2015 Silverado 5.3 Slip yoke clunk ?

My pos has been clunking from day one. Now at 13k miles it's worse. We live on a long hill, with speed bumps. The moment you press the gas and take your foot off this pos clunks. At around 10-20 mph , it's automatic. Clunk, clunk, clunk. It like at these speed if you press gas for 1 sec and take your foot off its garaunteed to clunk. Dealer says it's normal which is bs. Lucky for me gm is going to buy this pos back. My 08 Sierra never clunked once, wasent confused on where to shift , the shift were butter soft.

. This is not normal and the gm engineers should be shot who think this is normal. The trans confusion and flair I can live with but the constant clunking is terrible. Again though gm has agreed to buy truck back already , just waiting on paperwork finalized. But man the clunking drives me insane

WOW, mine is also getting worse the more I drive it. Took it into the dealer yesterday with 2300.miles, waiting to see what they say. Honestly, Ive had way too many issues with this truck to feel comfortable keeping it. It feels like it's an unfinished product. My 2007 had 180k miles never had these issues. Glad to see GM is willing to buy it back for this issue. I paid way too much to have truck that clunks and shifts like crap.

I'm taking mine back in a week or so. They did the T-case update a couple days ago and it didn't change any of the driving characteristics. Supposedly they are going to use the PICO scope to try and isolate the problem on my next visit.

I'm curious what they come back with on your truck. I will update after they look at mine. Good luck!

They called me yesterday to tell me my truck has been fixed and they just want the manager to inspect it.

Im just curious how the diagnosed it or fixed it with out having to drive it at all.

I check with my onstar app and it has the same miles it had when it was dropped off at the dealer lol

Yeah, that seems strange. Please keep us posted on your results.

Update:

I got my truck back on saturday, serv. manager pretty much gave me a speech on how the truck needed to learn my driving style ect... and told me they did a Software update and inspected the truck and found nothing wrong with it / could no replicate it. So I took him for a test drive, and showed him what it is doing. Now he wants me to bring it again so they can try something else.

I am writing my notice of non-conformity to GM today. Next step is BBB

CentralCAz71, any luck with the dealer fixing your truck?

I took it back yesterday 10/20/15 for the 2nd attempt, they are supposed to look at the Rear Diff. not getting my hopes up. I dont really care if they fix it or not at this point. I am either going to end up with a smooth running truck or they are going to buy it back. Either way im good .

How is your process going along zert100 ?

I guess the term "clunker" no longer applies only to a beat up old car or truck.

The reason why some trucks clunk a lot worse than others is that those with pronounced clunks appear to have the worst case tolerance stackup on parts, e.g. smallest permissible yoke diameter inside largest permissible opening. GM tolerances on these parts seem way too sloppy.

I am bringing mine in on 10/27. They said they wanted to keep it for a couple days. I will update later next week when I get it back.

I hope they find some resolution for you!
