I don't have any photos but I purchased a Truxedo Deuce2 with a TonneauMate toolbox for my '14 regular cab long bed.

 

This set-up works great for me. The toolbox is 55" long, 22" wide and 15" tall and sits off the bed floor maybe 6-7 inches.

It latches onto the bed rails at any location you want. There is a handle inside the box that locks it into place, you can move it forward or back on either side of the bed.

 

 

 

I have two of these and you can mount the tool boxes on the front rail as well. i know you can buy the rails still but I couldn't find the tool boxes any more. I transfered them out of my 2010.

no it does not go all the way down to the bed floor. there is about a 1' gap between the bed floor and the bottom of the tool box.

yes and no. the bottom ones I can still use in certain situations and I moved the upper tie downs to the middle holes. so I still have 4 upper tie downs. one of these days when I get some time I plan on installing a light in my tool box so I can see in it at night and installing 2 tie downs on the box so I can strap some loads down a little better.

I have one of Home Depots Husky brand boxes. The quality is the best of any budget minded ($300 or less) box that I've seen.

What do you guys have or what have you used in the past for tool boxes? I'm still up in the air about one because with the short bed, it would take up useful space, but I'm tired of having tow strap, tool box, seat cover, etc. sliding around under my back seat. If I got a tool box I'd really like it to be a low profile box and preferably black.

Have you thought about the under-seat storage tray? I got one because I was tired of the same thing.

How much did you give for the TonneauMate? I'm seeing ~$400. I can get 2 swing cases for that and still have $$.

I've thought about those, but my main objective with getting a toolbox is to keep stuff out of the cab. My last truck I had subs under the rear seat and while it sounded great, I lost a lot of room in the back, plus there have been times where I need to put something inside the cab which requires all useful space.

I've looked into those as well. While I do like them, I think a toolbox would be better as there's just more room for things. I would like to put a floor jack, small air compressor tank, jumper cables, tie towns, tow strap, etc. I just don't think there's enough room for what I'm looking for.

It latches great, there's also plenty of adjustment in the latch system depending on how hard or easily you want it to close. You can lock or unlock either or both of the latches to gain access to the box. When the lock is disengaged the handle is not at all physically connected to the latches which makes it harder to break in.

 

It doesn't go all the way to the bed floor, I would say its up about 8-10 inches from the bed floor which allows plenty of room for home supplies. Even with that being said, there is still enough room for me to keep my chain saw in there even in it's protective case.

 

In addition I keep all my straps, tools, some recovery and survival gear in there just in case. I still don't even have it filled up.

Got mine of Craigslist for $60! I bought threaded eye hooks and drilled holes in side of box. Used the factory tie-down loops (the ones that twist-lock into the oval openings) to anchor box. Love it. I use it as a trunk, for tools, and to put our trailer hitch weight bars in.

Look up undercover swingcase - can be mounted on both driver or passenger side depending on what you want, easy to lock and remove completely from bed allowing full storage capacity w/ ease.

I have one for driver's side - currently has a dozen bungee cords, 2 tow recovery straps w/ hooks, 2 ratcheting strap tie downs, a set of jumper cables, misc. small tools (screwdriver, multi-tool, etc.), and a hardhat and safety glasses/vest/gloves.

 

Its not huge, but is light and easy to remove and holds what I need. Not sure if I can post a link to the product w/o violating forum rules
