went my loyalty...
